> 3 dayThe battery appears to be well made with a sturdy case. Cant beat the price for a L-Ion battery. When I tried to install the battery, it wouldnt slide all the way into the radio. It was blocked by a protrusion on the front of the radio case where the UV-5RA badge is located. A few minutes with a file to remove some plastic on the front of the battery and it fit fine. Strange that a battery from BaoFeng didnt fit right on a BaoFeng radio but Hams adapt.

> 3 dayFirst, it works as expected in that it replaces your battery (it is a battery eliminator not a charger) and powers your radio from a 12 volt accessory socket. A couple poor design features to be aware of though: The cord is a coiled cord, but the coils are very stiff. At rest it is about 2 feet long, but if you try to stretch it out, by the time you get to three feet it is pulling out of the car socket. I would say that for most people, they would have a lot of trouble talking on the radio with that limitation combined with the fact that at that length you are playing tug of war if it stays plugged in. Also the cord comes out of the bottom of the battery adapter, which means you cannot stand your radio up. Not a concern for car use but in emergency use where you might have to be on 12 volt power indoors, you cannot stand up your radio. This means your antenna is operating at well below maximum efficiency. It seems that just a little forethought and beta testing of this product would have made it a MUCH better product with little or no change to cost.

> 3 dayThis is a great backup that uses AA type alkaline batteries for powering your radio. As a ham that never knows what situation I might be facing for an emergency, this is very useful. I, and most people have a cache of AA batteries that I keep all of the time. This means if I drain my rechargeable batteries, this can be deployed with some fresh AA batteries to keep me on the air.

22-11-2024Works perfect. Still had to glue the contacts in place on the one I got, def recommended anyone who gets this, to do that. Adds good weight to the radio. Used it on scan for an entire day and batteries hardly lost any charge.

> 3 dayThis is a good product. In the event of a loss of electrical power for an extended time it is very good to be able to power up the Baofeng UV-5R Handi Talkie with alkaline AA batteries which are available everywhere. I had a problem with all (3) that I ordered. The problem was easily corrected. If you open the battery holder up and look down at the half that actually has the battery contacts where the batteries fit, the row on the right side of the holder has a place for two batteries. The bottom battery fits with the negative side at the bottom of the tray. There is a metal contact pin that was flat on all (3) battery holders and would not make contact with the negative side of the battery. The fix is to take a small flat blade control screwdriver and get behind the contact pin and gently pry it away from the metal band that it is attached to. This way it makes contact with the battery.

> 3 dayI love the added length this gives the radio, makes it holdable for people with big hands! The added battery life is a bonus too. It will charge in the standard table top docks but be aware if you want to use the built in charging port on the battery, you will need the smaller 2.5mm plug, it does not use the same power connector as the desk top charger.
