Greater than one weekI recommend one of two things. one, get one of these at least once every six months to prevent clogged water lines or get a plug to plug the drain on your hot water heater. beware though if you simply get a plug, you could ruin your hot water tank with constant bad water. this rod works hard at protecting your hot water tank, but you should check it at least once every three months to ensure that it is not breaking down in your system. i like them and will continue to use the rods, not plugs.

> 3 dayHard to say much about an anode, heck, it is an anode. This fits and is the recommended model for my SW10DE. I must be lucky with water sources and I can go as long as 4 years with only about a 50% deterioration rate. When they do get to about 50% I replace the anode. I keep two spares as you never know when you or a buddy or neighbor will need one. There is no O-ring for these. I use sealant paste or tape, depends on what I have in the tool box that is easy to get to. Just make sure you check your thread diameter. Suburban heaters are 3/4 and the Atwoods tend to be 1/2.

Greater than one weekThis product does what it says it does, protects your water heater from corrosion be attracting contaminants to the tank. Just because your tank is glass lined which many are now, it doesnt mean your tank will not rust through. Is it not better to pay $17 each year or so instead of $400+ for a water heater?

> 3 dayThis product worked great straight out of the package. I previously purchased an anode rod made by suburban for my suburban water heater and I could not get it to thread correctly this one from Camco worked great straight out of the box threaded perfectly.

> 3 dayI have an Atwood 6 gal LP hot water heater. The tank is aluminum and originally Atwood only installed a drain tap rather than an anode. As an industrial maintenance tech I thought installing an anode would be an good measure to increase the life of the hot water heater tank. The anode is doing the job well. The sacrificial metal is doing what is should do. As I drained the hot water tank for winterization Nov 2018, I got a first hand look at the condition of the rod that was installed Feb, 2018. Its doing what it is designed to do, sacrifice itself to protect the tank.

> 3 dayI am new to RVing and did not know about the anode rod until searching through accessories. When I pulled this out of our purchased a used 4 year old RV, I was amazed at how bad of shape the old one was. I understand these should be replaced yearly. I will order another one.
