Canon MP480 All-in-One Photo Printer

I received the aforementioned and installed it on my computer. The printer works as advertised. The print quality is excellent. Noise level is tolerable but much higher than my old i550. One disadvantage is that the color ink tank is all in one in contrast to the i550 which had seperate ink tanks for each color which will result in higher operating cost to replace the ink tanks. I also had to reposition all my old setups to accomodate the Pixma MP480. If you are looking for a high quality first time photo printer this is one that should be given serious consideration.

I just using it as a scanner. It has the best function Ive never seen before which can scanner a book as one pdf fire and just using one button.

It is very easy to use and gets the job done, however it gets a lot of paper jams and the ink runs out quickly.

I was one of the lucky ones who received this printer for free as part of a student deal at the Apple store where when you buy a laptop, you get a printer and iPod Touch for free. Best freebie ever. This has become one of my favorite printers and its been very reliable for me the past 5 years as an undergrad. Super fast at printing stuff so for someone who sometimes had to rush to get to class, it never failed me. As an artist, it scans and prints my pieces in pretty decent quality especially when printing from Photoshop. Good enough for what I need anyway. Also seems to be pretty conservative with ink since it took half a year with printing tons of stuff each day until I had to replace the ink cartridges. Even when it was on low ink, still was able to print out a couple of densely word packed, 50 page essays without an issue. Love this printer and its been working well with all my operating systems and Ive upgraded them at least 3 times so I have 3 different versions in the whole house and it works well with each of them without any bugs. Even after all these years, I still have it on my desk and hope it lasts me for at least another few when i have to go to grad school. Also we have an Epson and HP printers in the house that belong to my parents and they never were as reliable for me anyway as this one.

I dont use my printer very often, maybe twice a week at most. I expect a printer to last at least 2 years with such limited use, this one made it 15 months. The LCD display screen started fading out and became difficult to read after a year, now there is nothing on the display. At the 15 month mark it starting saying there was a paper jam even though there isnt one. I like the easy set up and never had a problem with the scanner or the print quality. The photo printing was so-so, definitely not a high quality photo printer. I just wish it wouldnt have broken so quickly.

I love my pleanty, much better than HP.

I owned the canon mp240 and it broke but I had a ton of ink left so I decided to get the 480. Ive only used it a handful of times but it works great. I thought for the price, you cant beat it.

The printer does as advertised. I mostly use it to print papers for school. I try my best not to print anything else because the cost of the ink is crazy. The only reason I did not give this printer 5 stars is because it uses ink pretty fast. I got this printer May 2009 and I have not had any issues. I use the printer, copier and scanner. They all work well and it is easy to use. Its pretty self explanatory. I hooked it up with a random usb cord I had on hand. The printer does not come with a cord so if you decide to get the printer, then remember to buy a cord to attach it to your computer. ************************************************** I am updating my review Jan 23 2015. I have had this printer for about 6 years and I am still in school. Now full time instead of part time. I have been using it mostly for scanning documents for class more than printing in the past 2 years. I only find myself printing items to return rental textbooks, or return faulty merchandise, also to print coupons once in awhile. However, if your print head is not recognized then you cannot do anything not even scan with the printer. My copier worked fine with the canon ink and then it started giving an error saying B200 printer error see manual. There is nothing in the manual but I went on Google and none of the resolutions worked for me. The last resolution was to unplug the printer for 24 hours, I did that and now there is an error saying U051 print head is not installed, install print head. The same print heads are in the printer. I opened new ink and put it in the printer and it still did not work. That is $40 worth of new ink that will be thrown in the trash. I am getting an HP printer. I am finished with Canon because this is the second printer that stopped working for weird reasons. I gave the printer 2 stars for lasting 6 years. Also to get the a new print cartridge that cost $125. In other words, I will use that money for a printer instead. I going with HP because the cost of ink is half the price. The Canon MP 480 multifunction printer, copier, scanner is a great machine for the money. Very dependable machine.
