Greater than one weekI have a typical ceiling fan in my 13’x15’ ft bedroom, fan set to about medium, pulling upwards for winter circulation. Fan is in opposite corner of where I sit and vape and read and write on this thing, and within like 5 seconds of exhaling a cloud of vapor the fan on the air cleaner ramps up, gets rather loud honestly, though I don’t mind it. It very clearly lets me know it’s working and how sensitive whatever pollution sensor is inside it is. So far, I’m quite happy with it and from what I can tell so far as to the condition that the filter is in, that it’s doing a heck of a job too… we’ll see if it lasts 6 months. ;)

Greater than one weekI like the simplicity and the style. But I don’t like the sound of the fan. It sounds unbalanced. It makes a slight ticking noise like a fan blade is hitting the case, or maybe something wrong with the bearings. This noise is constant, despite the fan speed. From the very first day of using it, I thought that noise was partly because it was brand new and would need time to break in. The noise has never gone away. I regret not contacting the company when I noticed it. If it didn’t have the clicking noise, it would be I impressively quiet. Maybe they’ve improved over the years. I recommend to contact the company if you hear the noise similar to an unbalanced fan. I also have a smaller one from the same company, and it also has a similar noise. But much softer. It’s a smaller model. You only really notice it on speed 2 or 3. If you’re okay with a little noise, I recommend using in the living room rather than a bedroom.

> 3 dayIm very ill and struggle with breathing sometimes. I have trouble cleaning my room due to my illnesses and I suspected the unclean environment wasnt doing me any favors either. I noticed that it was getting difficult to breathe specially when I was laying down. I would often wake up gasping for air. Ive had this air purifier over a week now and my breathing inside my room has improved greatly. If I have the filter at medium or full blast, Im not stuffy at all either. Im noticing Im not waking up gasping for air now. I cant believe the air my room was causing me so many issues. In fact, if I spend some time elsewhere in the house, my nose becomes stuffy again because my family doesnt use a purifier there. I have my purifier on all the time now. It has made some weird crackling noises only twice since I bought it. Its infrequent, though unsure what causes that. The auto setting is very quiet if filter detects the air is in good condition. Im able to sleep without issues while its on. If Im moving around my room, I set it to medium because I dont need it to be so quiet. I went with this brand because of how quiet it claimed to be compared to others available, the auto setting, and washable filter on the outside. It was a terrific investment for me and I only wish I had it since years ago. I never knew a device like this could really help me out with my health.

> 3 dayOn my sisters recommendation we ordered one for our bedroom. My wife is very sensitive to odors and allergens, and, unfortunately, Very sensitive to noise. This unit is so quiet in the auto mode that we just leave it like that. It is right next to the bed and it does not disturb her AT ALL. There is a jetted tub at the other end of the room that she uses a lot. She usually adds a few drops of pure lavender oil. The indicator light very quickly turns red so you know it is detecting stuff in the air. Lol. When the bath is over and drained it doesnt take long for it to indicate a clean blue again. So we believe it is working as intended.

> 3 dayPurchased this air filter to install in a child’s bedroom. The low sound level and compact size make it great for smaller rooms. Pros: - It’s A very quiet air filter even with the fan on full speed. - The Gray cover is great at hiding the dust that builds up between washings as the air filter is used. - It looks good in the room and is not an eye sore. - Auto Setting is a convenient way to run the air filter. As it senses changes in the air quality the fan will increase circulation and air filtration. - LED indicator will change as the sensors pick up changes in air quality. Cons: - The Gray cover goes directly over the filter membrane. There is no plastic sub structure. That means if it’s in a child’s room and child knocks something into it, it could dent or damage the filter itself resulting in the need for a replacement. - Without constantly referring to the manual it’s difficult to know what setting it’s on. This can be rather problematic if a child continues to cycle through the settings. Would I recommend it to a friend: Yes

09-06-2025These air purifiers work great. I live in a 560 sq/ft apartment with 1 cat. Ironically my cat has worse allergies than I do. I got 2 of the 311 autos, one for the bedroom and one for the living area. Since I started using them my cats snoring and sneezing has been much better. Allergens don’t bother me too much but I can also tell a difference in the air quality. I have noticed a big difference in the amount of dust in the house. The dust from cat litter is a big contributor and the purifier closest to the litter box will automatically turn the fan speed up after the cat has been scratching around in there. At first I thought the auto version wasn’t really necessary because I could just turn it up manually when I was cooking or something but the auto function really is nice to have. It reminds me of a canary in a mine shaft and will alert you to things in the air that you can’t see or smell. Overall I think these work well and are especially necessary if you have pets.

> 3 dayThe unit blueair 311 seems to be working well. However I had to contact the Blueair customer support because getting pre-filter replacements is next to impossible. I was told things that were not true by their customer service representative. Told the blue 311 and 311 auto are the exact same size and so are the filters. That is NOT the case. Trying to get exact information was a game of half answers. I am not sure if these models are being discontinued in favor of the newer hi tec ones but trying to find filters and covers is nearly impossible. (They are the first step in the filtration process) I could not find them available even on the Blueair page. Representative said they were out of stock to try again in 2 weeks how do you not carry these for your customers? No covers for either model? I am now concerned about my purchase from them.
