I bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday and for the last couple of weeks hes been non-stop playing with it. At first, when I order the stream deck I thought it was just for quick access to computer functions, but you can do a lot more with it. My boyfriend added different pages so he can switch back and forth between different functions. You can add features to the buttons to make them produce different sounds or music as well as programming the deck to open up different web browsers. Its a really great gift for anyone who likes computers.

When the pandemic started, I needed to up my virtual home studio. Part of the upgrade was installing Ecamm Live and using the Stream Deck to control the scenes. It works magically for that purpose. Couldn’t be happier. I have one for my home studio and have another for when I travel. Couldn’t do my speeches without it.

super easy to use and program. use it for opening regularly used programs and for trading the market.

Software is very customizable. I mainly use it during my editing processes and to bring up my most used tools quicker.

Im having fun programming the buttons for all sorts of stuff. I have Teams connected and a bunch of shortcut keys programmed. I had to copy/paste 1000 times so i created a button to do that. Saved my fingers a bunch of work.

This Elgato deck is a great device to use with almost any program where you have multiple keystrokes to do something. I’m a photographer and use it for Photoshop and Lightroom, though my son pointed out he could use it to play World of Tanks. Each key is programmable for use in software or even for launching a program. (I have a key dedicated to launching a small hardware monitor program to check the temps of computer components.) In Photoshop, I have a key programmed for Shift+F5 to bring up the Fill option and another to type Shift+F6 to Feather a selection. You can also nest multiple commands. I saw this device being used in a video and thought “What a cool device” and it was reasonably priced. The hardest part is figuring out what you want to program on your computer with a single Key! You install a small app that helps program the keypad and can go to The Elgato website for more options.

This can set up so many useful commands and I love that you can chain them together to do multiple things at once! My favorite feature is that you can change the icon images to whatever you want!

I am using the Streamdeck XL for controlling functions of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 aircraft and other related programs. It works great for this application. The software that programs the Streamdeck is very easy to use and the paper manual that comes with the unit is well written. Very high build quality for the device, and it’s packaging.

This is a review on the XL version and the pros and cons for consumers whilst compared to cheaper macro keyboards. First off I would like to say that this product is really good for what it does but there are drawbacks as well. Pros: -Great tool for workflow not just streaming > assign keys to do many functions that are not limited to streaming software. -LCD screen lets you see what the buttons are (this is important because without this knowing and using a keyboard like this will be based on your memory which brings me to the next pro) -Key Functionality is not limited to the number of keys on your stream deck so anyone looking at the XL I recommend the 15 key version. What I mean by this is on your stream deck the number of keys you have does not limit you to just that number of keys and because of the LCD it allows you navigate the keys with Pages/Folders. With the software built out like this your limited number of keys becomes an infinite number of actions per key. -Profile key setup : allows you to bind an application to the profile so that if you open the specified application it will bring up the necessary keys configured for said app. This builds up the limitation of the number of keys as well. For example I am using a word document and because I configured certain keys for that it will bring it up on my stream deck and then I close word it will revert to my default profile with specific keys configured etc.. This can go on and on allowing more functionality for your keys. -Latency when it comes to products like these typically feel like chinese hardware but not this it feels premium and works premium, button activation happens so smooth so if it ever feels slow its most likely your PC. Cons: -No built in memory -Need Software for device to work -Wireless functionality -Expensive compared to macro keyboards Things the company can do that I think will improve the product is working with Razer to integrate into the software, onboard memory and wireless. This can also give it a nice Razer aesthetic. Just my thoughts.

Ive been using a 6-key Stream Deck for a while and needed more keys but was concerned about where to place it in my crowded studio setup. So, I built a small aluminum shelf that attaches to the adjacent keyboard stand and voila, its perfect. Easy to program and always reliable. Oh, and as for my old 6-key unit. I placed that in the studio live recording room where it functions as a remote control. Super cool!
