Ive tried two of these fans from Amazon. The motor on the first one made a high pitched whining noise on all speed levels. Very annoying and difficult to sleep with it on, even at the lowest setting. Sent it back for a replacement. The replacement was an improvement but not by much. The lower four settings are nearly silent which is great, but the on higher four settings the motor whine comes back. The fan doesnt move as much air as other tower fans so it lacks the louder whooshing sound that might drown out the motor noise. I think the motor is of poor quality judging by the whine and the number of complaints of it failing within a year. Ive had other tower fans that still have silent motors after years of use. This fan is quite compact so the turbine is smaller and tightly packed with little blades. This may make the fan quiet on the low settings but seems to keep it from pushing a lot of wind on high and generating good white noise for sleeping. It is a new idea I guess but it wasnt well executed or tested before being rolled out. The remote isnt great as others have noted. It has power, oscillate and speed buttons but no way to turn down the bright LED light on the fan. There is a button on the fan to dim or turn off the light but for some reason has five brightness levels. Really on/off would be sufficient. And any change made to the fan settings turns the light on full brightness again. So without a light button on the remote, you need to go over to the fan and press the light button five times anytime you change the fan settings and want the light off again. The multiple speed settings are overkill as well as there is not much difference between the first three, the middle three and the top two. Low medium and high would be fine, especially since the fan doesnt get very high. The fan remote sensor is very sensitive and has a wide range of signals it will accept. Ive found two different tv remotes and my stereo remote all affect the fan in unexpected ways. the same button on my tv remote will sometimes turn the fan on or off, start it oscilating, change the fan speed or have no effect at all. The results arent consistent and even when the remote is pointed away and the fan is facing a different direction, it can pick up stray signals and behave like its haunted. I do like the compact footprint, silent lower speeds when watching TV and the adjustable light. It also doesnt make loud beeping noises when changing settings which I hate on my other fans. It seems Honeywell had some good ideas that stayed half-baked and badly thought through and that carried forward to the design and quality control. For the price, this should be a much better, more polished unit. My second one is going back and Ill look for a different fan.

Really pleased with this portable unit. It is quiet and has nice controls that are easy to use/push/set to your needs. Slim design means it does not take up space - mine sits right next to the kitchen island for use in the kitchen. No remote control but not needed for my use. 5 star.

I wanted a quiet fan for my office and this fan is fine at medium speed and up, but at the lower speeds it makes a bit of a grinding/rattling noise. Definitely not a smooth sound like I would expect of a fan. Unfortunate really. It doesnt look broken, the box arrived in fine condition. Im unsure if thats how it is or if mine is just broken.

My friend has one of these in every room of her house and I see why! Keeps rooms cool and Im hoping that will cut down on my air-conditioning cost this year. I love the different air functions and speeds. Cant wait to order more.

Overall, I love this fan. It is very quite on low settings, and does increase slightly as you turn it up ( 8 fan settings ) But, Its not bad. I purchased a regular pedistal fan before I found this one that sounds like a jet engine taking off! So the Honeywell one is not noisy at all. I love white noise at night anyway! The Cons and reason for 4 stars vs 5: I dont like the generic remote control. The remote should have all the same features as the fan itself! This one is on/off, reciprocate and fan speed only. If you use it in the bedroom and dont like bright blue lights, the remote is no good. You have to manually turn the blue light off at the fan. And, anytime you make an adjustment to the speed or anything else, the blue light comes back on. Also, once you turn the fan off, it doesnt remember your settings other than the fan speed (the blue light comes on, if you like it to reciprocate, you have to set that up again) . The work around... I set the fan up the way I like it prior to getting into bed at night and hope that I dont need to adjust it during the night.

I bought this fan because it has 8 speeds. The 2 lowest settings on this fan are even lower than the low setting on other fans of this size. Think of them as extra low settings. The lowest setting is like a very slight gentle breeze and I mean very slight. The 2nd setting is just ever so slightly more powerful than the first. I love it. As it goes up by about the 5th setting youre at medium. Its so much better than just low, medium, & high on other fans. It solved a problem I was having because Im super picky about temperature and air flow. I live in So Cal so during winter I like to sleep with the window open to make my room cold to where I can sleep comfortably with a blanket. The problem I have in spring and fall is that Im too warm even with the window open so I put a fan by the window to blow the cool outside air on me. The problem is some nights its too cold with the fan even on low. At times Im too warm or to cold I just cant get right. But now having these extra low settings on this new fan is perfect. I have a couple problems with it. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could but it gets 5 because of the extra low settings that I love. Reasons for 4.5 stars is the price. This fan is kind of light in weight and seems a little cheaply made. Dont get me wrong its not that cheaply made, I just expected a little more for the price. I would say this fan should be more like $45- $50 instead of $67 which is what I paid. Not a huge difference but still. Maybe its the different settings and the control panel that lights up thats driving the price up a little. I also wished the high setting was a little more powerful. This fan is definitely for a small to medium room. Otherwise keep it somewhat close to you. If you have a large room and the fan is at the furthest possible point away from you this fan wont be powerful enough.

The fan is good but the base is terribly weak, made of cheap plastic

This fan does its job well. The many different speeds are quite useful to get a range of assistance depending on the current air temp. Even at ~80°F and at the second to max speed this fan could cool me and my room sufficiently. However, within 2 weeks of receiving this fan the servo that oscillates it back and forth started to degrade to the point that on both max points (where it switches direction) the fan shakes/is rickety such that it is too noisy. It still cools well if I turn off the oscillation and stay in front of it, but it doesn’t circulate around the room as well. This is a normal thing that happens to these types of fans but 2 WEEKS?? A little too soon…

To begin with, no fan is a substitute of an AC system, those that use one need to understand thermodynamics, AC units remove the heat from the room and have super-cooling methods that wouldnt be used in a fan. To get air OUT of a room, you need an exit, an open door, window, etc. I use mine in support of our AC unit, which is all the way in the living room (and struggles to reach my room). Fans are mainly intended to keep the air circulating, but by doing so also slightly (but noticeably in enclosed environments, far more than in open) increase the temperature as a byproduct. However, fans do make it more bearable, and make a significant difference when centered onto the person in question. Its a rather quiet, and tall fan, as opposed to the arguably much stronger, less efficient, and louder box fan that I used to have. This fan does rotate, has multiple settings including ones (that at the lower levels) are little more than white noise, meaning it can be used to give a slight cooling sensation, without being overwhelming, while also staying just loud enough to drown out the disturbances of the night, an owl hooting at an odd hour, birds flying around, etc. Is it perfect, no, in my case my bed happens to be too tall (which I had just set up a day prior to receiving the fan) to make the full use of the fan at night, however the white noise helps with sleeping, and it still does keep a good deal of the heat off at night. I would recommend it to someone who understood what they were looking for in a fan, and what they would be getting. If you are looking for a fan, not an AC unit, this is something that I would recommend.

Powerful, quiet, whole room cooling. Eight levels of quiet control, from "white noise" to "whisper." features digital temperature display, adjustable thermostat, oscillation, remote control and breeze mode. 12 Hour auto shut off timer. Reach through carrying handle. Refer to the user manual for troubleshooting steps.
