> 3 dayThis saved me a ton of money over calling someone in to replace the whole opener. Since there are no moving parts in this sensor, I had a hard time thinking that they could just wear out and cause the door not to shut. But I took the gamble, spent the $34 and gave them a shot. I was able to cut off the old ones really close to the sensor and reuse the wiring that was already there. I had to pull back a couple of inches of wire all the way back from the opener to the sensors to have enough to connect the new sensors. I was pleasantly surprised and a little proud that it worked perfectly the very first try!!!

> 3 dayI was about to replace safety beams, but in reading this 1st review got good advice. I unplugged operator for 15 seconds, replugged it in, which apparently reset the beams. IT WORKED. I think problem came from bad electric storm last PM.

> 3 dayDoes not work in sunlight. Genie’s website says doors that don’t go down due to sunlight is a “minor inconvenience” because they expect people to stay and watch the door go all the way down. This is not a minor inconvenience - it is a HUGE safety issue. When garage door button is pressed and the door starts to activate, virtually everyone walks inside expecting the door opener to work correctly and go down. With this product, the door will go back up during the day leaving your garage and house open and unsecured. This product does not meet the residential quality standard, which is generally several grades below commercial or industrial standards. To be clear — the issue is NOT sunlight is washing out the beams. Genie has continued to lower the quality of the beams by reducing their beam output. They no longer have the strength to overpower the sunlight. Older genie sensors and other brands use basic quality sensors so the beams work in sunlight. The new beams quality is so low sunlight washes them out. Additionally Genie does not follow industry standards and built a proprietary beam system — their openers require their beam sensors. Even though higher quality sensors are available on the market, Genie does not allow them to be used. With the Genie system, there is simply no way to use high quality beams. Your family and your property are at risk if you use these beams. Use a different brand opener until Genie fixes their issues.

> 3 dayExcellent and easy to install. The builder of my house installed a Genie garage door opener, and after a year and a half, all of the sudden, it would not close when using the Home Link button in my vehicles. When I checked, the original red sensor was blinking. I took both sensors out, opened them up, cleaned them, checked the main unit, checked the wires, even called Genie technical support and nothing. They recommended changing the sensors, so I ordered these. Installation was a breeze. I had to cut the wire from the original sensors because they were hardwired into the board inside. So I cut the wires, split them, attached to both screws on the back of the new sensor, reattached to wall, repeated the process with the green sensor and voila...it worked perfectly fine again...first try. Highly recommended.
