> 24 hourBought 2 of these monitors (several months apart) for a new computer build. Good quality, and the screens offer up a lot of detail in games. The only downside I can really say about them, is that it is very hard to get them to match up even after calibrating. Comparing them side to side after calibration, there seems to be slight color issues, and one screen seems slightly warmer, while the other slightly cooler- this is normal even with 2 of the same monitors due to manufacturing differences. Calibrating any monitor is going to be necessary, and these are no different. Right out of the box, the monitors are good almost as is, and very little calibration is needed for anyone just wanting to use it for general computer work. For gaming however, take the time to learn how to properly calibrate the monitors for the best gaming experience. If you currently have a smaller desk, these monitors might take up a lot of desk space with their default stands, and upgrading to a better stand might be the solution. I used the monitors for over a year with their included stands, before finally purchasing a third-party VIVO dual monitor stacking stand (look for my review on it). Overall the default stands are nice, sturdy, and allow for good adjustment, but for someone like me who needs dual monitors, consider upgrading the stand later on to fit your needs.

> 24 hourNote: My old monitor was a 24inch Samsung widscreen monitor with a 3000:1 contrast ratio. This is an absolute beautiful monitor! The colors are vibrant and everything looks so smooth and crisp. The first time I plugged it in I just started at my desktop background for a couple minutes, and then started browsing pictures on the internet. It was truly a whole new experience. My friend came over a couple days after I had installed it, and he was blown away too. Games, internet, movies, photos, all look amazing. Youre going to see a lot more detail that you missed before, even if you had a similar sized monitor. The 144hrz of the monitor means 144fps, compared with the conventional 60-75 hrz (60-75 fps). If you play the latest games, and are a huge gamer, you probably wont be able to notice a difference in framerate, since the target fps is around 40-60 with your video card. But if you play older games that support higher frame rates, or you play games at lower quality to get 100~ fps, then this will be a huge jump. MAKE SURE TO SET YOUR DISPLAY OPTIONS TO 144HRZ TO EXPERIENCE IT PROPERLY! One thing to note when handling the monitor: When tilting it 90 degrees, from landscape to portrait, If its too low you can scratch the pristine base. Make sure to lift up the monitor as high as possible before rotating it. I scratched mine sadly. :( If you want to do 3D, you are going to have to buy special Nvidia 3D glasses and youll need an Nvidia compatible video card. The glasses are around $50-$100, and the card could go well above $200. I already have the card, and I hope to buy the glasses soon.

> 24 hourBrightness/Contrast - wow, its greats for the movies and games that you might enjoy the contrast and brightness ratios that it offers. Stand - pivots and rotates for those who like the option to flip their screen 144 HZ - Amazing for gaming and you need some decent gpu setup to even make use of the 144 hz. Its only the downside, but you can always pickup a cheaper 60 hz monitor. Sound - Not too many monitors do the whole integrated speakers too often, which works great for consoles that you plug into the monitor and it has a headphone so you dont bother others. 3d support - Granted it works should you have the right 3d glasses to work for games and movies, but it when it does; its great. Settings - take a bit of time to adjust the screen, so it doesnt bother your eyes that much. Just wished you could set your own predefined settings that you could switch easily. Like the game/night view, standard, and rgb modes. The monitor is seeming to fail, and it has been flashing white constantly lately. Not really sure whats going on here. Had the monitor for at least 6 months and now it seems to do this while gaming or watching a movie. Looked up to see if anyone else is having this issue. Not really much on it. Probably going to need to get a replacement soon. Well, the screen acts up and in which there is alot of flickering going on and then seemingly just stops. Update: 1/29 The warranty - is so slow. Like one to two weeks to get a replacement sent out after you send in your old monitor. Advanced replacement can be sent out on your behalf; well if you want a 250 charge on your card. Advanced replacement still takes one to weeks; irregardless of sending in the monitor and then waiting the one to weeks out. Any who, rma process is supposed to take two to three day, then you use the fedex shipping that asus gives you. Of course asus covers shipping fees, which is nice not too worry about. Wish there was an expedited shipping on the advanced replacement or returning process. Probably at least a month without a monitor sucks, but at least the warranty will cover this.

> 24 hourThis Asus monitor, for the money, is one of the best on the market right now for a PC or Apple computer. If you are buying this for your gaming console you will only be using the HDMI connection and losing the well-defined picture this monitor is capable of reproducing, especially with a higher Refresh Rate. -- Comparison Statistics -- :: Response Time (GTG): 1 ms. :: Maximum Refresh Rate: 144hz. :: Screen Diagonal Size: 24 inches :: Screen Dimensions: 22-3/8 (W) x 13-5/16 (H) x 1-7/8 (D) :: Telescoping Ability: 16 to 20-3/8 Total Height [The number is the top of the monitor] :: Tilt Capability: Forward and backward :: Stand Dimension: 9 inch Diameter :: Speakers: 2 x 2 watts :: Ports: Display Port, Dual Link DVI, HDMI :: Headphone Output: None :: USB Ports: None -- What Is Need to Use The Monitor at HD -- :: A graphics card capable of reproducing a 144hz. Refresh Rate :: A computer graphics card with Dual Link Display Port or DVI-D connectors :: Optional: An ICC Profile (a set pre-configured values) to help you set up a balanced color palette -- The Computer System for comparison -- :: Dell Studio XPS 8100 (about 5 years old) :: Intel Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20Ghz. :: 8GB DDR3-SDRAM Dual Channel Memory :: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750ti Graphics Card w/ 2MB memory If you are looking to upgrade your monitor, with a 60-70hz refresh rate and a slow Response Time, this is the one. You definitely bump up considerably when you purchase this monitor. I play on World of Tanks using the High Definition mode. The difference in the colors and detail are very noticeable provided you have a graphics card capable of running High-Def with a 144hz Refresh Rate. The colors from the Asus reproduced out of the box were atrocious when hooked up to my PC. I tried using my on-board NVIDIA cards program but it never came close to what I was searching for in terms of color balance and brightness. It took too much time, so it was off to the search engine I went. I was able to find several web pages that had an ICC Profile pre-configured for my NVIDIA graphics card and all that was needed, after installation, was to tweak the brightness a bit. Many thanks for those people who put them out there. Using the ICC Profile saved me a lot of time. If you need help understanding how to load an ICC Profile once you have downloaded it to your computer just search, Using ICC Profile in Windows. I cant guarantee you will find the ICC Profile for your particular graphics card but if you do find one it saves a lot of time and experimentation. If you are a hands-on person there are also multiple web pages that will help you, step by step, through the process of using your graphics card software program to set up your monitor and then tweak it for game play. The telescoping stand and tilt works easily and can be moved on a moment’s notice if needed. The monitor feels solid on the desk, unlike some monitors I have owned. It is real nice to have a solid stand and monitor standing on your desk without the threat of the cat or child accidentally knocking it over. I have not used the speakers on the monitor because I use gaming headphones. I cannot comment on their capability. Monitor speakers I have used didnt have dynamic sound so unless you are hard-up for sound dont bother. This card gets 5 stars because it delivered, in spades, the best color and image definition, as well as some nice extras, Ive seen since using computers in the past 10 years. Are there better monitors out there? Yes, but this price point makes it a great choice for budget-minded gamers with a huge bump in definition above your normal graphics card. Just do your home- work to make sure your computer and graphics card have the capability to use its maximum settings. You will be very pleased with the results. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Make sure you change the graphics card Refresh Rate to 144hz!

> 24 hourThe Asus VG248QE is THE best gaming monitor for the price due to its affordability, features, and build quality. This monitor is, in my opinion, the perfect size to meet the needs of someone who plays multiple genres of games. I play a MOBA, an MMORPG, and various other titles of different genres off and on and the monitor is the perfect size for all of the gaming that I do. The screen itself is incredibly sharp and offers great viewing from most angles. As is the case with TN panels, you really need to be sitting in front of the monitor for the best experience. If your situation differs, you need to consider paying up for an IPS panel - the cost is significantly higher but viewing angle problems will no longer be present. As a side note... to confirm my theory that this monitor is the perfect gaming monitor at the right size, I have seen it all over professional gaming events on Twitch. The 144hz difference, in my opinion, was incredible and well worth the cost over a traditional PC monitor. You will notice from the moment you set the refresh rate in Windows that your mouse moves more smoothly like butter and you gain so many more frames of vision that you were losing before! One thing that is not explained well out of the box is that you must use the included dual-link DVI cable to achieve the maximum refresh rate of 144hz and a setting in Windows needs to be set as it will default to 30hz or 60hz. I cant recommend this monitor enough to all PC gamers requiring quick reaction times (any game online). Note: I performed independent research and asked gamer friends for their advice before purchasing and was not provided a review copy. I have no involvement with Asus though I am very impressed with them now.

> 24 hourGood screen size but behaves funny when the laptop screen is up. It automatically changes resolution to the max stated. If laptop screen is down then resolution is max 1980x1200

> 24 hourWhen I was buying this monitor, it was supposed to be the second in my setup. For the price I didnt expect much from it, and assumed my primary monitor will not change (120hz, 3D support, etc.). However, I quickly changed my mind when unboxed it and had a chance to compare. No ghosting and no flickering even when V-Sync is disabled @183Hz. Its OK to expect some flickering when you disable V-Sync, but on this monitor I havent seen it a single time. It depends on the games, though. The brightness is awesome, which is especially important when using 3D goggles. In my setup I could only use 120Hz in 3D, but this was the goggles limitation (NVidia, 1st-gen). After almost 3 years of using it, I still cannot tell anything bad about it. UPDATE. Now, when I use it for more than 6 years, I do have a complaint (not affecting the score though). The way how this monitor talks with the host devices via HDMI/DP drives crazy some of the modern devices. I have a MacBook Pro in the household that crashes to kernel occasionally, being attached to this monitor via MiniDP=>DP cable. It works just fine being attached to a newer monitor. My main system has RTX 2080 video card onboard, and it simply cannot boot with this monitor attached to any port (USB-C/HDMI/DP). I never thought a monitor can affect the host system that bad, but this is a proven fact in my setup. The main system works flawlessly with a newer monitor (Benq), but if I switch it to this monitor (doesnt matter if its a secondary or the only one), the system simply hangs in POST. Its a mystery which Im not going to solve. Ill replace the monitor instead. It fully paid off during these 6 years anyway, so no score penalty. This monitor worths its money.

> 24 hourThis is my first monitor I have purchased since college years ago. Let me begin by giving a TL;DR: Excellent introductory 144hz monitor that has terrible color profiles out of the box. Let me begin by saying that this is my first 144hz monitor, and I couldnt be happier with my purchase. The response time is excellent and the refresh rate makes for buttery smooth performance for gaming, as well as day to day windows and linux use. The build quality is nice, and I quite like the stand for what it is. Its easy to adjust the height with two fingers, and the swivel on the bottom of the monitor stand has been a great for convenience. One thing that I didnt notice immediately was how terrible the calibration on this monitor is out of the box. It is EXTREMELY bright, and the color accuracy is lacking. Dont let this get you down, though. A few quick Google searches will reveal forum posts that explain how to set up windows color calibration profiles properly for this monitor. After following a few guides and tweaking my color and gamma settings, everything looks much, much better, and my eye strain due to the brightness was reduced greatly. This isnt a huge deal, but for the average user who has the take what you get mindset and doesnt think to calibrate the monitor, its worth mentioning that you shouldnt settle for good enough here. Your mileage may vary slightly, but it is definitely worth calibrating this bad boy. In the end, my significant other became jealous of my fancy new monitor. She loved it so much that we went to a local store and purchased a second one for her gaming rig as well! (I didnt want to wait for the device to arrive via Amazon. I know, I know.) Highly recommend. Rating 4 stars due to the poor color and brightness calibration out of the box. Other than that, this thing is bang on. Great job Asus.

> 24 hourOverall I have had this monitor for about a week so far and I love it. This was an upgrade from my 20 (1600x900) and that size upgrade is so great to have. PROS: > 144Hz refresh rate is probably one of, if not the most amazing thing on this monitor. Playing video games on this thing feels like playing butter because everything is just so dang smooth. Of course your FPS should be rather high to actually enjoy the 144Hz. > Extremely fast response time (~1ms). > Has a little box/hook thing on the backside of it to keep your cables together. > The swivel/rotation/tilt feels very smooth and nice to me. > Anti-reflection is very nice on the screen. > Mine came with no bad back-light bleed or dead pixels! (ordered from Amazon) CONS: > As with most reviews of the VG248QE, the colors seem very bad out of the box and require calibration for the most part. I have always used TN panels and therefore dont really notice that huge of a color difference between this one and other TN panels. However, if you switch from 60Hz to 144Hz, the colors seem to wash out slightly so keep that in mind. > The Dual-Link DVI cable that is included is short (for me) so I had to move my tower a little closer towards me until I get my BlueRigger DVI cable. > Does not cook me dinner. Other Thoughts: I have not tried the Lightboost yet but I hear its a really nice thing to have. This monitor supports Nvidia 3D Vision but you need the actual components yourself. This monitor apparently comes with speakers but I have not tried them out yet because I have a separate audio system so I do not know the quality of that. Straight out-of-the-box, the brightness is enormous on this monitor and it was hurting my eyes at first until I turned it down.

> 24 hourI have had this monitor for just about 2 weeks now, I gotta say, when you go 144hz, you will not wanna go back to anything else. I was on the fence with the purchase of this monitor, as I have read both good and bad things about. I did not get it with any dead pixels, nor do I have any to date, nor have I seen any sign of bleeding. I spent a good few months looking for a good gaming monitor, and I looked at well over a 100, I kept coming back to this one. I will be buying another one. I have been playing FO4 in ultra mode (All settings in ultra), Witcher 3 in ultra, doom in ultra, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided in ultra, and have had no blurring or screen tears of any kinds. I would suggest this monitor to anyone, not quit sure, and tired of that endless searching for a good gaming monitor. The monitor has ports for 1x HDMI, 1x Dual-link DVI-D and, 1x DisplayPort. My Asus monitor came with 1x Dual-link DVI-D cable, power cord, and driver disk. I would 100% recommend this Gaming Monitor to family, friend, worst enemy, and anyone looking for a good gaming monitor at a great price. P.S. 144hz only runs on Dual-link DVI-D and DisplayPort. Again, my monitor came with 1x Dual-link DVI-D cable, and you can pick up a gold plated DisplayPort cable on Amazon, for less than $12 USD. P.S.S. To get the Nvidia Vision 2 Kit to work proper with all 3D movies, make sure you are running the Dual-link DVI-D cable. I have had problems running this with 3D movies with the Displayport cable, with my CyberLink DvD software and Nvidia Vision kit.
