Supposed to be a drinking water safe hose, but the city water had a terrible chemical odor and taste within 3-4 weeks in the Calif sun if the water has been in the hose for even an hour or so. And thats even with a brand new CAMCO water filter following the hose!! In order to get rid of the taste/odor, had to run the water for several minutes. In my opinion, if you can smell and taste chemicals, I dont believe its safe to drink that water! In the last several years that Ive been using various brands of drinking water hoses, most will last at least 6-12 months before leaving bad chem smell/taste. This one didnt last 4 weeks! Very dissatisfied and returned.

I haven’t used this particular hose yet, I have this same exact hose brand for 5 years now, bought this as a back up. This is the perfect length and is used for my RV… it is sturdy and doesn’t kink up… well worth buying this.

I used this hose to build my winter-camping (cold weather) freshwater supply hose. I followed the RVGEEKS video on how to use heat tape to keep your water supply from freezing up (also see my review of M-D Building Products 64444 30-Foot Pipe Heating Cable for some slight diversions from the RVGEEKS video). The cost of building my own winter hose includes the cost of this Camco hose, the heat tape, foil tape, plus good quality pipe insulation is probably on par with buying an already-built heated hose from Amazon or Camping World. Why did I do it? Because I have read too many bad reviews about the off-the-shelf heated hoses. Many people claim they didnt work and that the valves in the hoses popped off. So Im trying my own build. I saved a little money, and I enjoy these projects anyway. Hopefully my setup will prevent water freeze-ups for the rare times when Im camping in sub-freezing weather.

I have only used this a couple of times but it has worked great so far. I recommend having another length in case you need a longer run and an orange one to use to clean out the sewer lines and accessories as you would not want to use your fresh water hose for that and it would be easy to identify.

I’ve use this brand of hose for hooking up to drinking water while camping. I’ve had good wearability and no problems with them other than aging out after 25 years. I recommend them.

The plastic part seems to be sturdy but its too tough to be able to roll and store it easily.

Few (UPDATES)... Bought both, The HD Valterra 5/8 hose on first impression wins this one... a noticeably better product, all-round, with full flow through fittings match hose ID, my concern. (UPDATE: the brass or alloy male connection end is of a quite soft thin pressed out brass type metal. Caution dragging! I messed up my male end a little already, oops-). The HD Camco hose fitting connections are not full hose diameter. Both appear to be 1/2 ID restrictive fitting, but are machined sturdy and sharp cut threads. Many hose makers use restrictive fittings, and they are not desirable when long hose runs are necessary with multiple connections, at lower fresh water inlet pressures. Both the HD Camco and Valterra ends are attached well, but the machine sharp threads, and loose chrome plating flakes inside the Camco hose were not desirable, IMO. Also, IMO, machined sharp threading into other softer materials tend to cross thread, ie: plastic and other cast fittings. The HD Camco hose material does not feel or appear to match the 20% better claims as listed and on packaging. This Camco HD hose feels thin and the reinforcement appears almost as graphically embossed vs. the visible thread mesh inside the thicker feeling hose material of the Valterra HD hose. Both hoses are very stiff when cold. Camco hose felt like it would crack if forced. (UPDATE: the VT HD hose tends to take a set and kink quite easily in hot summer weather. Valterra HD hose coiling for storage during hot weather gets kinda weird. The HD Camco stiffer material hose may perform better in the summer heat.) Valterra HD hose packaging states a 10 year warranty, and feels like it will make it. The Camco HD hose... a limited 1 year package claim. IMO, the 5-6$ more for the Valterra 25 -5/8 hose is worth it, many of Val. products are. I exchanged my Camco hose for their dual axle wheel twist clamp stabilizer... its simple, light, and handy, but needs to be checked every few days while in use. Happy trails.

Super hose, the ends are really heavy duty, and easy to grip and attach and the tension relief spring is a nice added touch. The hose if very flexible, it didnt seem to have any coil memory even on the first use. I uncoiled it fully, laid it out straight and put some water pressure through it and it laid perfectly flat. I will buy this brand again if I need a longer hose or replacement, but it should last for many years.

Camco"s TastePURE 25-Foot Premium Drinking Water Hose with a 5/8-inch ID is a heavy-duty, reinforced water hose that is 20% thicker than standard hoses. The no-kink design features machined fittings and strain relief ends for added durability. Made of NSF certified FWH hose, this PVC hose does not contain lead, BPA, or phthalate. It is certified to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 for drinking water and delivers water without a plastic taste. Compliant with all federal and state level no-lead laws; CSA content certified to NSF/ANSI 372. Made in the USA.
