> 3 dayAfter owning a large, classic Blueair unit for over 15 years, we finally retired it in favor of these smaller models. Our first purchase was a 411+ for the bedroom. We love everything about it. It works like a charm for dust, pet odors, and even pet hair. The unit is easy to move when needed and the filters are easy to change. Our only complaint with the 411+ is the pre-filter. It is a thin, nylon material that snags easily, and were not wild about the loud colors. However, replacement pre-filters are inexpensive. We were so impressed with the 411+ that we ordered a 311 Auto for the living room. We expected that it would be a larger version of the 411. It isnt. The two models look similar but are designed very differently. It works equally well, and the pre-filter is sturdier and more attractive, but thats where the advantages stop. The 411 has a hard-sided canister that the filter slips inside. This is what makes it easy to handle and move. The 311 does NOT have an outside canister. A loose, pleated filter that makes up the exterior of the bottom half of the unit. These filters are harder to install. Also, to remove or replace the washable pre-filter, you have to handle the dusty main filter quite a lot. The exterior filter design also makes the unit more fragile; filters can get smashed if the unit is bumped into or knocked over. Its tricky to get the pre-filter to fit just right without mashing the main filter, and one of our cats is determined to sharpen claws on the soft exterior of the unit. (He ignores the 411.) Because the 311 Auto is more fragile and less manageable than the 411+, Ive given it 4 stars. The 411+ is a 5-star unit, and if I had it to do over again I might place two of those at opposite ends of the living room, instead of using the larger unit.

> 3 dayI bought this unit for my bedroom. I have a 2700 square foot home, large rooms and high ceilings. Room ratings are never large enough on purifiers, unless you have enough money to burn. My bedroom is roughly 225sq ft and I also have a large attached bath and walk-in closet... this unit works beautifully. The air was noticeably cleaner in minutes. On night mode...I live in a rural area, so there is no ambient sound to obscure it. Even sitting on my nightstand next to my head, I still cant hear it. Amazingly quiet mode. Ive gone through other purifiers that were less expensive than this one, but I can tell already this is much better quality. I wanted to give this a test run with the smaller unit before investing in the large one...I decided to purchase the larger unit for the main living area. This is a great unit. I will try to update after a few months of use, after having to replace the filter media, etc.

> 3 dayWe live in a small apartment and take it room to room. For example, we use it when were cooking or cleaning to clean up any smells. The biggest change is that it helps get rid of the corn chip dog smell in the bedroom. My husband loves it for his allergies. Great product

Greater than one weekI’m really delighted with my BLUEAIR Blue 311 unit. I went into the purchase expecting false advertising and was very happily proven wrong day 1. I’ve had it over a month now, just enough time to get to know it. When I light up in the house at night it turns up it’s intake, and the little light changes from blue to orange. That’s fantastic but even more impressive is that it somehow detects when my cat goes in the cat box and up it cranks. It has a bit louder sound in super clean mode, but it’s not very noticeable. I remember the first time I noticed it had cranked up and said to my hubby, that’s the air filter? I thought maybe he left the faucet on. Very quiet. Allergy season has been slow to bother me this year, eliminating my need for antihistamine despite the fact that my car has a green coating from our neighbor’s pine tree. It’s not a small unit, about 2 feet tall by 1 foot round, you need space for it. I didn’t mind, odors bother me more, I made the space for it. If you want an excellent air filtration unit you will love this one.

> 3 dayI like the simplicity and the style. But I don’t like the sound of the fan. It sounds unbalanced. It makes a slight ticking noise like a fan blade is hitting the case, or maybe something wrong with the bearings. This noise is constant, despite the fan speed. From the very first day of using it, I thought that noise was partly because it was brand new and would need time to break in. The noise has never gone away. I regret not contacting the company when I noticed it. If it didn’t have the clicking noise, it would be I impressively quiet. Maybe they’ve improved over the years. I recommend to contact the company if you hear the noise similar to an unbalanced fan. I also have a smaller one from the same company, and it also has a similar noise. But much softer. It’s a smaller model. You only really notice it on speed 2 or 3. If you’re okay with a little noise, I recommend using in the living room rather than a bedroom.

> 3 dayIt’s an ok product but after using it for a few weeks I’m not sure it’s doing much good. I have it in my man cave to remove allergens from the air. I think it gets most. I have a 700 square foot area and I think I should have bought a larger model. I like that if it detects stuff in the air, it increases air flow on its own and then slows as it gets it captured. It is quiet and not detectable unless it kicks in high mode.
