This is definitely a great gaming monitor for consoles such as the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. However, its definitely worth noting that it only has a refresh rate of 60hz which doesnt do much good for PC gaming. While it may have been due to internet connection, I have noticed some drops at times when playing Ghost Recon Wildlands on Ultra and also Very High. You may want to spend the extra money for a monitor that has a refresh rate of 144hrz. Other than that, the picture quality is gorgeous. It upscaled my regular PS4 big time. Ive never seen such vivid colors and, when playing Wildlands on PS4, I noticed some details that werent there when playing on a 1080P tv. Definitely worth the money if youre a console gamer.

I had occasional lag but not too bad. Before this I played on a plasma TV and never had a bit of lag. I was surprised since free synch is supposed to be better than playing on a tv. I liked that my eyes never burned like they do with an LED monitor so blue light is treated and I could play games all day without apparent eye strain. The most irritating thing is where the port for the HDMI and other cables are located. I had to practically turn it upside down to get the HDMI cable in and it comes out easily too.

I have another similarly priced Samsung monitor and wanted a dual set up so I decided to try this one. The Samsung blows this out the water with the quality of colors, most notably the depth of blacks. Both monitors offer a crisp picture with this one ever so slightly edging the Samsung out with finer details sometimes. Other than that it has worked flawlessly since purchased which was almost a year ago so no complaints there. Its definitely a decent monitor considering the price point but there are other options I would explore if or when it comes time to purchase again.

This is a great monitor for the price. I found that I had to have the right settings, then it looked great. I haven’t run any games on it, so I couldn’t rate that. But the 1 ms timing doesn’t hurt. I read a lot of very negative reviews about this monitor and evaluated it with these in mind. Most of them are way off base. Firstly, while some of the view modes are a little “washed-out”, I just set mine to either RGB or Theater mode. Theater mode is the best, in my opinion, because it gives the clearest, brightest picture. And it’s spectacular! I’m comparing it to my older 1900x1080 Samsung 144Hz monitor on the one hand and the OLED display on my iPhone. This monitor is not as bright as my old Samsung, but the colors are better. And this monitor’s color gamut almost seems comparable to my OLED iPhone! It’s really, really nice. Secondly, I reduced the output of only red and blue each, by 5%. This eliminated what was a little bias in the color balance that I didn’t like, but now it’s perfect! Thirdly, the whites are crisp and bright… I do have my brightness turned up to 100%, but a little lower down to 80% is fine too. I have my contrast a bit higher as well. The blacks are deep and true black. There is also subtlety in the display of gray shades. Fourthly, the resolution is awesome! So sharp and crystal clear. I’m doing photo editing on it and the nuances of high res pics come through great. I do not experience any of the display anomalies described in some of the negative reviews. Videos are smooth and spectacular. I did do a high res game benchmark and the display was fine. Looked great. But the video game benchmark result was average, because of the limiting factor of my older nvidia GeForce gtx 1650 card. I would definitely, if you have the money, get a better quality video card to power this monitor. I have been unable to get 10bit color to work, I’m pretty sure because I’m using an HDMI instead of Display Port cable. Also, this monitor is having no problem at all “waking up” when I power on my computer. It does take a little longer than my Samsung did; the screen just comes on as Windows is loading. If you are shopping for a budget computer monitor upgrade, want to save money, don’t really need a better $500 -$700 high res, high refresh rate, I highly recommend this one. 60Hz is just fine for me, looks great compared to my older 144hz monitor. I’m very impressed and pleased with this Asus monitor. The pictures I submitted for this speak for themselves. I can now update my review on this monitor with additional pertinent information. I just connected my monitor using a DisplayPort cable instead of the HDMI and found that graphics performance increased dramatically. My Passmark score for 3D graphics improved right away by more than 20%. I can now enable 10bit color and the display has improved significantly. The display now has even more clarity and brilliance than before when I said it’s spectacular. I just went: “Wow!!!”. Ultra HD videos are absolutely stunning and smooth. I gave this monitor an excellent score before, but now I’m floored! For the price, this monitor is a no-brainer. But do yourself a favor and connect it using a DisplayPort cable.

Its a beautiful 4K monitor and a decent bargain. There are two tiny flaws. One flaw is that it sometimes doesnt wake up when the computer does and you have to do something to the little joystick control on the back to force it to wake. Which leads to the second tiny flaw, the little joystick control on the back. Other companies who make monitors have figured this out and have implemented a series of buttons, especially a dedicated and simple on/off button. Using the little joystick on the back to both turn the monitor on and off as well as navigate through the various menus is anti-intuitive and cumbersome, and the joystick is overly-sensitive to what direction youre pushing it. If you push it in even the slightest wrong direction youre suddenly selecting something you dont want. And sometimes, even when pushing it in the correct direction, you still somehow end up selecting an option you didnt want. For me, the quality of the image and price outweigh these two tiny flaws. And, Im sure Ill get better at the joystick the more I use it. I hope.

It might just be that Im upgrading from a 1080p from 2010, but I am quite satisfied. Nice and dark, great response, good connectivity, and the control nub on the back is easier to use than I expected. Text (and everything else) nice and clear. As a bonus, it even has a much smaller stand than my older, smaller monitor, freeing up a good bit of desk space. I havent seen any of the mentioned issues, using an Nvidia GPU. I did have an issue where half the screen was solid black when I first turned it on. Turns out, this was an Nvidia issue, and a simple driver update fixed it.

I am disappointed in this monitor. I have 2 of these monitors paired with two of the ASUS VN279s. There is no such thing as pure white with these monitors. there seems to be a positional color temperature gradient that depends on my point of view. The top of the monitor has more of a warm color, the bottom is cooler. If someone walks up to your desk to see something, their view looking down at the monitor will make it appear soaked in cyan. also, the icons at the bottom of the screen are tinted blue. It’s very off putting to have these very mismatched color temps. Especially when my eyes are spaced and have a slightly different POV. I have played with the settings quite a bit, but since the problem relates to POV, all settings are just for a single POV and maybe 5 to 10 degrees up or down... lastly, light output is pretty low, I can never quite match my VN279s. There is quite a bit that they do right...
