Herschel Novel Duffel Bag

Compared to my old Novel duffel (which lasted through two years of heavy travel) this version is great. I particularly like that is is all canvas construction. On my old one, which had pleather handles - the handles started breaking down and looked like crap. Also, the details on this (copper hardware, blue striped interior) set this apart from the standard Novel Duffel, with all the same features. The shoe compartment is also enhanced, as it includes a bag to tuck away the shoe compartment when it is not in use. It is less structured than the nylon counterpart, due to the differences in material, so if its not full, it will not hold its shape.

Awesome I use it for the gym. It would also be a good overnight bag. I get compliments all the time.

The bag looks great and has plenty of room. The strap is cheap plastic and the hooks often get side-loaded which cause the thin metal clip to pop off. I’ve had the bag for two months and have had to make my own clips so my bag doesn’t randomly fall while I’m carrying it.

I havent had this bag long enough to encounter some of the potential issues people have mentioned but I put it to use last weekend and it performed admirably. I stuffed this thing with items from clothing to tech and it held up fine. No squeaking noise to report or any other issues. The bag is built quite well and I love the contrast between the Navy Blue color and the pinkish color on the inside. It adds uniqueness to this bag that you cant find in others. Honestly, if you like the bag I would recommend it.

This bag is my entire life! I take it with me everywhere when I travel and I’m always amazed with how many compliments I get on it for just being a plain black bag. Herschel is one of my favorite brands and this bag just exudes minimalist perfection. It has everything you need and a great design, what else can you ask for? My only recommendation would be to have the shoe garage a little bit more constructed so you could slip your shoes in whenever without handing to fuss with the contents of your bag, but that’s really splitting hairs. Overall, an amazing bag if you’re looking for something sleek and sophisticated.

I really enjoy the product but it truly is a weekender bag. There is really only room for at most 5 outfits of clothes, shoes, and some toiletries. Other than that the bag looks great and feels sturdy!

I cannot say enough good things about this bag! I purchased this bag because I was going back and forth a few times a week from my house to my girlfriends house and needed a bag to take back and forth. I didnt want something with a ton of pockets or straps or anything. I was just in the market for a simple bag, and the simplicity of this bag is where it shines. There is no other way to describe it other than simple. I took the shoulder strap off and would just carry it around using the two handles. There is only one pocket the inside, which was all that I needed just for simple toiletry items. There is a pocket on the outside as well for shoes, which came in handy so that I didnt have to carry a pair of shoes separately on their own. Also, the build quality of the bag is exceptional, the material of the bag itself is a very nice rugged material that Im sure can hold up to just about whatever you throw at it. The handles are of the highest quality as well and I feel like they will never wear down or break Overall, this is an amazing bag and I would recommend it to anybody looking for a nice simple duffle bag that is still of the highest quality.

I needed a carry on bag for a trip and was swayed by the Herschel name and product appearance. It holds enough for a week of travel to a casual location (shorts, polos, etc.) and it is a good carry on size. When I received the bag I was immediately disappointed with the quality of the handles which are covered in a thin leather looking vinyl that is clearly not going to hold up over the long haul. Other reviewers commented about that but since the bag has a lifetime guarantee I assumed Herschel would stand behind it. I now gather that if the vinyl doesn’t hold up they are calling it normal wear and tear according to a couple of the reviews here; I certainly hope that’s not the case because it is relatively pricey and I assume a lifetime guarantee would cover that problem. I like the sleek appearance, but now wish I had purchased a bag with an outside pocket or flap to hold boarding passes. I also like the separate shoe storage. If you like it, buy it (I did) but you can do much better at this price point.
