On the pricey side, I absolutely Love these colored pencils.....Very creamy with amazing blending. Im not a professional, but i will not go back to anything else. I do plan to purchase Faber Castell polycromos to use with the Luminance pencils. Both are spectacular, and the quality is amazing!!! :)

I am a colored pencil junkie lol!!! I am fairly new to them and only started using them in my portraits about 2 to 3 years ago. When I first started with them I was terrible I had to teach myself to use them so if your struggling with this be patient dont give up and practice practice practice!!! I have several brands Prismacolors ,faber-castell and these I love them all but with that said they preform differently. These are pricey so I wouldnt recommend them to start out with unless you are experienced and can afford them. They perform smoothly and with a light touch you can add and blend many many layers without destroying your paper or having the wax bloom effect unlike with prismacolors The colors are richer and brighter a must have for any color pencil artist or enthusiast. This Blue Carb I created with these pencils. I hope this is helpful :)

I thought prismacolors were super smooth, but these pencils go on like butter. They are expensive, and don’t have a huge assortment of colors, but these are the cream of the crop.

Mine arrived in perfect condition and was delivered weeks faster than expected. I was surprised by how light these pencils are to hold even though they are a bit thicker than others Ive used. This definitely makes it easier to do light layers. The blenders are heavier, which makes sense. The colors are gorgeous. Im happy with this purchase.

These blend so well. I use them in mixed media pieces with watercolor. Theyre so pigmented, and you dont have to press hard to get good color. I cant wait to practice more with these. Theyre such a pleasure to use.

Spent a lot of $$ for pencils that kept breaking... very disappointed and upset about this.

By far the best color pencil that a professional artist can use. They are worth every penny. Smooth and so easy to blend.

I have several brands of artist quality colored pencils. They each have their own unique features and abilities to lay down color. I first bought the 20 pencil set, then knew I HAD TO HAVE the full 76 set. Love them. They also are the most lightfast of colored pencils, if that matters to you. These Caran d’ Ache Luminance pencils are wonderful if you are interested in a more OPAQUE pencil. There are times in my artwork I prefer an opaque pencil, and times I prefer a more transparent pencil for layering colors. I do love these for their opaqueness and creamy lay down ability.

Our grand-daughter graduated high school and has an outstanding artistic ability. She had mentioned that she had used her teachers Caran dAche pencils and loved them, so I thought we couldnt miss by getting her the set. She was thrilled!! Her mother said that it was her favorite gift and totally makes a difference in her artwork. A quality product.

Okay I know that they are insanely expensive investment but if your pocket allows definitely invest in these, even if its a smaller set and u just buy a couple colors by themselves over time, because theyre so worth it. Ive been using polychromos and prisma premier for years and while I love both I have major problems as well. Prismas are amazing at blending but they suck at sharpening or keeping a point and sometimes with too many layers I get wax bloom, while polychromos are amazing at fine details but not the easiest to blend. Here is where my new favorite colored pencil comes in. LUMINANCE is butter smooth but holds a point and stays sharp longer and doesnt have any of the structure flaws like prisma, meanwhile it blends itself its so amazing and joyful to work with. The pigment in these are high quality and super pigmented. Also I just want to say, I usually take my colored pencils and throw them in a canvas roll or a secured pencil pouch BUT this box holds the pencils so snug that Ive kept them in there. It is a bit inconvenient to have three trays on your art desk but I typically work in color groups so its not much of an issue.

The Caran d"Ache Luminance 6901 76 piece colour pencil set is a combination of the highest lightfastness and the smoothness of a permanent lead. Every shade has been formulated using finely-ground pigments chosen for their purity, intensity and resistance to UV. Colours can be blended, burnished and layered on a variety of surfaces. The casing is made of California Cedar from managed forests. Also included are 2 Full Blender-Bright Sticks to allow for the blending of colours. the pencil cap indicates the colour of the pencil.
