This light is amazing. Brightness is great! I can set it down if need be and the head will shine where ever I need it and that gives me two hands to do what I need to do. Liked it so much I bought one for my wife. She likes it!

I like the brightness of the light for small jobs

This flashlight grows on you. The hard part initially is getting over the ridiculous amount you pay for the flashlight-battery-charger combination (unless you already happen to own DeWalt tools of matching vintage.) But when you start using the flashlight regularly you get enamored of its quality build and flexibility in all scenarios (spotlight, work light, ambient light, etc.) Being part of the DeWalt tool/battery system is definitely a plus for this flashlight. With other rechargeable flashlights when the batteries would go bad I had to throw away the entire flashlight. With this one batteries seem to last forever, and when after eons they do go bad I only change the battery. The detachable battery system also lets me have 2 batteries; I always have one on the charger while I use the other one (or if I expect a very long flashlight session I take both with me. ) I agree with 2 criticisms made by other reviewers: a) The battery fits loose on the flashlight (earlier DeWalt battery-tool systems had a tighter fit, the downside is they required a modicum of strength to attach/detach) and b) the metal loop that you can hang the flashlight from is loose in its resting position, so it can be a bit if a cowbell when you walk. But these are nitpicks in an otherwise rock solid product.

I dont really have anything to compare this to as I have never owned another spotlight and comparing it to those 500 or even 1000 lumen handheld tactical flashlights it a bit of an apples to oranges comparison - I often find myself shutting down my local sporting club at night which is located in a hilly/wooded area and carry this while doing my final sweep of the property and it lights up our 100 yard range with no problems, our trap fields and even the hillside on the other side of the canyon which if I remember correctly is over 150 yards away... I am sure that there are other lights out there that will do the same and possibly even do it better, but the fact that this lights uses the same 20v Dewalt batteries that I already own makes this worth every penny!

Purchased this as a gift for my nephew. Sometimes when I get him a gift he remembers to thank me weeks later and its usually a rather quiet, Thanks. However this time he enthusiastically thanked me quickly and told me how he had used the light just that morning for a project he was working on. Hes a superb carpenter so I was surprised he didnt have a light similar to this already to help him work.

This spot light is incredible. Much better than the rechargeable spot lights from Walmart. If your already in the DeWalt 20vdc lineup and need a spot light it’s a no brainer. If you are just looking for a spot light and don’t already have DeWalt 20vdc tools I’d probably look elsewhere as the cost of batteries and charges for DeWalt stuff needs to be accounted for as this is a Bare Tool.

For those of you who already know about Dewalt, I am wasting my time. For those who don’t, this light is more expensive than the competition because it is not in the same league with any of its competition. Fantastic light, battery, company, and on and on.

Have not tested battery life. Depends on battery Amp Hour rating and age of battery. Over all this is small enough to fit most cramped work spaces. The big flood lights create shadows and miss the area of interest. My only iten for a wish list is a brightness control.
