I am using the stream deck xl to automate tasks in digital performer, the daw I used to make music. I also use it with keyboard maestro to trigger macros. Love the easy to set up features. Will always use it from now on.

I use this for every mode of business. I can set it up for video recording session, DJ, administrative work pressing a button to go to certain network drives and opening apps. Saves a lot of clicks (time).

Still learning how to use it but really enjoying it. Making it easier to use with adobe and other art programs I use.

12/22 Update - nested folders have arrived. Upgrading stars to Chuck Norris status. First of all, this is not just a stream board. If you purchased it for that then be happy because it can do a ton more. If you are advanced and want a slick UI, great firmware and ease of use this is perfect. BUT it can be way better. Disclaimer, if you are a hot key master then this isnt for you. I want your memory powers though. New deck arrived. I totally didnt realize this thing didnt have nested folders. Limited to 210 actions sounded big but math can be hard :) Anyway I pitched the idea to Elgato to allow toggling layouts either on the board itself, which does take up a keys that would have to be dedicated across all layouts, or a quick toggle in the UI itself. For now I just have to save multiple layouts and load what I need for what Im doing. I quickly used up all 15 to open folders. But after I went into my first folder I created on the main board I knew I was only going to go so far. For example, I was hoping for a full 14 key layout for Premier, some of the keys within the layout are great to do quick hot keys, using hot keys in combination with other programs and folders, like bridge within so you dont have to use the back key, then folders dedicated to cuts, effects, color correction, etc... There are so many effects within each you can easily smash a new key to open up 14 new combinations of hot keys. What I really loved about this was the easy to use UI, slick board with a very manageable amount of keys which is what I hated about the larger ones. I never wanted a 48 macro board, just not for me. This board is perfect in size not to small not to big. This board can be so so so much more. Im hopeful they change the name to Everything Deck and not just Stream. People have no idea how awesome this thing can become. And not having Youtube Gaming even with version 1.2.0.1157 at the time of this comment is strange. But Im hopeful the profits earned will be invented into the UI. Which I now understand why they named it Stream Deck. Marketing to the streamers was a smart play that can earn them some hefty cash needed to advance this board. I imagine a lot of people purchasing this board want the nifty scene toggles, meme launch, mute, record, screenshot, etc... But man o man please buy this up so us advanced users can benefit from more upgrades. It goes way beyond streaming. If youre on the fence dont be. Because what separates this from others is the investment into the quality of the board, easy interface and future enhancements that the regular macro boards just dont provide. At lease none that Ive seen.

You dont have to be a streamer, youtuber or even a gamer to enjoy the Stream Deck. This little guy is fully customizable to do virtually whatever you want at a mere button press. Want to switch between headphones and speakers without having to go to the sound settings? Make a button for it. Want to change the color of your smart lights? Make a button for it. Wanna play a fart sound? You better believe theres a button for that. Seriously, this thing has got endless possibilities. Youre going to love it.

But why only regular usb? Have y’all seen the Mac book pros for the last few years? No usb. And I have a hub/dock device specifically for running two monitors and the connectivity… but you can’t use the dock to connect it. A real bummer, in 2022 that a device like this skimps out on being more versatile out of the box.

I saw a sound engineer use this and thought itd be useful. One of my tasks is copying informatoin from websites into Excel so theres a lot of pointing and clicking. With the Streamdeck, Im able to point the mouse to a location with the push of a large button. It speeds up my workflow a lot. It also has many other abilities, such as to launch programs and open documents but the mouse work is by far my favorite application. An example: I have an excel sheet in full screen mode and to save offline, I push a button and the mouse goes to the little icon and presses it and returns to the center of the screen. Each button can be programmed to do different things with either a short or long push so you get a lot of commands. Finally, theres a community of devoted people who answer questions very quickly. I havent dealt with the actual customer service.

When I recieved the elgato stream deck I assumed my software wasnt responding properly until for some reason I moved some keys to the right side of the stream deck and realized all the keys except the right column worked. Thus reducing me to 12 keys of the initial 15 I have purchased. Now the stream deck aside from that is pretty cool still and I have a lot to figure out but I am bummed that I received a unit that wasnt 100% especially now in this economy where every dollar counts.

This has honestly been a game changer to my streams and honestly even more then that. I was skeptical on this product but really it has blew past my expectations. This product comes down to really what you CAN NOT DO and I have yet to find any things I can’t do.

Ive been looking for a product like this for quite a while. Having the extra shortcuts easily at hand is a time saver for me. It means that I dont have to take my hands off the keyboard to open a program. It might not sound like much, but it is for me. The quality of the product seems very good and the setup was a breeze. I especially like the ability to customize the keys with a wide variety of options (launching programs, keyboard shortcuts, opening web pages, etc.). The install was simple and the user interface is clean and very intuitive. The only problem that I have thus far is the price. Im sure they have had good success with the initial roll out at $150. In the long run I doubt this price point is sustainable. $100 is more the likely the price I would pay if I werent an early adopter.
