Greater than one week5 Star product, a must have for serious or competitive gamers! First off I have done a lot of research in trying to find the perfect gaming monitor/TV’s and gaming monitors are the way to go, make sure to get a gaming monitor not just a regular monitor, there is a difference. (I currently have Xbox 360 and also Xbox one) I have read ton of reviews and by far the people who had bad reviews on this monitor are wrong. The issues I have read about them having problems with their monitor I have had none and my friend as well has had no issues (I believe they have had defective product which they can return). Asus also has a 3 year warranty on this bad boy! Now people have said BenQ is the big boy on the block and I believe they are wrong. I have played on BenQ monitors and they really don’t compare to the value and design of Asus. Now I was also worried about the size of this monitor… YOU DON’T NEED TO BE. I have had 27, 29inch monitors and what this monitor lacks in size makes up in performance. Pros /Features– HDMI 1080P 80,000,000-1 Contrast ratio 144hz refresh rate. 1ms input lag which makes a huge difference. If you play a lot of FPS games, input lag is very important. This monitor comes with speakers which are a plus, they are a little weak for my taking, and I use turtle beach headsets when I game. GAME MODE- This monitor has a pretty cool feature called game mode where you can have crosshairs on the center of your screen, this is really good for Gear of War when you need to blind fire. Also has a game timer where you can use it for COD game types like search and destroy when you need to use a timer for a spawn. There is so much to list so little room to write. I don’t want to make this review a novel. OVERALL I love this monitor. It is one of the best on the market and I hope this review helped you out.

> 3 dayOkay, I have had this monitor for a while now. And it took a VERY LONG TIME to be able to get my settings right to make the screen look good. And my comparison was to my old off-brand tv that I also have connected. Out of the box, the monitor will look terrible. It will. The off-brand tv looked way better. I am going to post all of my settings so that it will hopefully help someone else. The reason I am only giving the monitor 4 stars is the fact that the speakers are completely useless and that was the main reason I chose this monitor. Dont use the speakers on this monitor. They are some of the worst speakers Ive ever heard. I bought a nice, THX rated, Logitech speaker set to fix that issue. If they wouldve decreased the price and took the speakers out, I wouldve given this monitor 5 stars. It spins around on its stand for easy adjustment. You can also raise or lower the screen by holding down the base and push the display using its frame up or down as needed. It doesnt take much pressure to adjust, but it will hold firmly in position. The build of the entire monitor screams pro gamer monitor. And I would agree. 144hz. If you havent seen a monitor functioning at 144hz, you really need to see it. 59/60 hertz shows trails and seems to have its own motion blur. When Im playing any game, this is distracting, I might try to predict the balls movement in the game Rocket League and then I miss because the low hertz cause a lot of problems. If you are using a tv for any of your gaming(like I did until I got this monitor) It is an amazing jump. You will instantly see all of the movement without any trails or motion blur. Nice clear fast movement. It wont look like a low frame rate or anything. The top review for this item gives advice before you buy about whether your computer can handle 144hz or not, I suggest that you read that review as well. Most other screen types also have really high input lag shown while this monitor is only 1 ms. You are unable to see input lag at 1ms. Its awesome. Now for my settings. I did not like the settings that were supposed to be the best. The screen looked foggy and the colors didnt look right. Splendid > Theater Mode Blue Light Filter > Level 0 Brightness > 60 Contrast > 83 Saturation > 50 (Dont worry, the colors are still very vibrant at this level) Color Temp > User Mode R > 89 G > 89 B > 90 Skin Tone > Natural Smart View > Off Image Sharpness > 60 Trace Free > 80 ASCR > Off Now whether you like these settings as they are is up to you. You may want to tweak them more. If you modify your settings afterward, post them here so I can try them as well. Sharpness is the only thing I cant decide on. 60 should be the max and you may want to lower it to either 40 or 50.

> 3 dayI purchased this monitor on April 10th, 2014 and received it on April 17th. Im going to go over what I liked and do not like about it. I owned a Ben-Q XL2420T 120HZ monitor prior to this unit, so I will be comparing both of them according to performance and price. First Ill talk about 144hz compared to 60hz for those who do not know: 144Hz is a way of describing how many times the image on your monitor refreshes every second. 60hz means that the image you see on your monitor is relayed from your computer to your monitor 60 times per second, and 144hz means 144 times per second. Basically you see more then double the amount of information your graphics card is processing with a 144hz monitor compared to a 60hz monitor. NOTE: If you are looking to purchase this monitor for console gaming, there are better alternatives. You will not be able to utilize the 144hz feature. Consoles only put out 30-60 frames per second, so a 60Hz monitor is all you need. Now on to the review Pros- -144 Hz is amazing. There is no ghosting when making fast movements in high action games. The increased amount of frames you are able to see gives you an extremely good edge against your opponent. -Perfect screen size for me. The 24 inch screen allows me to have a good field of view in the games that I play so I dont miss valuable information, but isnt so large that I need to constantly scan with my eyes to be aware of the image on the screen. -Good physical size. The circular base of the stand measures roughly 9 inches, so it doesnt take up more desk space than it needs. -PRICE!!!!!!! I paid about 500 USD for my Ben-Q XL2420T. This monitor has 24 more Hz than the benq, similar build quality, and costs about half as much. At 279.99, this is the best monitor I have ever purchased. Cons- -The colors out of the box are a little bland, but with proper tweaking I found color settings that worked well for the games I play. All in all, this is an amazing monitor, the price is right, the features are worth more to me than the price. 5 stars.

> 3 daySo this is my first impression of it so far after using it for about 7 hours in. As a person who updated from a 75hz overclocked monitor and have had 60hz monitors all their life, this was a huge upgrade for me. The games that I play (Mostly fps) run very smoothly and compared to 60hz monitor I had previously, it had much less motion blur, and Id like to say the experience was a little TOO smooth for me because I had come from such rigid frame loading. Anyway the first problem I had kind of noticed for me is that the monitors color is extremely bright and about 1 hour – 2 hours into gaming I had eye strain and noticeably blurred vision which doesnt normally occur to me on my previous monitor after 10+ hours. Id say try to adjust the monitor to your liking, but the lighting even right now is kind of killing my eyes. The price for this monitor though in my opinion is fantastic for its value, though I had hoped that this monitor could be moved on the Y axis rather than a tilt up and down, but that is to be expected. The screen size for me is exceptional and personally moving from an 20 screen makes quite the difference. If youre considering buying this as your first monitor, do it!! But if this isnt your first I honestly would say if you are willing to sacrifice $50-60 more, then I believe you can get a monitor that feels much nicer but seeing as this is my first monitor and I wanted to play safe, I am very satisfied with what I had received and a lot of the color and brightness and be adjusted in the monitor along with for me using the NVIDIA Control Panel. I wish I could give you more information since I hadnt found any other reviews for this monitor but Ill be sure to post updates every few weeks to tell you how it has been for me.

> 3 dayI bought 4 of these monitors as I just may have a small gaming addiction. Although better than having a crack addiction, my choice led me here for a monitor with a better frequency which in turn gives better refresh. All in all, I do not regret one thing except that I had to pay for them. I used 4 of these, in pairs vertically to frame a 30 Dell I had previously. I set my old Samsung displays which, neither were Vesa compliant, on other PCs in the home giving them major upgrades and then used these. I mainly game 5 or 6 different games at the same time and needed more space. I do however love the joy of being able to do research having word open, multiple webpages and documents and maybe a program or two without flipping through. Very productive. Pros: 1. They are pretty darned fast with no flaws that I have found, dead pixel or image projection. 2. Although they came in with some settings that were quite bright, another reviewer gave the link to a preset profile which was super easy to upload and bring them to a more manageable appearance. Worth the little extra effort, the profile works for all as they are simply the same display. You may need to tweak it, nothing is made exactly the same and you may simply not like the way it looks. It is called preference. 3. I have triple SLI Nvidia gtx680s. The ability to use the displayport on these screens was a big plus. Displayport will be the standard as they will shift vga, dvi-x out at some point for the sheer performance. DVI was used on one as I only had three ports and that works great as well. The displayport interfaced displays were jacked up to 144 mhz but I have to tell you that I am unsure I personally see the massive difference. Maybe I do not play the right games, but Crysis 2 looks sweet 4. Although I didnt use them, the base looked real nice. This is one place that some displays really skimp you. Not much more for me to tell as I did not implement them. 5. Cable management was a nice little touch. I still cable tied everything down the back side but they do provide a way to route the cables in a clean manner. Cons 1. Minor, very minor. Since the buttons were on the bottom, I needed to leave some room to have the ability to turn them off if needed. Do I? Almost never and that is only because of the stand and placement I used. Not pulling a star for that. I would buy them again but I sure hope I dont feel the need to :) Update 09/112019: Still going strong and not one issue after all these years. A couple small notes: - Asus as a brand has lost all my respect because of the lack of quality their overall company brings out in products today including my new graphics cards, but these displays held up great with 0 display issues. - In regards to the graphics cards, I have 2 Asus Strix GTX1070s and both have lost one display port now. One lasted a month and needed warranty replacement for a firmware lockup and the new one came only to lose one of the two display ports like the other. This is a trend. I do not believe the display is an issue because i can switch to the working display port on the same card with no issue and the other that went out was to one of the other screens. - Sound. Not sure why it likes to do this, but every single time I update my graphics driver it latches the sound driver as default. Weird, I didnt tell it to but Nvidia seems to think my main sound needs to come out through one of my displays. Multiple ways you can stop this. - When loading the graphics driver, always click advanced setup and choose clean install, graphics driver and physics driver only. Skip the sound driver all the way and it will never mess with default sound. - Go into sound properties and delete the sound devices pertaining to the display. Drives me nuts. Displays themselves still rock and even with the Asus name I would consider buying them again. Really, REALLY hard to beat a Samsung display but these have worked real well for me.

> 3 dayBuilt-in 2W stereo, DisplayPort, Dual-link DVI-D, and HDMI ports, 1920x1080, 80,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio, and 350 cd/m² of brightness, 144 Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time are some of the awesome features that this badboy display features. This display has a minimum black level of .0121 cd/m^2 and brightness level of 412 cd/m^2. I have tested this display with various games (BF4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Lichdom Battlemage. Compared to my old monitor Acer G235HAbd 23 (which I bought in 2012 and still use) I dont have to worry about ghosting, lag, or choppy action due to fast response time & refresh rate, colors were more crisper, contrast was much more definitive, and the difference in brightness is comparable to a led flashlight vs. candle light (yup it is pretty bright). This display is certainly an eye opener in my perspective. However, one thing to note is that the colors are washed out, and brightness level is too high with stock settings, and so you have to manually tweak the settings in order to get a good image quality. The HDMI cable limits the refresh rate to 60 Hz, but the DVI cable offers full 144 Hz refresh rate. I have not tested the built in speakers so I am not sure about sound quality of the built-in speakers, but if you ask any gamer they will say they either use a headset or external sound system hooked up to the computer so it is not a big deal for me at least. The VG248QE doesnt have a gamma control so it has gamma setup horribly that an attempt to achieve a 2.2 power law gamma will actually crush your blacks (yeah - its that bad). All is not lost as these problems can be fixed with some calibrating and an ICC profile. (Tutorials can be found on tomshardware.com and reddit (Just search calibrating asus vg248qe). Not as good looking as a IPS panel, but no one is going to buy this for graphic design where accurate colors are a must-have. This is a gaming monitor and the inaccuracy of the colors really isnt that noticeable once calibrated.

> 3 dayI got to start with this. This is a great monitor. Read all other reviews for more details, not much I can comment about. -- #TL;DR: Around 2 years of owning the monitor, displayport randomly gives up after PC wakes up on sleeps or screensaver for my 4th time, other ports are not in use but still functional. Warranty service covered me for my last 3 times (2 replace, 1 repair). Great service, about to request the 4th if they allow. -- The only reason why I knocked a star off, is because from time to time, the display port of the monitor will just suddenly decide to stop working. I usually sleeps my computer, rarely shuts it off unless needed to. However, so far 3 times when I wake my computer up, the display simply wont turn on. This problem only occurs on display port because HDMI and DVI sill works as intended. I tested with different PC pots, monitors, and cable and sure is the monitors issue. My first 2 warranty services simply sent me new displays, with the 3rd repaired and sent back. Now Im about to request the 4th warranty service (if they allow). This time I kept my computer on when I left for dinner, came back in 40 minutes to wake screensaver, and found the pixels on this monitor all messy while the 2nd (different) monitor is all normal (connected via HDMI). Sure tried different ports and cable, still the display port issue on monitor. For your information, my friend purchased an exact same monitor with me with almost identical PC setup, but he have not yet to experience this issue. Between each displayport failure, I assure that I did not plug/unplug the cable for more than 3 times, so it shouldnt be physically damaged.

> 3 dayI have been happy with most ASUS products I have owned over the years. Reading some of the harsh critical comments about this unit did give me pause, but I went with my gut feeling and purchased it anyway. So far I am very happy with it. I find the standard setting to be the best compromise as far as what, to my eyes, seems accurate and natural looking for games. I bought this to replace a 20 HP which I got at Walmart years ago. However, I wanted to step up from 60Hz to 122 or 144, since my video card is fully capable of 150 frames per second on my games. I play FPS pc games pretty exclusively and this monitor has given me a slight edge, when combined with a larger mouse pad and my Razer mouse/keyboard. The bigger screen and smoother action has helped me with twitch targeting slightly, and is much more pleasurable to view overall. Foolishly, I initially went to a website to find what the experts recommended as far as user-tweakable settings and, along with a few other things, cranked up the Trace Free setting to 100, as directed. Later, when I tested one of my games, I was getting horrible ghost-like edges and a rainbowish motion blur. Of course, I completely forgot about the Trace Free setting and became disillusioned when I returned all settings to what I thought was factory default, and the problem persisted. Eventually, after much exasperation, I returned the Trace Free setting to factory, (40), and the monitor looks beautiful now. As far as the low ratings here, I must conclude that there are simply enthusiasts here who are a bit too snobbish for their own good. Are there better monitors out there? Sure, I have seen a couple, but, if you are like me and you do not want to invest $600 in a monitor, then look no further. This one will be a very welcome upgrade. I recommend you buy it.

> 3 dayIve had 1 of these for a few years and the color finally became less yellow due to aging or something. I really noticed this cuz when I got another to match the other due to Windows being crap about 2 monitors with different refresh rates, the new one was VERY noticeably more yellow than my old original one. Im not sure if itll help but Ive put discord light theme on it and have shut off screen sleep and hopefully in a week or 2 the yellow tint will go away. Im not sure how long it took for the other cuz I never really noticed that itd gotten better till I got the new one. Also I dont know if it was cuz of a bad built in HDMI splitter on the Hauppauge Colossus 2 capture card, or just the fault of the monitor, but I had an incident where there was a blue line through the screen and nothing would fix it until I completely unplugged the monitor from the wall. Now it works fine for the most part except when my computer is off for days at a time. I was out of town for almost 2 weeks and came back and the monitor was not getting a signal until I completely killed all power. Ive had to do this multiple times, I guess it could be a bad capacitor or something Im no electronics expert. Just if you have blue lines or no signal even though you are sure there should be just unplug for about 10 seconds and it should be fixed. Just hitting the power switch will not do however.

> 3 daySince Amazon lumps multiple models together on one review list, and search results eliminate the section which identifies which model is being reviewed: This is for the ASUS VG248QE 24 Full HD 1920x1080 144Hz 1ms HDMI Gaming Monitor. It also has Display Port (DP) and DVI-D Dual Link (although I thought it is DVI-I Dual Link, but I dont want to unhook the cable to verify, so Ill go with the listing details). Last purchased Feb 2, 2014, Style: 24 FHD 1ms 144Hz Height Adjustable | Pattern Name: Gaming Monitor After owning this monitor for nearly NINE YEARS, I am still very pleased by it. Overall, there is a lot to like, and not much to dislike about this monitor. I primarily use it for gaming, working, and other typical computer use. The image is crisp, the colors are vivid, the blacks are deep, and can be made even deeper using ASCR, there is barely any backlight bleeding, ZERO dead pixels (no green, black, or bright pixels - nothing at all wrong with the image), fast 1ms response time, high 144hz refresh rate - there really is very much to like. (Other than something I did - my own fault - to slightly damage the surface with a sharp object one time about 7 years ago) the monitor is visually and cosmetically flawless. I only have two very small complaints after almost a decade of constant use: 1. The frame on the top is just barely starting to lift off the top in a short portion of the middle, and occasionally allows a bit of the backlight to shine through - but even this issue, I think, is going away after I have worked on pushing the frame back in place and it seems to no longer have the issue anymore. It might also have to do with temperature differences due to changing seasons resulting in slight expanding or contracting of the material. Really not a big deal, and almost not worth mentioning, but I want to give an honest, fair, and complete review. 2. The height adjustment has recently (within the last year or so - i.e. after about 8 years of use) started to lose its ability to hold the monitor at its position. However, this comes with three pertinent caveats: - First, my wife and daughter very often use my computer when I am away and move the monitor down, and then I have to move it back up when I get back, so it experiences a lot of wear and tear. - Second, I have my very heavy Logitech gaming headset conveniently hanging on the back of the monitor (because it has such a perfectly shaped section which, although probably not designed for this, perfectly holds my headset in place) which significantly adds to the overall weight of the monitor hanging on the height-adjustment mechanism. - Third, even with the problem existing, by moving the monitor to the desired position and holding it in place for a few moments, it will typically hold its position, even with the heavy headset hanging on the back. So, thats it. No other cons. I havent read many of the other reviews, but I did see something about color issues: this is fairly easily addressable via monitor settings, and if needed, Nvidia Control Center settings (or the equivalent AMD settings). Also, if you have any issues with Ghosting, I suggest adjusting your Trace Free setting to either 60 or 80. I advise not using 100, as that seems to overcorrect the issue and introduce inverse ghosting, if I recall correctly from previous testing. Setting it too low (i.e. 40 or below) doesnt seem to correct it enough, but it could work for some people. The only reason I am shopping around for another monitor at this point is because my wifes monitor (different brand/model) died and so I am giving her this monitor. Otherwise, I would plan to just keep using this monitor for years to come. I highly recommend buying this monitor.
