I got this to blow out my sprinklers and was not worried as much about the noise as I wanted the aluminum frame so it would be light enough to maneuver. It worked great in that regards but I was amazed at how quiet this thing really was. I could run it in the house with some air tools if I needed without losing my hearing. Absolutely amazing compared to what I have used before.

So if your buying this for a air brush this review will help out,, I went from a harbor freight oil less air compressor to this California air compressor. My harbor freight air compressor ran all the time and was very noisy. This air compress isnt silent but its allot less noisy then my H/F compressor and the bonus is once it reaches 100 psi it shuts off and that is allot of air brush time before it calls for air again. its a 8 gal air tank. One thing this compressor is missing is a water trap I installed one and glad I did because even though there is a water bleed valve on the bottom it still puts a little water in the air its sending to the air brush so install a water trap. Also I wish it would have had fitting for a air brush it doesnt come with any and that is a task of getting the right fitting to make it adapt to a air brush. The front rubber foot needs to be improved to a better design. also I am pretty sure it can be made quieter by installing a better front foot on the compressor. Its definitely worth the money, but you can tell its china made, the off and on switch seems very cheap. Over all I am happy with the purchase. I personally dont think it could run air tools for like a mechanic. This is perfect for air brushing. I bought the aluminum tank and seems of good quality. probably the cheapest air compressor you can buy with a large air storage tank you can buy for air brushing.

as the complaints in reviews mostly revolved around 1) does not hold pressure and... 2) poor customer service. I got the unit, plugged it in, got to 120 psi, stopped, unplugged 1) 2 hrs later lost about 30 psi 2) called customer service, got the biggest run around I ever experienced, it was borderline comical. could not get the simplest questions answered. What is acceptable amount of air loss over 2 hrs, 24hrs, etc. Asked 5x in email, they refuse to answer. I guess Amazon reviews are true. Its too bad the company does not step up QC and act normal during customer service inquiries as its USA company and seems to be a decent compressor. I always try to support small USA companies, but with attitude like that, well.... I either gotta fix this one, or salvage the box and send it back. I hate buying something brand new and having to fix it... this is simple to detect in QC....

I bought this compressor to engrave with a GRS GraverMax G8 (compressor on their website is $400+)*half the price, same specs*. Works great, holds psi, no leaks, not loud. The only thing was a small retainer of some type was broken by the air filter so I wasn’t able to hook up one hose. Didn’t affect the performance. Recommend a dryer of some sort as any air compressor will have some moisture.

Replaced my pancake compressor. That thing was so loud. Unpacked it in the living room and turned it on. Wife was asleep in the room above. It never woke her up, I give it two thumbs up.

Light, easy to move, above all else quiet. My old ones would rattle your brain they were so loud. I fired this up in my living room and could talk to my wife while it was running. Amazing! Only downside is I think it needs to be more stable. I think I can easily fix that by bolting on a long bar to be wider base.

My wife and I are renovating a mid-1960s house, ultimately planning to live here full-time. My 27gal compressor back home was sorta-portable (wheels & stood vertically) but not easily transportable between the two houses. While researching for a small, quiet compressor for the reno my original compressor violently self-destructed. (:- Portability became much more important. The 8010 is small enough and light enough to strong-arm into a car trunk. Tank capacity is completely adequate for my needs (air gun, light sandblasting, minor cut-off work.) At this level its ideal. BUT--I also needed a relatively-quiet unit. My original was not, and as my wife has offices at both locations Im particularly careful about how much noise I generate. This California Air Tools compressor is billed as ultra-quiet, and thats an excellent description. This is easily the quietest compressor Ive every used, and that includes the little carry-along tire compressors one carries in a car trunk. I have a cousin who has a home-shop in which she makes things for her business. I learned they needed a compressor for some airbrushing they need to do. As noise in her shop is also a big consideration, I was able to recommend this compressor without reservation. Id buy it again, for sure. And yes, I did buy it. I have never accepted compensation for anything I review.

What a nice piece of gear. Super quiet, kicks ass, very light, good quality. Highly recommended.

I really like the noise level; its just perfectly quiet just like they said. It doesnt take too long to fill the tank and its very compact and easily portable. It does build up a lot of heat while running but not to the point of being extreme. The instructions were fairly good. The unit I received had one issue that for me, was easier to fix than return. The pressure regulator was not screwed on tightly and had a very slow leak. I had to take the cap off the regulator remove the engine wires and the air supply line so I could remove the regulator. I put some Teflon pipe tape on the big pipe and replaced all the reverse order. It wasnt a big job but you need some mechanical aptitude and some tools to accomplish. I would have given it a 5 star if not for the regulator issue. If you are not mechanically inclined, send it back for a replacement.

This compressor is so quiet that it could be a medical unit. It takes as long to reach pressure as my old ten gallon, which seems weird because its so small. This isnt a complaint... I love it. I will put a different handle on it, tho. Maybe taller wheels, too.
