Infant Optics DXR-8 Add-on Camera (Not Compatible with DXR-8 PRO)

We have four of these set up in our house. They work great!

Our old monitors (Summer Infant Touch) were humming loudly and getting irritating. Having 3 kids in 3 separate rooms, we needed to replace the monitors and didnt want the hassle of dealing with multiple monitors like we had done for the past few years. The DXR-8s scan mode allows us to have an individual camera in each room sending a video and audio feed to a single monitor for us to monitor. It is so convenient. The scan mode rotates between rooms throughout the night and gives us peace of mind. The shortcut button is also wonderful for quick adjustments during the middle of the night. The picture quality is great and the audio is clear--plus there is little feedback! We are certainly pleased with our new purchase, which we made after a considerable amount of research. We see now why the DXR-8 received such great reviews from so many reviewers and websites.

ALMOST perfect! The PTZ was great, and I am in love with the talk back feature. The only con is, while its made to be wall mounted or ceiling mounted, if you do mount it on the ceiling, you cant flip the image on the handset! Which means you are stuck with an upside down image! It seems like such a silly oversight. Also, like others say, it is prone to interference. I keep my phone and the handset to the monitor on my nightstand at night to charge, and if my phone receives any data in the middle of the night, the signal from the baby monitor drops and it makes a loud BEEP! to let me know its out of signal range. It has startled me awake on numerous occasions. Im still trying to figure out where I can put both my phone and the monitor where its accessible in the middle of the night, but not so close the signals interfere. I will say, though, we got a power adapter that made a weird whistling noise, so I contacted infant optics directly to see if theyd replace it, and they sent out a replacement within 48 hours. Im liking that customer service :-)

We bought this monitor to replace a cheaper one that we absolutely hate. I was seeking a monitor that had clear picture and sound but also that allowed the screen brightness to dim or brighten as I like leaving the monitor on at night but hate how bright they are. I also needed a monitor that could show the whole darn crib. Our old one had a cord that was too short to raise the camera any further so there was no way to capture the entire crib. Seriously? So, needless to say, this one is a major and drastic improvement. I appreciate the large screen size, the ability to switch to different cameras, the ease of turning up and down the volume, the scan feature, the long length of the camera cord, and the ability to change screen brightness.

I got this monitor because our other broke shortly before our second baby arrived. I was so happy with how much better quality the picture was than with our previous camera which was terrible! I also loved being able to have multiple cameras for the monitor. Everything was going perftly until late week the monitor stopped working. I was a little annoyed, naturally. But when I reached out to customer service they were quick to tak me through the process to get a replacement shipped out! They were amazing. I just received the replacement today and I’m so happy to have it back. I highly recommend this monitor. The quality is amazing and you can’t beat the customer service!

Easy to add cameras to this monitor system, purchased a second camera at the birth of our second child. Been using the system since 2015 with our first and still using them with our 3rd. Cameras are great and easy to control, provide good audio and push to talk which helps with the older ones. Main monitor device had one flaw using a micro usb charge port but have corrected that in 2019 with a barrel connector which is much more durable. Overall its been a great system and couldnt imagine not having it, company stands by their product and their customer service has been great when Ive had problems (related to usb charge port), quick and responsive and got me a solution to my problem quickly!

I really love this camera. The night vision on it is great as this is what we see the most. During the day when the lights are on in my kids rooms the picture quality is really great it shows the colors of the crib sheets and other objects well. Having multiple children i love that there is a scan setting and every 10 seconds or so it switches rooms thus allowing overnight observation of all rooms. It does have the talk back feature which can be utilized but we do not very often unless we are playing around. we have not tried out the different lenses but will shortly be switching out to the wide view lens. Overall we LOVE this camera, definitely worth the money. it also does not run off of wifi which means it can’t be hacked (bug plus for us) and the battery life has on average lasted 6-8 hours or so (this is hard to say as im not always super close when it dies) the volume can also be turned up fairly loud. We really love the infant optics products. Another added bonus to all infant optics products is their customer service is out of this world amazing! My parent unit quit working and they replaced and had the new unit to me within 2 days of shipping the old one. They are very friendly and even after receiving the new parent unit they ensured to email me to check that everything was working appropriately and I didn’t have any dither needs (this was awesome)! I will continue to buy their products and I am constantly recommending them to friends!

Originally had an issue with the first add on camera.. the sound was not working. I contacted the company via their website and they quickly sent me a new one (and I of course returned the original). Quick and Excellent customer service.

I have been very satisfied with my infant optics monitor and camera, as well as the add on camera. I love that the cameras move to see the entire room, and that you can use multiple cameras on the same monitor. I have not seen an equivalent product with a similar price point. I recently had a sudden issue with my monitor (after having no issues for almost 2 years) and received excellent and prompt customer service. Infant Optics sent me a new monitor, even though my monitor was technically outside the 1 year warranty period. I highly recommend this monitor and it’s add on cameras as a low cost monitor with a variety of desirable features.
