I got this on sale for $100, and for that price this is an absolute steal, and honestly I would have been willing to pay more for it. Speed isnt blazing, but its slotted in between TLC SSDs and MLC SSDs and can often be had for TLC SSD price. This is especially great for my itx build, where I dont have the luxury of space to fit spinning platter drives but still want a decent amount of storage. Hasnt stopped working after a couple months, so no immediate reliability issues are present.

I decided to purchase this new Crucial MX300 750GB to replace my aging 250GB Samsung 840 EVO as my Windows 10 boot drive in my desktop computer. I have previously used Crucials 64GB C300 series as well as their 1TB MX200 series SSDs and I always choose them for their performance, reliability, and longevity. Crucial states that this drive should be able to sustain up to 220TB of writes, as it contains Microns latest 3D NAND technology. Its capable of reaching speeds of up to 530MB/sec read and 510MB/sec write, and I was able to get these speeds with Crystal DiskMark. The screenshot I have attached shows how much more of an improvement you get when you enable Momentum Cache, which is similar to Samsungs RAPID mode. This increases the endurance of the SSD by allowing the DRAM to absorb the random writes, as they tend to wear out the NAND cells faster than sequential writes. Crucial recommends that you only enable momentum cache for the SSD if you are in fact using it as your boot drive. This drive would also be ideal for use in laptops because of its incredibly low power draw of 0.075W of power. It certainly may extend your laptops battery life over a traditional 5400rpm or 7200rpm drive, but the difference will likely be subtle. I would say maybe an hour longer? (just guestimating) Still, I am glad to see Crucial finally releasing some software (Crucial Executive Storage Client) to compete with Samsungs excellent Magician software. You must download this from Crucials website if you wish to enable their Momentum Cache for better performance. Its not quite as much of a standalone program as Magician, as it uses your web browser to configure your drive, but it has all of the most important information you need about your SSD, as well as the ability to easily update your firmware. I used it to update the firmware of my 1TB MX200 since the MX300 was already on its latest, being a brand new SSD at the time of this review. If you are looking for a brand new SSD to replace the hard drive in your laptop, or to use as a Windows boot drive, look no further. The 750GB MX300 gives you a bit more bang for your buck than either a 500GB SSD or a 1TB SSD, so it really hits the sweet spot in price per gigabyte, and it should have no problem lasting you for several years of use. You will likely end up upgrading this drive long before it ever actually wears out. My only complaint is that the Acronis True Image HD 2015 software that comes with this SSD would not allow me to resize my Windows partition from my old 250GB drive when I tried to clone it. I also tried using EaseUs Todo Backup as well as Macrium Reflect to no avail. It was likely due the Windows-created 450MB recovery partition that was positioned directly after my main Windows partition. I ended up doing a fresh install, which was probably for the best, as I originally had Windows 7 on my desktop computer before upgrading to Windows 8, 8.1, and then finally Windows 10.

The price was a little high, but then it isnt a HHD. I love the light weight & size of these. I think I notice a speed change on boot up, but I dont know if that is the other new parts of my computer doing that. With the 750GB this SSD should outlast me. My old HHD was a 500GB & I didnt even use half of it. Anyway, I just use these as data storage. No OS on them.

For my main desktop been waiting for a drive that made sense with a ~300GB Boot drive...This is the best deal from a reliable company for anything much bigger than 500GB...Mushkin 1TB is the only other option but that is kinda slow...MX300 is a winner. Hint make regular backups, (Paragon have a free version backup app available that will even move an OS drive to different hardware). Super drive got multiple sizes (275GB for the laptop)

Ive been using this for months and so far trouble free operation and it makes my older computer seem like new again. By far the most bang for the buck in terms of computer upgrades.

I cannot believe I didnt upgrade to one of these sooner. I had a problem with the migration software. It did good but the system would crash suddenly or just freeze. I did a fresh OS install on the drive and no problems. I have an older system from 2010 and it is now faster than it ever was. Before I did the upgrade it might take my system 3 minutes to boot. After the upgrade and before the fresh install the system booted in under 30 seconds!! Now with the fresh install it is similar boot time 20-30 seconds!! It loads Adobe Photoshop Elements in 2-3 seconds!! My system is extremely fast again.

I bought two of these drives on Black Friday and Ive noticed the same new issue in both of my computers that I put these in. Occasionally (it seems to be random), the computer will just completely lock up for 10-15 seconds. It doesnt happen very often, but it happens enough to be noticeable. Probably three times a day at most. It seems that theres some sort of issue with the interface on these drives between the computer and the addressable space. I didnt think it was possible for drive IO interrupts to cause this sort of complete hanging of the operating system, so I switched this drive out with my old one for a week to see if the problem persisted. It didnt, so its definitely caused by this drive. Im guessing its a bug in the firmware that comes on the drive, but Im not sure it can be fixed with an update. Hopefully so. Ill update this if anything changes. Other than that, it works fine, its definitely an upgrade over a disk drive.

I bought this on sale, and for the price it was a great purchase. I have been using Crucial SSD in my other computers in my house, and Im very happy with them. No failure so far after more than a year of use. Each drive comes with a copy of Acronis, which makes transferring from my own drive to the new one a breeze. I do recommend this drive.

My daughters 2012 MacBook Pro non-retina was really getting slow, due in part to her abuse, and age. Replaced with the MX300; wow what a difference. Did not clone her old drive, did a clean install of the OS and all the other software on it. Amazing how much faster this computer is now. Love it, well worth the price and time.

Increase the speed, durability, and efficiency of your system for years to come with the Crucial MX300 SSD. Boot up in seconds and fly through the most demanding applications with an SSD that fuses the latest 3D NAND flash technology with the proven success of previous MX-series SSDs. Your storage drive isn"t just a container, it"s the engine that loads and saves everything you do and use. Get more out of your computer by boosting nearly every aspect of performance.
