Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch

> 3 dayThe number of times you press the A button to perform basic tasks is so high that my wifes thumb has been hurting lately. The excessive length of cutscenes to join a friends island, or to watch a friend join your island, discourages group play or play with strangers, and the whole game feels poorly designed. There are regular patches reacting to the top 1% of players exploiting bank interest rates, certain high value commodities, and other mechanics. Nintendo is doing copyright strikes against Youtube videos and reporters discussing these issues. There are fan-made videos showcasing quality of life features that.. its frankly sad none of them existed from the beginning (and likely wont).

> 3 dayI had played the original Animal Crossing on the Gamecube and enjoyed that a lot. this blows it out of the water. Pros- visually stunning game play will keep you occupied for hours-days-weeks-months (think like a good mobile game with daily tasks) tons of things to collect, design, and create. controls have heavily improved over the years. once you reach a certain point, you can virtually edit your island to your design, place buildings where you want. determine which villagers you have, etc. cons- still no playable nes games if you are playing this game with one console but multiple people (like roommates or siblings), you get one island per system and it prioritizes the first player to settle the island. online multiplayer could be better overall. this is a fantastic life sim. even if we were not in Covid-19 times i would still recommend this to anyone.

> 3 dayI really love this game, there is something so relaxing about taking care of a digital island and seeing your villagers! It is majorly addictive too and can take up a majority of your time if you let it. Such a cute game though and it doesn’t promote competition or violence, it’s just a calm game to play when you need to chill.

Greater than one weekThis game is worth every ounce of hype. Its got all the things you love from the games before and even more; it even seems like there are influence of Breath of the Wild in here too. Its too cute too. You have more freedom than you have had in any other Animal Crossing game; you get to choose where you live and how big your yard its, you get to choose where basically everything is- you even get to choose what your island looks like. Bonus all the music is super relaxing- I got this during the Corona Quarantine in North America (for way in the future reference) and for a few hours at a time (its really really hard to keep true to my Im only going to play for an hour rule) I forgot all about the chaos and was absorbed into it. For a while I get to dissolve onto my own little Bala Hai. Its too cute and I cant wait to keep playing!

Greater than one weekIts good to have a relaxing, non stressful game to play after Frostpunk, Tis War Of Mine and Fallout 76 on the PS4. What I did not like about this game was the long dialog with interacting characters and the pause when starting a conversation. I wish there was a way to speed past these. Other than that, I like the low stress quests and system of reward for milestones. I like having a goal to upgrade your house and surroundings. Sometimes I just need to get away from the realities of life or worse, the stressful alternate realities of other video games.

> 3 dayIf you like Animal Crossing, youll love this one. This game takes the best of Animal Crossing and expands it by adding new gimmicks such as crafting and going on random island expeditions to scrounge for materials. During the Bunny Day holiday, it was fun collecting all the seasonal recipes and I look forward to bigger events like Halloween. If youve never played Animal Crossing but like the idea of a chill, laid back game where you just enjoy collecting, building up a new island community or bothering your NPC neighbors I think itll be a good pick for you. I didnt expect to like it quite as much as I do but I already have more hours clocked into this game than other big Switch titles such as Smash Brothers and Splatoon 2.

> 3 dayI love this game! I am also a full grown adult and I play it! I don’t have reliable internet where I live and this game is still wonderful without connecting online. I recently got injured and this has consumed so much of my time. What a fun game!
