> 3 dayIts ok, not bad. It moves air and rotates. It advertises itself as quiet, but it is really only quiet if you are on the bottom 3 settings. It makes sound when it oscillates. The remote is handy, but the light comes back on when you adjust the speed or oscillation with the remote making me have to get up and turn the light off. Unless there is a major sale I would say dont get this one.

> 3 dayFirst reviewed on August 19th, 2019: I purchased this Honeywell HYF290B tower fan for a hallway in my home. I have window air conditioners in my exercise room and living room, and I wanted to disperse the air a little more evenly as the exercise room stays cold while the hallway is noticeably warmer. I had been using a small box fan to blow air into the room to circulate cold air into the hallway, but it is very old, and I knew there had to be a better option somewhere on Amazon. Tower fans caught my eye because they oscillate, or rotate back and forth. This means it can alternate blowing air into my exercise room and down the hall, which should be great for circulation. In practice, the fan is ineffective because it doesnt blow very hard, even on the highest setting. The name of the fan is Quietset, and in that regard, it excels. It has 8 speeds, sleep, whisper, and calm, all the way up to Power Cool. All of the fan modes are very quiet, but thats because they arent blowing much air at all. I can hold my hand two-and-a-half feet in front of the fan and not feel it blowing on the highest setting. I moved the fan to the center of the hallway, away from the wall, to make sure it wasnt starved for air on the intake in the back, and it still didnt blow very much air. I set it up to test it for a few days and realized the discrepancy between the exercise room temperature and the hallway temperature was greater with this tower fan than with my old mini-box fan. I purchased this tall fan expecting a tower of air, and it simply doesnt provide it. On the positive side, the fan seems to be well built. It has a relatively small profile, and it is very quiet. It includes a remote and 7 levels of power. The light is dimmable, so it may be useful in a bedroom just to keep the air from getting stale at night in a room with no ceiling fan. I cant recommend it for any other application, and I wish I had saved the box to send it back. 2/5 stars UPDATE: June 30, 2020, I moved to a new home in November of 2019 and brought this fan with me. When setting it up, I noticed that the housing wasn’t secure, and one piece of the plastic was pushed in on the side (see updated photo). I didn’t know if this had occurred during the move or prior to it. I pushed it back together so that the sides were air tight and used the fan again. This time, there was a solid stream of air coming out of the front of the fan, which now meets my performance expectations. I have it 15 feet away in the living room and can feel a strong breeze on the highest setting, but it is still quiet enough that it is not annoying or distracting. The best part is that it comes with a remote control, so I was able to program it into my Logitech Harmony 650 and 660 remotes (purchased on Amazon) so I can control it across the room. I am able to see the lights on top to know what speed setting it is on. The oscillation works well. Overall, I am supremely satisfied with the fan now and highly recommend it. 5/5 stars

> 3 dayThis fan is quiet and blows a lot of air. The remote is a bit silly but the rest of the build is excellent.

> 3 dayFirst of all, let me say what a nice-looking fan this is. I spent too much time picking the decor for my little abode to want to have an ugly fan sitting around! Of course, right now, I have it sitting in the doorway of my bedroom (classy, I know!) because Im seeing how well it cools the room down. As for the rest of the positives: This fan is SOOOO quiet that, at first, I doubted that it would be very cooling. I was wrong. Once I got this assembled (very easy, btw) & figured out the controls (not too hard), I turned my AC off! LOL Being from Alaska, this Iowa heat and humidity is taking some getting used to. Also, Im not very familiar with AC and the costs (except for a horrendous bill in Arizona several years back). My apartment is a nice-sized 1 bedroom, 1 bath, kitchen and living room. There is a ceiling fan in bedroom, but at night, it still can get warm. Since this fan is doing so great at cooling the whole front of the apartment, I plan to put it in doorway of bedroom during the nights. With my AC off right now, I am totally comfortable. Its only 75 degrees out this morning, so I will see how well this helps when the temps rise (the other day, it was around 90). Even if I have to use this in conjunction with AC, I will be able to power the AC down a bit to help with the bill. By the way, having a remote will be super nice - when I get the AAA batteries that were not included. A plus is that the remote stores so neatly in the back of the fan. NOTE: For assembly, its easier it you follow the pictures/directions on the box flap rather than using the booklet. The booklet makes it seem more complicated than it really is.

> 3 dayAs you can see in the picture Sleep through Power Cool they are making it sound like a noisemaker. But, this is actually the levels of fan coolness & the noise is whatever noise the fan makes from each level. You can not chang the noise you can only change the sleep mode which is timer & fan levels 1(sleep)-8(power cool).

> 3 dayBought 2 of these fans about 2 yrs ago. One the remote never worked, but that fan was in the bedroom and was only ever used on 1 setting. The other fan went to the living room. You would not believe how hard it is to find a fan with so many settings that is actually quiet on the lower settings (although I do not think the higher settings are THAT noisy). So, why the 5 stars and why am I purchasing a replacement? My 88 lbs German shepherd has knocked the living room fan over about 4 times now (and I mean full force knocked over trying to play with the cats) and while it is still going strong, something has broken and it is tilted now. As for the fan portion....still work perfectly well and no issues with the remote. I am getting a new one since it is a little difficult to position it just right with it being tilted. And incase you are wondering if the oscillator still works after all the trauma to it.....yes it does. While I do not use that, it still works. I have complete faith in the quality of Honeywell fans after this!

Greater than one weekI literally almost cancelled my order of this fan, because after I read the reviews, it seemed like many people felt this fan wasnt very powerful. Because the price was so fair, I did not though, and I am so glad. The people who left bad reviews saying this wasnt a powerful fan... Im not sure if they live in a bottomless pit of fire or something, and thats why it doesnt work - but personally, I live in SWFL, where the temps can get in the 100s, and I think this fan is amazing. Definitely cools well, and has several different modes. If you like it quiet, they have that option. If you like some noise, they have that option as well. As far as I am concerned, this fan was a steal at the price, and I couldnt be more happy. Awesome fan!!

Greater than one weekThis fan works so well we bought multiple for our home its not too bulky and doesnt take up too much space. The speed levels are nice cause it can be very mellow to a stronger air flow. It also is pretty quiet as far as fans go. Would recommend!
