My first gaffe tape purchase. After reading all the reviews, I thought this was a no-brainer. Unfortunately, it hasnt worked as well for me. Its not the strongest tape as I thought gaffe tape was supposed to be. Also, it didnt adhere as well as its advertised to, but that is my experience. Maybe itll work better in different conditions or on different materials? I couldnt secure a very lightweight light to a C stand pole with it. The tape is very lightweight, so maybe it isnt as heavy duty as I thought it would be. It comes off very easily, so that could be a plus, but for my application it wasnt. All in all, I guess its ok. Im going to look for something stronger and maybe use this for blocking marks.

This is tape. Green tape. Green gaffers tape. It is of the more matte finish then the gaffer state that have a light sheen to it.

Many years ago now (geez its been a while) I worked in commercial video production as a production assistant. It was then that I learned what gaffer tape was and it changed my life (thats hyperbolic but not totally untrue). Gaffer tape, in general, has numerous applications: pretty much anywhere that you need good, strong, adhesion while still being removable and without leaving behind any adhesive residue. Gaffer tape is cloth-like in texture and composition so it has more in common with duct tape in that regard but its more flexible and easier to remove like masking tape but without being brittle and easy to rip. There were tons of gaffer tape options on Amazon but this one was exceptionally well-reviewed and priced reasonably. Usually, a low price on Amazon means that the product youre getting is less than it can or should be. Not so here. Ive been using this tape to conceal cables in a new apartment. The white color of the tape blends in perfectly with the white paint on my walls and I dont have to spend a bunch of time stapling or using nail-down cable clips in my trim. This keeps my cats from getting at the cables and it keeps the cables from sticking out and being unsightly. If I ever need to replace the cables then all I have to do is pull up the tape, lay down the new cable, and put down fresh tape. The best part is that the adhesive stays down from the center to the edges so there arent edges rolling up and collecting dust or otherwise compromising the adhesion.

Im revising my original meh review after using the gaffer tape a few times. The hood on my car would not lock down after checking the oil so I used 2 (two) 6 inch strips of this tape to hold the hood down until I could drive the 20 highway miles to my mechanic, in the rain. And after getting there it peeled off easily and I could have reused it again if I had wanted. The second time was a test. I taped one end of a 2X4 to my workbench using gaffer tape and gorilla brand tape. About 6 feet of the 2X4 extended in to space. After leaving for the night the gaffer taped board was still in place and not even sagging. The gorilla taped board was resting on the ground. Further, the gorilla tape left a glue residue while the gaffer tape peeled off clean. I give it 4 stars because I still think its about twice as expensive as it should be. Good product, does what it says it will do. But there are lots of other tape products out there that are just as good or better, but at half the price. Gaffer tape sounds really cool but the reality is that great tape these days is not that hard to find. For instance, genuine commercial quality duct tape (forget the Duck crap) is easy to find at most big box stores and is half the price but twice the value. This is the stuff that commercial heating guys use to bond metal heating ducts together in the bowels of buildings, lasting for decades. Great technology but commonly available. Do your homework, forget the hype, save some money.

It is pricey but it is the real deal. Like duct tape or electrical tape, the difference between budget and quality tape is huge. Smooth cloth, consistent tearing, adhesive stays where it is supposed to, strong grip that peels off cleanly, and the roll doesn’t melt into a sticky mess on a warm day. Brown is not nearly as dark as the photo. White is great for writing on with a sharpie. Black is black, can’t go wrong with the original.

I just received this roll so I havent tested it yet but I wanted to give some initial observations Specs from WebGage Customer Care: Total thickness: 11.5 mils Adhesion to Steel: 50 oz/in Tensile Strength: 42 lb/in Matte-Finish Vinyl Coated Cloth Adhesive Type: rubber Thickness: I have used the JVCC gaffer tape (GAFF30YD/BLK230) which is 12 mil, and this is rated slightly thinner at 11.5mils. Although only a 0.5 mil difference, I think it is noticeable (perhaps different measuring standards?). The 12 mil JVCC feels closer to the thickness of electrical tape, there is a thicker spread of glue (like duct tape), its whiter, and it doesnt stretch. This Gafferpower stretches more and has a lighter spread of glue that is more gray. Sometimes thicker is better for protection, sometimes thinner is better so it wraps and grabs better. Texture: JVCC has a very unique texture that is soft and smooth, like a fine matte velvet, which looks nice and doesnt stretch. The Gafferpower is more like other gaffer tapes - mesh like duct tape and stretches. Tearing by hand: Similar, but I think due to its thickness, the JVCC tears better (sometimes jagged, threads sticking out). Need to use scissors for a nice cut. Tackiness: Similar, but JVCC has more glue. Strength: Havent tested yet. JVCC is strong. Longevity: Havent tested yet. The JVCC can leave residue on some materials over long term (e.g. plastic book covers) and the backing would slide away from the glue if theres movement; on other materials, it can be clean after months. Overall the Gafferpower still seems like good tape. EDIT: WebGage Customer Care responded to my questions about the thickness and provided specs, and after double checking, I updated my comments, giving it 5 stars. Thumbs up to WebGage!

The best thing Ive ever ordered off of Amazon. Coming here to repurchase in the same color, hot pink. Ive tried other brands of gaff tape but this is my favorite. I use this for all sorts of stuff, its super handy, and the bright color ensures I never misplace it.

Excellent gaffer tape. Just like the black tape gafferpower offers but in a woodland camo.
