> 3 dayThis box really has a wow factor. The packaging is incredible. But big problem: there’s not enough paint in one of the small tubes to paint anything bigger than a miniature. Not enough for a serious artist. I find I’m suddenly out of a color with no replacement. Plus there are metallic and pearized colors that I never use. So—too many colors for a beginner (they’re going to mix muddy colors) and not enough paint for an experienced one. If you’re going to have a try-it box, you need to have a reorder list with larger tubes of paint.

> 3 dayI put these colors in an air-tight palette. They molded after a couple days (before I had gotten a chance to use them.) I cleaned the mold out and set them aside, came back 3 days later and the same colors had molded again. Disgusting. And, too late for me return.

> 3 dayOnly problem I have ever had with Arteza is that they dont sell replacement tubes of any of the paints you can buy. Once the color is used up, you are SOL unless you buy a whole new set. This of course tends to make me look at other paint brands such as Golden or Turner paints.

Greater than one weekComing from a beginner with guache this paint is pretty decent. Pros: - color selection - rich, vibrant colors -pearl colors are really beautiful - paint layed down pretty smooth and dried to a matte finish. -a little goes a long way - gives you two white colors which is great for mixing. Cons - some of the colors are a bit transparent , even the ones that are marked opaque. This is most prominent when laying a lighter color over a darker color (ex. Black). This can be remedied by adding less water or a second layer. - pearl colors are beautiful but did not lay well over darker colors. - not many skin shades in this kit so be ready to mix colors.

> 3 dayIve been using these for about 6 months now and I basically like them. Because of their low price, theyre a great alternative to premium gouache brands. Im using these dry from a palette. Although they crack and crumble like most gouache, they do reactivate easily and offer good coverage. Note: If I tip the palette, the little pieces of dried paint fall out of their compartments and mix together, something thats typical of most gouache brands. (My Holbein set is an exception.) As expected, these paints dont have the pigment load of a high quality paint brand like my Holbein set. I find the Arteza gouache mostly acceptable. My issues with this set is 1. The metallic colors dont have much shimmer, and 2. the color assortment is too garish and neon for my taste. I was not happy with my initial paintings because they were so bright. However, I realized that I can get great subtle colors when I mix my own colors. Thats not what I intended when I purchased these. I bought this set intending to have a good selection of premixed colors so I wouldnt have to mix my own. The mixing takes time, but Im getting better at it. If youre someone who loves bright neon colors, youll probably love this set. I would definitely recommend these to beginning/intermediate artists who want to familiarize themselves with gouache painting without breaking the bank to do it.
