Yes the view is little wider than the original lens on the camera but the quality is less superb. Unless I turn up picture light to 3 or 4 the only thing that shows up on monitor is right in the center where the light on camera lights up. But if I have it that bright it makes my room too bright. My last monitor that i had for 5+ years had amazing quality on the lowest light setting but the charging port was horrible or I would have replaced my old one with it. Unless u really need the wide lens, I’d stick to the one the comes with the camera.

Bought a couple of these now that my little one is a toddler which called for an additional camera and wider view of their room and the living room/play area. Honestly, Infant Optics should include the standard lens and this one when you buy the baby monitor set instead the zoom lens. You already have the ability to zoom in on the monitor so a dedicated zoom lens is not needed, the wide angle lens however should be standard fare when you initially purchase the camera, or just bump the price up and include all three.

Its cool could have better picture quality but I can see him both day or night it works best in a very sunny room but either way I have no complaints

The most important time for a camera to work for me is at night when the little one is sleeping. I can’t tell if his eyes are open or closed. If he has his pacifier. It’s not 50 feet away it’s super close to not work correctly. This lens isn’t very good for that. It’s blurry. The attached lens this camera comes with is great just a little too close but this one didn’t solve that problem. Not sure why it’s such bad night vision from 3 feet away.

Works as advertised on our camera.

This is the lense that should come with the camera. If you plan to mount the camera over the crib. You want this lense unless you want to mount the camera 6’ up on the wall... With this lense we can see the whole crib with the camera mounted about 1.5’ above the crib rail.

I was hesitant to try this lens after reading several poor reviews. The reviews stated that the picture quality, specifically when using night vision, was horrible. I stumbled upon a Q&A that said the poor picture quality when using night vision had been resolved in newer models. I cannot remember the exact year they said, but we purchased our video monitor in late 2018. I figured I would give it a try since scanning the room for our child (who just moved to a toddler bed) with the standard lens is somewhat annoying. I put the new lens on tonight, and I was very pleased that the picture quality isn’t horrible. The picture quality is slightly worse than when using the standard lens, but I can see clearly enough that it won’t be an issue. My only complaint about this video monitor in general is that I think the picture quality should be better overall for the price, but again, it does it’s job so it’s not something to throw a fit about.

This lens is good during the day providing sharp wide picture of the baby room. Unfortunately, it is absolutely useless at night even with low light on in the room. I have purchased Infant Optics DXR-8 baby video monitor for my sons room because it included night vision feature allowing us to keep track on him without disturbing his sleep. The original lens that came with the camera does a great job, but the provides limited field of view only covering about a 1/4 of the 9 x 9 room. Wide angle lens allows us to see most of the room and actually provides sharper picture compared to the original lens. However, it seems to block/reflect the IR light at night making the monitor too dark to see anything.

Just got this today and I have to say its an instant game changer. Our playroom is long and it was impossible to keep my constantly moving toddler in frame. I put on this wide angle lens and I can see more than half the room on the monitor at a time. Its great! Its very clear when theres a lot of light and seems about as grainy as the regular lens so all in all a great improvement.

This is my third baby monitor. I purchased it for my 2 year-olds room. My two previous monitors were Samsung SEW-3043W BrightVIEW HD; the Samsung was fine while it worked but both monitors stopped working after about 1 year of regular use. I chose the Infant Optics monitor for 2 reasons - 1) it does not use wifi (my preference for security reasons), and 2) it has a wide angle lens option (sold separately). The wide angle lens is perfect for a bigger view of the entire room which will be great when trying to keep an eye on an active toddler. I have only had the monitor for two days, but it seems to be working great and was very easy to set up. I hope it is reliable and lasts longer than my previous monitors.
