> 3 dayI have had this monitor for 16 months now and it has lived up to my expectations in every way. The picture is sharp and clear and the colors are vibrant. Not a gamer, so over-top specs were not was I was looking for. I needed a good general purpose monitor that would be suitable for watching sports too. I having been planning to update my graphics card (like so many for us) but still using my old Nvidia GTX1060, which is not quite up to the mark for MSFS 2020. Even so, this monitor displays great scenery. If you are looking for a good solid monitor that will serve you well for years, I highly recommend this monitor.

> 3 dayAfter a several month of use I am pretty satisfied with this monitor. I just needed a larger no frills monitor for coding and conferencing. My biggest complaint is that for a monitor with so many setting to protect your eyes from blue light, whenever my computer turns off or goes to suspend the screen goes completely, blindingly bright blue which defeats all the settings to protect your eyes, and your sleep. My second point of contention is its poor design. For such a large monitor there is only one VESA mount, and it is in a curved, circular recess (and used by the foot stand which you cant piggy-back on). You cant really mount a mini pc on the back which is so common these days even with an extension.

Greater than one weekThis Asus monitor has the highest resolution I could find in a monitor under $5000. The visuals are stunning. It powers on quickly and has features to let you delay when it would go to sleep. I am very pleased with these monitors (I bought two and have them side by side as external monitors for my laptop.

> 3 dayThis is the monitor to have if you are a serious gamer like me, I started playing games in 1980, Pac-Man and a few others and Ive been looking forward to the advancements in gaming technology, the Xbox series X and the Asus bring gaming to a new level that was missing in the gaming industry. I play Gears of war 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and in between and even gears of war 1 looks like a game that was released in 2022 because of the FPS boos

> 3 dayThis is a great monitor, dont get discouraged by the negative reviews! I encountered a lot of the problems mentioned in the negative reviews but got this thing running finely tuned with no flickering or image issues. ASUS gives you a lot of adjustments and settings on the OSD with the ability to save four profiles but none of the presets are that great out of the box and require some additional tweaking for the best picture. ASUS should have this more fine tuned when it leaves the factory for better plug and play compatibility...take note ASUS! The hardware you connect this to also makes a big difference, heres how my journey has gone since purchasing: I bought this (April 2020) to be a primary monitor that ran off a slightly older MSI gaming laptop with a nVidia GT 765M 2GB connected using the display port cable. This is where I encountered most of my problems with flickering and instability as the GT 765M was not able to handle the 3840 x 2160 resolution even with the laptop screen turned off. I gained the stability by turning the resolution down to 1920 x 1080 and by using the nVidia Recommended settings in the nVidia Control Panel. I found that tinkering with too many of these settings also resulted in flickering and blackouts. Not satisfied with this arrangement I recently decided to sell the MSI laptop and build a new micro atx tower (loved the laptop but always have been more a desktop fan because you have more upgrade options). My new tower has a Intel 10th Gen Core i3 chip with the built-in UHD Graphics 630 which has plenty of power to run this monitor at the full 3840 x 2160 resolution. UHD videos on Netflix and Disney+ look amazing and run smoothly. At the end of the day though its really dependent on the video or picture source, this also has a huge impact on the final quality (check out some of the 4K and 8K videos on YouTube while your adjusting and fine tuning the settings on the monitor). Colors look great and pop and the off viewing angles are great as well. After being on the two aforementioned systems, here are the monitor settings that I currently use: GameMode Blue Light Filter - Level 0 Brightness - 75 Contrast - 75 Saturation - 55 Color Temp - User Mode R-95 G-100 B-100 Skin Tone - Natural Smart View - OFF Sharpness - 50 (Already a high res monitor, too much decreases image quality) Trace Free - 60 (Already a high res monitor, too much decreases image quality) VividPixel - 25 (Already a high res monitor, too much decreases image quality) ASCR - ON Adaptive Sync/FreeSync - OFF (Graphics card on order, will update after install) GamePlus - OFF These are a good starting point for your initial setup (be sure to save your profile in one of the four available) or if your struggling to find a good combination. Obviously your system and personal tastes will vary and additional tweaking may be required. Cons: - The included stand has limited adjustment, it can only tilt the screen. Im assuming ASUS did this keep the cost low and most gamers will just mount on an arm anyways...I did and love it! - No USB connectors which I personally find convenient (bought a 4 port USB 3.0 hub for my desk) - Brightness could be better but most gamers probably wont mind, typically playing in darker environments. Hope this helps! (Updated 8/28/2020)

> 3 dayIts a beautiful 4K monitor and a decent bargain. There are two tiny flaws. One flaw is that it sometimes doesnt wake up when the computer does and you have to do something to the little joystick control on the back to force it to wake. Which leads to the second tiny flaw, the little joystick control on the back. Other companies who make monitors have figured this out and have implemented a series of buttons, especially a dedicated and simple on/off button. Using the little joystick on the back to both turn the monitor on and off as well as navigate through the various menus is anti-intuitive and cumbersome, and the joystick is overly-sensitive to what direction youre pushing it. If you push it in even the slightest wrong direction youre suddenly selecting something you dont want. And sometimes, even when pushing it in the correct direction, you still somehow end up selecting an option you didnt want. For me, the quality of the image and price outweigh these two tiny flaws. And, Im sure Ill get better at the joystick the more I use it. I hope.

> 3 dayIm guessing this is JUST for gamers because other than making most of my programs unusable until I adjusted the DPI setting in the program properties, I cant tell a bit of difference from my old 1080 monitor. Ive played a few 2160 movies on it and they look exactly the same as they do on the 1080 monitor. Exactly. I use a dual monitor setup and I can pull a film from one monitor to the other while its playing--dont see any advantage to the 4K. It was a waste of money for me. I wish Id stuck with two 1080s instead of trying to upgrade.

Greater than one weekI love Acer monitors and I will gladly buy another Acer product in the future. Even so, the minute I plugged this monitor in I got a bad feeling. Out of the box the colors were very washed out, like Easter egg pastels against medium gray (what should be black.) I adjusted all the settings. Then I finally found out the monitor has a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Thats great for a 2014 era monitor, but not nearly good enough for modern software development or movie viewing. Entire sections of my development website are almost unviewable. Also as others have noted, the viewing angle makes it impossible to see one color across the whole screen. Black has a gradient into muddy dark green wherever I tilt my head. I want to be clear that I love Acer and their monitors. Ive been happily using an Acer S236HL for years and it has worked flawlessly. The contrast of that 5yr old monitor is immensely superior to this. The VP28UQG is also well built, no dead pixels, crisp. Bright. The build quality is fine. But IMO its unusable. Just wanted to spare any other coders who might be rushing to pick up a 4K monitor for remote work.
