Great quality item. Easy to set up. Works great. Instantly noticeable network improvement. I bought this router to enhance my gaming quality. It works well for redesign latency for demanding games as well as improved quality of vr gaming with and with out the link attached.

Great router for an apartment, if you have even a small house then get something with more strength.

Shes a chonky girl, but Ill be darned if she doesnt pump out some fierce Wi-Fi signals. Fixed basically all of my home connection issues and significantly increase the speed to my mobile devices.

Bought this to upgrade from Gigabit to 2.5 Gbps, replacing a Synology RT2600ac router. Hardware wise this is a solid router and I got the expected raw data throughput etc. Things get a lot less favorable when you enable parental controls or try to simply collect data on how much data has been sent and received. For either of these features you need to allow your traffic to be monitored by a 3rd party (Trend Micro). I understand that for parental controls, you need access to a blacklist / whitelist database and that these need to be updated / maintained. What I do not understand how a list of sites that I visit helps updating / maintaining such a database. This is even more the case for something as simple as how much data Ive downloaded / uploaded over the past week. Without consenting to the data sharing, you can only see live traffic. On the Synology router all of this was done locally and the parental controls run off a blacklist / whitelist database that you can specify. Additionally, the user interface for the Synology router parental controls is much better (for example, it allows for several devices to be assigned to a profile and then you can set the rules for the profile, on the ASUS you need to do this device by device). Finally, on the Synology I was able to run a DNS server on the router, this is not possible on the ASUS. In the end, Ive decided to return this device and wait for a Synology router with multiple 2.5 Gbps ports.

As a user of a lot of different stand alone routers and mesh networks I can honestly say this performs at a better consistency than any others I’ve tried. I have 400x20 (provisioned for 480) and I always pull 330-350 on the other side of my 1300 sq foot home (walls are drywall and doors are faux wood) but with this new setup I consistently pull 470-480x20. Highly recommend.

I have tried a LOT of routers over the last couple of years searching for the BEST signal I could get! Well folks, I have FOUND it! I just replaced my Netgear Nighthawk that I paid quite a bit more for it at $279, this Asus was $222. The netgear was ALWAYS dropping the connection!!! Plus, it kept flashing an orange light on the TVs wired hookup! This router took me MAYBE 5 minutes to get its firmware updated and connected/running! NO orange lights and WAYYYY faster speed than the Netgear!!!! DEFINITELY a keeper! HIGHLY recommend!!!!!

Overall, this seems like a pretty solid router so far. Came from an Asus RT-N66U router, which was rock solid & stable but not capable of giving us the 500Mbps Internet speeds we upgraded to. We do now get the speeds we should get and even the wifi is fast and not much latency variation. That said, there are a few quirks - most are not the routers fault except for one, and Ill get that out of the way first. The wifi range of this router doesnt still quite seem to be as much as the RT-N66U - its strength was just enough for a stable connection in my garage but with the new router, I cannot get a few devices in the garage to work. Now on to the other quirks. Some devices dont seem to want to play nice with this router - probably because they use outdated and/or quirky hardware. No matter what I try, I cannot get our Tablo to connect to this router. We dont use the Tablo much, if at all anymore, so not a big deal to us but may be for others. We have 2 Filimin friendship lamps - they were quirky getting them to work. For starters, we had to shut off the setting which combines the 2 bandwidths into the 1 SSID. Also discovered the lamps didnt want to work when turning on the QoS setting for gaming devices, so that needs to stay off. Also, we had 2 Amazon Echos that went offline and had to be unplugged & plugged back in - that might have also been the QoS setting - but that remains to be seen.

My 2 story house is small (1100 square feet) and the signal is weak on 2nd floor opposite side of the house. the router is literally 30 feet away at most.
