> 3 dayI have several brands of artist quality colored pencils. They each have their own unique features and abilities to lay down color. I first bought the 20 pencil set, then knew I HAD TO HAVE the full 76 set. Love them. They also are the most lightfast of colored pencils, if that matters to you. These Caran d’ Ache Luminance pencils are wonderful if you are interested in a more OPAQUE pencil. There are times in my artwork I prefer an opaque pencil, and times I prefer a more transparent pencil for layering colors. I do love these for their opaqueness and creamy lay down ability.

Greater than one weekBest colored pencils by far and Caran face replaced a defective pencil but make sure you get them from an AUTHORIZED SELLER! Caran Dache warned me of counterfeits - do your research...

08-06-2025Caran Daches products are truly amazing so I was so excited to receive these pencils. The box and packaging they are in is beautiful. They lay down more similarly to a pastel. I thought the colors were beautiful; however for this set being so large, I wish there were more variances. The day I opened my box for the first time, I realized the blenders (you receive two) were unsharpened. As I started sharpening one to try it out with my swatch, it snapped in half. This was truly disappointing. With the knowledge that this was their first set of colored pencils, I also ordered their Pablo 120 piece. For the price of these Luminance pencils, I expected a higher quality. Not something that would snap in half on the 1st day. Im definitely going to return these. If Im going to purchase an expensive quality of pencils, I cant accept something breaking on day one. The Pablos are amazing, so Im going to keep them instead.

> 3 dayThese are great pencils! I gave it 4 stars because of the price and some slightly less smooth pencils. These wax pencils hold their point better than prismas, they have a nice quality feel to them and they are a joy to use. I will say i don’t bother reading the color name on the pencil because it’s so light it’s hard to see plus it will probably rub off easily. If you are the type that relies off of color names as opposed to looking at the color tip this may be off putting to you. The blender sticks don’t work that well which is actually surprising. Id say get the 20 set to try out before getting the big set. Both are an investment but i will be using them down to the nub because they are so expensive they hurt my spirit. Would I repurchase again? Yes, but this is like the treat yourself, I won an award, it’s my birthday purchase.

> 3 dayI was not excited about the price but I was at my wits end with prismacolor and decided to go for it. I’ll never go back! No breakages! No waxy buildup when burnishing Only smooth as butter color

> 3 dayThese lay down with a smooth texture and rich color. I like to layer them over harder pencils (Faber Castell and CD Pablo), just my preferred technique. There’s nothing you can’t do with them. The only drawback is they are very soft, you’ll want one if the harder leads for exceptionally tight detail.
