I bought this after putting a chest freezer in my carport. I know it won’t keep someone out that has even mediocre bolt cutters but figured it would be a good deterrent. i figured it would be a good deterrent for any animals too. I wasn’t sure how well it would stick but I was shocked. I actually tried very hard to pull it off and it’s impossible without using tools. For the price this is exactly what I needed.

It feels so odd to lock food away from your child, but I was getting up in the morning and finding evidence that he was eating LOTS of sugar, etc in the night. (literally pouring milk and sugar in a glass to drink, so no, I cant just keep sugary treats out of the house) Pro tip - I first brought in a dorm refrigerator and labeled it for him. I told him that he could eat anything in that fridge at any time, and then only put in vegetables. :) On days when he is home for lunch, I also put a grain and protein item in there and he can eat it at any time he chooses. (a sandwich, a piece of pizza, a serving of a leftover). By doing this, the new refrigerator feels special to him and the locking up of the rest of the food a few weeks later was not so much of a punishment. I was also not going to deny a hungry person food, but made his free choice food that which has fewer calories. He does eat veggies well, so its not as though I gave him a choice of something he cant tolerate. He has a genetic deletion (16p11.2 micro-deletion) which predisposes him to obesity, but I am not going down without a fight. Hes lost six pounds in a month and is now merely overweight, instead of pushing the obese mark on the BMI charts. I highly recommend this to anyone dealing with an individual with a special need who just doesnt understand the relationship between food intake and weight gain/health.

I got this for my basement fridge and wanted to secure my drinks. Looks very sturdy and will not be easily ripped. Does the job well.

Our daughter asked for a mini-fridge for her birthday to put in her room. From day one her brothers began raiding her fridge. Theyre big mad now. It worked so well I put one on my mini-fridge in the garage and locked all of them out! Muahahaha Can it be defeated? Yes...its just 3M tape after all. Its best used in a place where it will keep honest people honest or your list of potential suspects is very small.

As another customer mentions I too have an autistic son. Hes picky about food and drink but anything we have that he does like he binges and has no full limit. He will continue eating and drinking until its gone. (Not to mention no one in the house gets anything including his brother) Ive always compared it to having bulimia with out vomitting. Thats seriously what its like. All these years Ive been told to get one; originally I had the child proof locks but my son is presently 12. I was always more concerned about the fact we live in a rental but now he eats and drinks more and follows directions less. We keep everything from snacks to milk locked outside of house. He also likes to get up, go in the kitchen and open and close the fridge in the middle of the night as entertainment and form of stimulation to stay up (light inside of fridge). I finally decided to buy one because I am convinced the fridge will have to be replaced before we move out anyways. That lock isnt going anywhere...keep hearing kids yanking and pulling at it in hopes maybe THIS time it will open and then giving up. In turn our autistic son is giving up trying to use as entertainment and going to sleep because I have taken the fun out of it. UPDATE: After being fed up for a month by not getting his way our son decided to grab a steak knife and popped it off with ease. Enjoying the fact we were actually able to put food in the refrigerator we urgently wanted to fix the problem. We bought another one from a different seller/brand. After installing 2nd I heard him in the kitchen and chased him away. A knife was wedged behind it, I caught him in the act. I decided the fridge is onle $300 and dumped a gallon of super glue in crevices and around edges. Its 1 am and he went back to try again. Because he couldnt he popped the other side off. I just super glued it too to fridge and am sitting here guarding it as it dries. Hopefully at least make it through the night and will generously add more. It would work great if person/people see it and respect it or only tugs a few times. Someone whos disrespectful and doesnt care will still get in if they really want to.

Bought this for my sister, after reading the previous reviews I knew I had to get it. My nephew is diagnosed with Prader Willi Syndrome we’ve tried dozens upon dozens of locks and none of them where able to keep him out. It’s been about a month since I bought these and he has not been able to get into the fridge. The locks are still holding up. He’s pulled and tugged and it will not budge. I’m absolutely thankful for these locks.

I brought this thinking the adhesive would come off within the first two weeks since I would be putting it on a small chest freezer which typically runs warn, hence my apprehension as I though the glue would come get heated and it would get unstuck. image my surprise 6 month in and this sucker is still going strong. You have to be careful when applying it originally as once enough force is applying it will take a bit of work to get off. I really like to fact that it came with the lock include and for the price I at least kind of fell as like Im getting my money worth. all in all would definitely recommend.

Had the cheep little diary key locks and the kids picked them in no time. These are actual padlocks and I can replace them if I need to. Awesome

I bought this a few years ago to keep my autistic son out of the fridge. Its still holding strong but we just bought a stand alone freezer and now I need another, its sitting in my cart until I can buy it on payday. Im still a little worried about how Im getting it off our rental fridge, but Ill figure that out when its time to move. I hope some prying and goo gone will work, if it doesnt they can charge me for it as this has easily saved the cost of the extra charge, or they can keep it on there and let the next family have it. Follow the directions! Clean surface with alcohol, apply adhesive pad by itself and apply pressure for a good minute on each pad before adding arms and lock. Update more than a year after my second purchase: my son is now 15 and this has held strong for 4 years now. I put the second one on backwards and it still works though the bar doesnt stay in place as well when going opening and closing my freezer, but that is my error and not a product problem. Like I said before, follow the directions and itll work fine.
