> 3 dayI have only ever used Derwents inktense pencils, blocks, and watercolor pencils, so when I saw these lovely pencils in greys, neutrals, and browns, I purchased them. I purchased these pencils for a series of drawings of small, local wildlife, including squirrels, pigeons, and raccoons. I think that they will work out wonderfully. The colors are basically greys and browns, in subtle and beautiful, soft shades. The blue and green color names are really descriptors for different grey shades. The lighter shades seem to be very opaque and the pencils seem very buttery. I am really looking forward to using these although I suspect I will be doing a great deal of sharpening. With some added vivid/deeper colors, these pencils would be wonderful for Northern landscapes or seascapes. Great product, Derwent!

> 3 dayThey blend really well and vibrant. Almost... almost... comparable to Caran Dache Luminance, I wish they came in a bigger set. These are way more superb than Derwent Coloursoft. They maybe more crumbly, but I can live with it.

20-11-2024Missing tin lid and zero padding in box. I fear the pencils are damaged but can’t return as I am on a project deadline. For an expensive item I expect a little more care. Not happy.

> 3 dayI love how creamy these pencils are. Theyre fun to draw with! I was surprised to discover I can even erase the majority of the markings.

> 3 dayFur, feather, and nature lovers rejoice..! For years, I had used Derwents Chinese White colored pencil, because it was both opaque and lightfast. Then, about a month ago, I was watching some videos by an amazing artist, where she was using some of the other Derwent colored drawing pencils. I ordered and received them in perfect condition. They blend beautifully, and can be used with oms or powder blender. Theyre priced well, also.

Greater than one weekI just love the muted tones in this line and how all the colors seem to go together so nicely. I do mostly nature and botanical drawing and painting. These colors are fun to work with and just seem to give a more professional look. I initially bought the 12 pack and was so pleased I ordered this to have the complete set. The pencils feel really good too and sharpen nicely. They are a little soft to get/keep a really sharp point but I am using another pencil for very fine lines.

> 3 dayThese are the hidden gems in Derwents line --soft, creamy, muted colors. 23/24 have lightfast rating of 8 or 3 stars, while one has a rating of 7 or 2 stars. These lay down smoothly and richly and blend well with my Lyra Rembrandts and Caran dAche Pablos. For my very first color drawing, I used pencils from all three sets. The Caran dAche Pablos provided the intermediate layer. These pencils provided the base. The Derwent Drawing Pencils are softer than both the Lyras and the Pablos. They are excellent for laying down broad strokes. I use them a little less than I use the Lyras because they are more expensive than the Lyras. However, these are better portrait, fur and feather pencils that combine easily and beautifully with the harder pencils, as my fur drawing below shows. Almost all of that drawing was done using these pencils. They deliver broad strokes as well as fine lines. All in all, these pencils are at the top of the line for creamy fur, hair and feather drawings. Combine these with a rich, harder lightfast pencil and youll have all you need.
