as the complaints in reviews mostly revolved around 1) does not hold pressure and... 2) poor customer service. I got the unit, plugged it in, got to 120 psi, stopped, unplugged 1) 2 hrs later lost about 30 psi 2) called customer service, got the biggest run around I ever experienced, it was borderline comical. could not get the simplest questions answered. What is acceptable amount of air loss over 2 hrs, 24hrs, etc. Asked 5x in email, they refuse to answer. I guess Amazon reviews are true. Its too bad the company does not step up QC and act normal during customer service inquiries as its USA company and seems to be a decent compressor. I always try to support small USA companies, but with attitude like that, well.... I either gotta fix this one, or salvage the box and send it back. I hate buying something brand new and having to fix it... this is simple to detect in QC....

Loved that the machine is so light weight & quit. I run it with a 3500 quite inverter Predetor Generator. Its even quieter than that. Couldnt believe it ,the 1st time I ran it. Highly Recommend for all uses. I use mine for Moblie Detailing

in all my years, ive never known a small shop compressor to be this quite. i turned it on for the first time and was convinced it was broken. the wife came out to the shop, seeing my quizzical look and offered to start the amazom return process. i give it a few minutes to complete the initial fill, confirmed the gauge readings and then tested a few tools. works as any compressor should work. took an outside paint-sprayer pressure gauge to compare/confirm the attached compressors gauge - off my 3 psi (line loss maybe). again, the compressor works as stated the amazing quality of this compressor is that you can use it with blowing out an ear drum during initial fill and subsequent refills under usage. always use hearing protection while operating the end tool - no need to be that guy. as long as it holds up over the years, it will be an excellent choice. not to mention, in the dozen times ive drained it after use, no rust in the d/c moisture. in FL thats rare. the AL tank is great.

Man, this thing is quiet. Obviously, not for extended air tool use (maybe a brad nailer), but super handy for tires, quick use of an air blower etc. it’s also really light and I’ll say it again, really quiet. For light-duty use, it’s ideal. I just moved and haven’t wired up my big compressor yet. Since I’ve converted most of my air tools to battery now, I’m in no hurry. The CAT is a great “go-between”. And it’s really quiet!

I just purchased a new decibel meter from Amazon to test some of my power equipment noise levels. When I got my new California air compressor I was anxious to see how close to the 60 decibels it actually was. Well upon first running the compressor I noticed lots of rattling noise coming from it, and when I used the meter is was registering it at around 84 decibels from about 8 ft away - this is where i placed it in my work shop. Bottom line it is not anywhere near 60 decibels. ( I wish it was) But you still need hearing protection when it it running.

Wow! Thats the only word for how impressed I am by this compressor. Super quiet, fills up fast and recovers even faster. Very lightweight too, the aluminum tank is well worth the small increase in price. The only thing to consider with the aluminum tank is it is a tiny bit top heavy. Not unstable at all but just be aware and youll have no problems. Unlike some other reviews, mine arrived perfect. The box wasnt damaged at all, I may have got lucky as I got it in one day. Maybe there wasnt a chance for it to be knocked around in shipping. Bottom line, if your in the market for a compressor this size... get this one.

I am a forty year veteran of small 6-8 gallon air compressors. My first small horizontal 6 gallon air compressor lasted 25 years. My second 6 gallon pancake air compressor lasted 10 years. My use rate is of an ordinary homeowner that uses his air compressor intermittently for blowing off riding lawn mower, adding air to tires, occasionally using pneumatic tools, etc. So what do I think of the California tools air compressor? The first thing I look at on any air compressor are the welds. On my unit the welds show no imperfections. The second thing I look for is air leaks. My compressor holds air well and shows no indication of air leaks. The air compressor fills quickly and is the quietest unit I have ever owned. One word of caution. Do not, I repeat do not use an extension cord of any size and length to power this compressor. The ari compressor has a tag right on the power cord stating not use an extention cord but I did not notice it. The extension cord caused the air compressor to overheat. It took approximately 30 minutes for the compressor to cool enough to restart. My oversight appears not to have caused any permanent damage. if you need to reach farther distances buy a longer air hose. All in all I am very pleased with my purchase. How many years will this unit last? Who knows but I am looking forward to using this air compressor for years to come.

Don’t believe any reviews to the contrary, this is as quiet, or quieter, than advertised. I needed something I could run in the house without damaging my children’s hearing and this fits the bill. It’s orders of magnitude quieter than the 6 gallon porter cable I used to use. The only down sides are the aluminum tank, while lighter than the steel porter cable, is not as light as hoped. Also, the handle for pulling it on the wheels is to short to be almost useless for someone who is 5’10” tall. Also, they say it’s made in San Diego California, but the box says made in China. Not good.

After a long search for a quiet air compressor, I finally found a winner. I took it to the lake to blow up some inflatables and I was pleasantly surprised by the low noise level of the air compressor. Its lightweight and fits perfectly in my RVs lower storage compartment.

Havent used it on a a job yet , however it is very quiet and easy to move / pick up . Its half the weight of my old compressor with slightly greater capacity . I will review again after I have some run time with it .
