> 3 dayI can be on the phone next to this thing and you hardly even know its running. I would definitely spring for the aluminum one because its so light! makes moving it from workplace to workplace a breeze.

> 3 dayI am a forty year veteran of small 6-8 gallon air compressors. My first small horizontal 6 gallon air compressor lasted 25 years. My second 6 gallon pancake air compressor lasted 10 years. My use rate is of an ordinary homeowner that uses his air compressor intermittently for blowing off riding lawn mower, adding air to tires, occasionally using pneumatic tools, etc. So what do I think of the California tools air compressor? The first thing I look at on any air compressor are the welds. On my unit the welds show no imperfections. The second thing I look for is air leaks. My compressor holds air well and shows no indication of air leaks. The air compressor fills quickly and is the quietest unit I have ever owned. One word of caution. Do not, I repeat do not use an extension cord of any size and length to power this compressor. The ari compressor has a tag right on the power cord stating not use an extention cord but I did not notice it. The extension cord caused the air compressor to overheat. It took approximately 30 minutes for the compressor to cool enough to restart. My oversight appears not to have caused any permanent damage. if you need to reach farther distances buy a longer air hose. All in all I am very pleased with my purchase. How many years will this unit last? Who knows but I am looking forward to using this air compressor for years to come.

> 3 dayI used one of these at the track and liked it so much I bought my own. Very small footprint, amazingly quiet and the pressure is terrific for setting the bead on tires. Great deal.

Greater than one weekThe compressor works well. Gets up to pressure quickly. I did measure the decibels from ten feet and I got 67-68 db on my phone decibel meter. So certainly not 60 db But definitely quieter than the standard compressors. Mine did not say to not use an extension cord. Though others have commented on this. So be cognizant of this. I use mine in one location right next to the main power outlet.

Greater than one weekBeen wanting a quiet compressor for years. My old one was annoying to say the least. This one is quiet and holds air the best of any compressor I’ve owned. It small but for my needs quite adequate. Paid a little extra for the aluminum version. No regrets.

> 3 dayWith out any question this is the quietest compressor I have ever had. This thing fills quickly and is very pleasant to work around. Sounds like a sewing machine. Really nice.

Greater than one weekReplaced a same-size/psi compressor that cost half as much but was so much louder I could stand to use it with my garage door closed (or without hearing protection). This one is sooo quiet that you really can stand right next to it and have a conversation at normal speaking volume. SAVE YOUR EARS!

> 3 dayVery quiet! Capable of 1/2 impact tools used in moderation such as tire changes. No issues so far, but only used a few times.

> 3 dayWorks well for filling tires and blowing away air. Dont expect to run any air tools with this. The tank is much too small.

Greater than one weekIm running a home metal working hobby shop in the basement, and have been agonizing over putting an air compressor down there for power drawbars and blowing off parts. I heard about the California Air Tools compressors, so thought Id give it a shot. One word describes this compressor - AMAZING. Quiet enough it is not noticeable in the shop, and it isnt heard upstairs. Now, just hoping it holds up over time.
