> 24 hourIn order for this 3800mah battery to properly fit the UV5RA a slight modification is necessary. Many videos say something about grinding inside the battery. Was not the case for me. A hot knife needed to cut the crescent shaped scallop off face of ext battery and it will now click perfectly into place on the UV5RA.

> 24 hourThis is a good product. In the event of a loss of electrical power for an extended time it is very good to be able to power up the Baofeng UV-5R Handi Talkie with alkaline AA batteries which are available everywhere. I had a problem with all (3) that I ordered. The problem was easily corrected. If you open the battery holder up and look down at the half that actually has the battery contacts where the batteries fit, the row on the right side of the holder has a place for two batteries. The bottom battery fits with the negative side at the bottom of the tray. There is a metal contact pin that was flat on all (3) battery holders and would not make contact with the negative side of the battery. The fix is to take a small flat blade control screwdriver and get behind the contact pin and gently pry it away from the metal band that it is attached to. This way it makes contact with the battery.

> 24 hourI have ordered, received, programmed, and used four BaoFeng radios and accessories from BTech and thrilled by the performance of the radios and the service when I have a question directed to BTECH. I received one radio that sent and received perfectly but the red transmit light was not functioning. BTech got me an RA number immediately to return for repair or replacement. I mailed it in to be received by them Monday. On that very Monday I received a notice that the repair or replaced radio was in the mail back to me. I call that exceptional service. They really stand by there product.

> 24 hourNothing else. This works with copies of the UV-5R like the Tidradio GM-5R. It’s a great battery. I just thought it’d be a two-pack for the price.

> 24 hourI got this as a Birthday present from a wish list of Ham radio equipment. The first thing about this battery is you dont need a base charger to add juice to the battery. You just need the power adapter sold separately great for traveling or hiking with a roll out solar panel sold separately. The traditional way to get this battery up to full capacity is to fully charge it on the base recommended to charge without it being attached to the Radio. Once charged attach to radioand turn on and press an hold number 0 and the voltage should be 8.3 - 8.4v. Use the radio to bring the battery down to about 7.4v and do a full charge cycle about 5 times and the battery will last longer and have a great shelf life. My original battery lasted for 5 years using the recommended charge/discharge mentioned above. Also its light and not bulky perfect fit for inside jacket pockets.

> 24 hourI like this battery for two reasons: First, it increases the overall length of the UV-5R, thus making the radio feel a bit more substantial and offering a better feel in the hand. The 5R is quite tiny, after all, and this battery pack offers a superior grip for an adult male with big paws. Secondly, I like that it offers a second option for charging; in addition to the standard charging cradle connectors this unit also offers direct USB charging with a dedicated cable, meaning it can be charged from the USB power in a car (where it would be downright clumsy to try and use the charging cradle) or from a cell phone charger while traveling. I end up using a standard iPhone charger without having to bring along the normal cradle.
