> 3 dayThe game is as dull as the console where I did a review on the Switch Lite is lacking the messaging feature when you have the 3DS, wii, and wiiu that some form of a messaging setup for online games to notify that youre available which I will explained how Nintendo failed on this game in the review. I been playing this game since its release date and its just your basic Animal Crossing for the main part where I was highly aware about one island per console that doesnt bother me because Im the only one playing it so that doesnt apply to me that leaves the online problem. Just like I said how the Switch lacks a proper messaging setup where you cant message anyone when youre going to plan play online and using a smartphone isnt the best substitute for messaging that Nintendo been pushing theyre not supposed to do that. At least the PS4 has the option for both messaging and voice chat which is another mistake Nintendo because Im not the best speller where I wish Nintendo made a special microphone for the Switch like they did with the wii. I cant give this game pass the 3 star rate on this review because of Nintendo lack of communication setup and making the online play basically impossible.

Greater than one weekA wonderful Animal Crossing mainline addition. The multiplayer is perfect for working together on projects and to switch leaders is as easy as shaking the remote. The amount of customization available is amazing, you can really make the island all your own. The introduction of the nook miles tickets really helps with adding things to do everyday. Nook miles allow for a sense of progression without having to wait till the next day in game. One of my favorite games of the year so far.

> 3 dayThis is my first time playing Animal Crossing, but have played similar games like Stardew Valley in the past. Theres a lot to love about this game, and its a welcome break during the Covid madness, but there are also a lot of oversights that make this game quickly becoming lame for me. What I love: - Relaxing - Simple activities without much of any action. You fish, you plant flowers, you interior design. Thats about it. - UI/Design - The simplicity of the design for things like fishing (no on-screen icons, just you, your rod, and the water). The characters are also super cute. What I dont like: - Multiplayer - We bought one copy to share on our single device, with two separate online Switch accounts. My partner and I were forced to share the same island. Further, only the FIRST person to play the game gets to progress the story (e.g. unlockable events from Tom Nook like building bridges and getting key recipes). - Repetitive simple tasks - You need to eat food to do heavy-lifting chores like digging up trees. You need to eat each food item individually, so in order to move 10 trees you need to eat one apple 10 times, which is annoying because each apple takes about 10 seconds to eat. - A culture of prioritizing grinding (i.e. requiring the user to spend countless hours playing to unlock simple upgrades) - There are many ways to use the game design to get money quickly, such as tarantula hunting. Granted, some of them Id consider cheating such as changing the timestamp of your Switch to move ahead in time, or duplicating expensive items, which I support them getting rid of as they arent fair and against the point of the game. With each new update that has come out, theyve found ways to ensure people cant make money quickly. The tarantulas on islands is a popular one, but they have been making it difficult to actually make use of it - such as adding water bugs that force tarantulas to not spawn, or adding 3-layer islands so you have to constantly use pole-vault/ladder which is very time-consuming. Some people dont want to spend 30 hours of gameplay fishing for the same fish, so why force people to do this? - Online play: You have to go to the airport and open/close the gate, and unless you do this, you cant do many actions on your island such as redecorating. Again, a waste of time that they seem to encourage. - Second active player - When someone dials in another user on the same Switch, they can follow the main player around. However, there isnt much that player can do aside from simple emotions and using tools. Picking up items is time-consuming (again) as it does a celebration graphic for every single item. Theres no access to your inventory. And when the second player is away from their controller, there is no auto-follow option which makes the camera angle a huge hindrance to the primary player. I think this game can be good, but its got a lot wrong with it that seems to be intentional by the game designers. All in all a fun game, but I wouldnt recommend it to anyone for any reason other than to visit my island. :-P

> 3 dayLet me preface this review by saying I am a very hardcore Animal Crossing fan- Ive played all of the games except the original GameCube and Im pretty picky about the new games sticking to the original tone of Animal Crossing. So I will say that when the ads for this game came out I was kind of negative about the whole thing- it looked so different from the older games and I was wary of it. But let me say that I honestly think this is the best Animal Crossing game since City Folk and possibly even on par with it. First of all the art is incredible- its a new twist on the old style but its so amazing to watch (even just the way the wind is animated to blow) that you cant be anything but impressed. The new crafting features on the island lend so much more possibilities for the game- no more days of wandering around the town wondering what to do with your day because youve done so much fishing and bug catching theres kind of no point. Its honestly a bit like Minecraft and Animal Crossing had a cool superior baby of a game and it definitely gets you hooked. Blathers is back and theres the option for him to give his old speeches that old fans will remember from earlier games. All in all, it keeps to the old Animal Crossing tone much better than New Leaf (definitely better than Welcome Amibo or Campground) with lots of cool new features that really fit in well with the old spirit. I am a big fan!

Heads I win, Tails you lose
> 3 dayOrdered the game for my mom. Tracking and shipping promised a time and the game came super late. It’s a present that I now have to give late due to shipping losing it! The game itself is cute and adorable. Played it for over a year myself. This copy is for my mom, but who knows if she will even get it…

> 3 dayThe game arrived on time and was sealed. It is a X-Mas present for my son and so we will not know until then in order to see if anything is wrong. If it has any problems will edit review then.

> 3 dayI bought this game on the advice of a friend because I was looking for games for my nephew. Long story short is I stared to play and now have to buy another one for him. It is engaging but not stressful. There is a reason why so many people got hooked on it during lockdown of Covid-19.

> 3 dayLots of new things to do. Although some of the cool features here are only compatible if you have internet. Which is a bummer. But the new swimming feature and the ability to move houses, buildings and build ramps and bridges is very cool. Good way to pass the time.

Greater than one weekReal life got you down? News reports of crazy orange man and ravaging pandemic got you at your breaking point? Well, here comes Animal Crossing New Horizons to take you away from reality and into a land of kawaii animals who will become your new neighbors and friends. While your friends IRL are washing bags of chips so they dont catch it from their Whole Foods delivery, youre happily planting pumpkins in your backyard and going fishing on your own private island. And if you start to worry that youre beginning to lose your grip on reality because youre spending all your time with computer generated animal neighbors, worry not! If your friends and family also plug into the matrix, they can visit you on your little island paradise in the digital realm, and you can visit them! No mask needed. Just go to your island airport, and fly to their little island paradise. Its that simple! Leave the real world behind and lose yourself in the world of Animal Crossing. Who thought the apocalypse could be this much fun? (Nintendo online account required for online play).
