> 3 dayI bought this monitor specifically for my Xbox One X. I used to have a Benq monitor but crossed over to the ASUS and I’m pleased with it. The picture quality in my opinion is about an 8/10 ( I’m basing this off of playing COD WWII and random 4K YouTube videos . 1ms response time on a 4K gaming monitor is pretty amazing too. I’ve noticed better results in my gaming . If you’re ever playing an FPS game and you know you have the skill set to perform well and a good internet connection but people are still getting the jump on you then this will definitely remedy those issues . The only issue I’m having is that free-sync is grayed out and is not even able to be used . I feel if a product is marketing this as an option you should be able to use it. I also wish I would have kicked in the extra money to get the more adjustable version . I feel the monitor sits kind of low . It’s a good monitor and I would recommend if you’re on the fence

> 3 dayNote: I am receiving a Warranty Extension from ASUS for this review. This monitor is exactly what I hoped for from a Resolution standpoint. Adding it to my 5K iMac provides a significant improvement over my previous cheap monitor. The price was right and the capabilities for changing to meet my needs are easy. The only drawback is that it will NOT come out of sleep when my iMac wakes up. I have to turn it off and then turn it back on in order for it to receive a signal.

Greater than one weekI love Acer monitors and I will gladly buy another Acer product in the future. Even so, the minute I plugged this monitor in I got a bad feeling. Out of the box the colors were very washed out, like Easter egg pastels against medium gray (what should be black.) I adjusted all the settings. Then I finally found out the monitor has a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Thats great for a 2014 era monitor, but not nearly good enough for modern software development or movie viewing. Entire sections of my development website are almost unviewable. Also as others have noted, the viewing angle makes it impossible to see one color across the whole screen. Black has a gradient into muddy dark green wherever I tilt my head. I want to be clear that I love Acer and their monitors. Ive been happily using an Acer S236HL for years and it has worked flawlessly. The contrast of that 5yr old monitor is immensely superior to this. The VP28UQG is also well built, no dead pixels, crisp. Bright. The build quality is fine. But IMO its unusable. Just wanted to spare any other coders who might be rushing to pick up a 4K monitor for remote work.

> 3 dayI saw some negative reviews and was hesitant on this monitor, but I was reassured when I found an old post on proper calibration. This monitor is amazing for the price. The only downfall is that it maxes out at 60hz, so its not ideal for competitive gaming. Single-player games look amazing at 4k, and 60hz is fine because you wont be getting much more than 60 fps with such high settings. If you want a monitor for single-player games or have a console, then honestly, this is the best bang for your buck.

> 3 dayThis is a great monitor, dont get discouraged by the negative reviews! I encountered a lot of the problems mentioned in the negative reviews but got this thing running finely tuned with no flickering or image issues. ASUS gives you a lot of adjustments and settings on the OSD with the ability to save four profiles but none of the presets are that great out of the box and require some additional tweaking for the best picture. ASUS should have this more fine tuned when it leaves the factory for better plug and play compatibility...take note ASUS! The hardware you connect this to also makes a big difference, heres how my journey has gone since purchasing: I bought this (April 2020) to be a primary monitor that ran off a slightly older MSI gaming laptop with a nVidia GT 765M 2GB connected using the display port cable. This is where I encountered most of my problems with flickering and instability as the GT 765M was not able to handle the 3840 x 2160 resolution even with the laptop screen turned off. I gained the stability by turning the resolution down to 1920 x 1080 and by using the nVidia Recommended settings in the nVidia Control Panel. I found that tinkering with too many of these settings also resulted in flickering and blackouts. Not satisfied with this arrangement I recently decided to sell the MSI laptop and build a new micro atx tower (loved the laptop but always have been more a desktop fan because you have more upgrade options). My new tower has a Intel 10th Gen Core i3 chip with the built-in UHD Graphics 630 which has plenty of power to run this monitor at the full 3840 x 2160 resolution. UHD videos on Netflix and Disney+ look amazing and run smoothly. At the end of the day though its really dependent on the video or picture source, this also has a huge impact on the final quality (check out some of the 4K and 8K videos on YouTube while your adjusting and fine tuning the settings on the monitor). Colors look great and pop and the off viewing angles are great as well. After being on the two aforementioned systems, here are the monitor settings that I currently use: GameMode Blue Light Filter - Level 0 Brightness - 75 Contrast - 75 Saturation - 55 Color Temp - User Mode R-95 G-100 B-100 Skin Tone - Natural Smart View - OFF Sharpness - 50 (Already a high res monitor, too much decreases image quality) Trace Free - 60 (Already a high res monitor, too much decreases image quality) VividPixel - 25 (Already a high res monitor, too much decreases image quality) ASCR - ON Adaptive Sync/FreeSync - OFF (Graphics card on order, will update after install) GamePlus - OFF These are a good starting point for your initial setup (be sure to save your profile in one of the four available) or if your struggling to find a good combination. Obviously your system and personal tastes will vary and additional tweaking may be required. Cons: - The included stand has limited adjustment, it can only tilt the screen. Im assuming ASUS did this keep the cost low and most gamers will just mount on an arm anyways...I did and love it! - No USB connectors which I personally find convenient (bought a 4 port USB 3.0 hub for my desk) - Brightness could be better but most gamers probably wont mind, typically playing in darker environments. Hope this helps! (Updated 8/28/2020)

> 3 day**09/01/2020 Edit** I switched my monitor from my Xbox to PC and the flickering continued during high graphic processing or when switching to graphics with high blacks or greys. Not often, but enough to distract. The picture is clear as day, colors are great, even for photo editing with minor setting adjustments. However, if you plan on gaming on Xbox OR PC, or if you get easily annoyed by a flicker during graphic/video work, you should probably look for another monitor until they fix the issue. Adjusting to 3 stars. Original 4 star review: 4.5/5 for picture and overall build quality 2.5/5 for console gaming 5/5 for daily computer use 3.5/5 for price 5/5 for packing and shipping Overall, this is a good 4k monitor display and I love using it for my PC. However, I originally bought this monitor for my Xbox One X (for 4K HDR) (also used it on my Xbox One S with the upscale 4K option), and I encountered a random flicker during gaming. I tried adjusting the display bit settings (TV & Display Options > Advanced > Video Fidelity & Overscan > Color Depth), which reduced the flicker significantly but not entirely. The random flicker was still there at least once per game, which can be frustrating in mid-battle situations. One thing I noticed when I looked through all of the display settings was that 4K UHD/HDR was not active and not able to be selected as an option with this monitor, which was very disappointing. The picture quality is VERY crisp, and the response time is fantastic, but for a $300 investment, Id recommend buying a different monitor for console gaming considering this Asus flickers (which other reviewers have noted) and also lacks HDR. You can also see a minimal, (insignificant, to me) light leak on the right side of my monitor. This is monitor-specific, so some might have it while others dont. Additional thoughts: I included a picture of the menu button, which took some getting used to, but I actually prefer/enjoy adjusting the settings with it now (compared to my other monitors, a different Asus and a BenQ). The monitor does not have speakers, but it does have a 3.5mm output. The monitor is lightweight, VESA mount compatible, and the frame/bevel is minimal and sleek. My monitor arrived well-packed, and came with additional HDMI cables, which is always appreciated.

> 3 dayIt’s a nice 4K monitor that isn’t excessively expensive. The brightness will seem low for many games and I find myself playing at 100% brightness, which is perfect, but it’s concerning to be at 100% for it. The picture quality and refresh rate are fine. The 4K resolution is worth it, I usually need 2 windows open while working and it displays them well. I usually lower the brightness to 80% when reading on the screen. The joystick button is very nice and responsive, navigating menus is very easy. The display light is nice. The stand is decent and it does allow the screen to tilt, but you can’t raise or lower the screen. The tilt is enough for me. The base is of good quality. There are no speakers, but I find a nice little sound bar that fits under it well.

20-11-2024Great great great value. Takes a bit to find the right settings but being able to save presets is a plus. Brightness is a little jarring but overall well worth it. Using with PS5.

17-11-2024First monitor I got was damaged (deal pixels, washed out coloring) and I think from the reviews that there may be an issue with quality control or the shipping company. The replacement I got however is great, the picture quality is good although I haven’t played any games on it yet. I have seen other reviewers (on Mac) have said that the resolution was off, I think this is an indicator that the product is damaged. My replacement monitor looks great, was detected automatically and has the standard resolution scaling I expect on a Mac. (see image) For a budget monitor this is a good deal, if it wasn’t for the first one being broke I would be very happy. *First time I have had a damaged product that I had to replace, Amazon’s return process is great. I wasn’t hassled and I really appreciate just being able to take the broken monitor to the UPS store and show them my QR code.*
