Several years ago, I bought and played Animal Crossing: New Leaf on my 3DS. I could never fully invest myself in it, and even though I would come back to it, and replay it in an attempt to understand what people liked about it so much, I eventually dropped it. When this game was announced, I was never planning on buying it. It was only around release time that I started to take an interest in it, and I eventually bought it, thinking it would be different than NL. I was correct in this thinking. I have invested over 175 hours into the game thus far. I think what sets it apart from NL is the level of customization that it includes. The ability to customize your entire island, including the location of resident’s houses, shops, and anything else you can think of (with the exception of Resident Services). Terraforming is also a very neat feature which allows you to make some truly impressive island layouts with ponds, rivers, waterfalls, cliffs, and ramps. You can also fully customize your character from their eyes, hair, skin colors, etc. It’s a far cry from the presets of previous games. The biggest and most annoying drawback would have to be that you can’t craft multiple items at once. If you want to craft 50 fish baits to catch that rare fish you’ve been wanting, you’ll have to spend a good 15 minutes at the DIY bench just pressing buttons over, and over, and over again. A nice feature to add would also be the ability to fast-forward through certain dialogue options, like talking to Blathers when you want to donate or have him assess something. It’s a great little game with a few drawbacks, but I’d say it’s definitely worth it’s price.

Got it for my wife for her birthday. She loves this one ! You can just relax, chill and listen to the music while doing relaxing quests or you can put music on while you play because you wont miss anything. Good for just relaxing game play.

My siblings and I grew up playing Animal Crossing on the GameCube, the DS (all of them) and the wii. We were very excited for it to come out for the switch. And its a great little twist on our classic game. The only thing that was mildly annoying is having to build your tools every time they break-- this isnt a new feature, but you have to gather the material to do it, which is very time consuming, and also has a limited amount that you can collect each day. It was very nice being able to play with friends from other states via the internet.

I WAS VERY EXCITED TO BUY THIS GAME AND IT LOOKED REALLY COOL BUT ITS PRETTY BORING AND BLAND IF YOUR SPENDING THIS MUCH MONEY MIGHT AS WELL BUY SOMETHING FUN I ADVIZE SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY (PRETTY MUCH THE BEST GAME YOU CAN GET ON A NINTENDO SWITCH)

Animal Crossing has always been part of my childhood, and this game made my experience with the series a hundred times better. The new features that give you more freedom, the amazing graphics, the player customization- it all comes together perfectly. I was skeptical of a few things before, but now I couldnt be happier about it. Though there are a few low points, such as repetitive character dialect and multiplayer, Nintendos dedication to making this a great experience for all players (new and old) has won me over, as they have time and time again. 10/10 would recommend this game to anyone with an open mind.

Me and my little brother share and island called Pearl Isle (dream code is DA-8909-6396-2998 if you wanna visit, its called Pearl Isle), and the gameplay is open and fun, the interactions with the villagers have a lot of choices and variety, the clothing has a lot of variety and the villagers are really cute. The only reason why it loses a star is because you cant have multiple save slots, so me and my brother cant have our own save slots, and well have to completely delete the island if we get bored of it and decide to make a new one. The other reason why it loses the star is because some parts of the terraforming are kinda bad. I said SOME parts because for the most part I really like it, but the parts I dislike are: You cant terraform beaches You cant make corner waterfalls, so you cant make your waterfalls wrap all the way around If you need to relocate something it costs 50,000 WHOLE BELLS (I even have money trees and not native fruit to sell but it still costs too much!) And some random aspects of the game I dislike: It doesnt tell you how to plant fruit trees (I had to Google it) The bamboo island is SOOOOO hard to get (I still dont have bamboo!) When you go on a Mystery Tour you always get your native fruit (I still dont have apples and pears) Thats all that I dislike about the game, I hope you consider changing those aspects of the game, and for the most part its a great game, I am really happy that you made it!

This is such a good game. I’ve been a fan of the series for many years, and you don’t need to have played the others to play this one. Easy to understand controls, beautifully relaxing music that changes based on the weather and time, The dialogue consists of cute conversation starters that really illustrate how much the developers care about the individual playing the game. My daughter falls asleep to the jazzy music and that’s a big plus, too!

Ive been playing every Animal Crossing since the DS version, and this game is considerably ranked above the others in terms of visuals, customization and freedom. I have about 200 hours logged in and loved every second of it. There are of course, as others have mentioned, some quality of life/tedious issues but those dont really bother me as much as the lack of store fronts does, as well as less furniture options as other games. Im hoping that later this year some more updates/dlcs will fix this. Considering the amount of time I played with this game versus its cost point, I would say its absolutely worth it! It really is a perfect game for our unique situation globally with the pandemic going on.
