Infant Optics Wide Angle Lens For DXR-8

This is a must have for my family. We have twins and we are able to use one monitor and one camera for both cribs, side by side. I didnt notice any difference in quality over this lens and the regular lens, and you can still zoom in if necessary. We dont have this all the way to the ceiling, but if we put it all the way to the ceiling it would show the entirety of both cribs.

This is my third baby monitor. I purchased it for my 2 year-olds room. My two previous monitors were Samsung SEW-3043W BrightVIEW HD; the Samsung was fine while it worked but both monitors stopped working after about 1 year of regular use. I chose the Infant Optics monitor for 2 reasons - 1) it does not use wifi (my preference for security reasons), and 2) it has a wide angle lens option (sold separately). The wide angle lens is perfect for a bigger view of the entire room which will be great when trying to keep an eye on an active toddler. I have only had the monitor for two days, but it seems to be working great and was very easy to set up. I hope it is reliable and lasts longer than my previous monitors.

With products like this it makes me wonder what we have been doing this whole time! Missing out, that’s what. Very rarely are we this satisfied with a product. So easy to install. Captures the entire room so we can keep track of our extremely active toddler. Can’t recommend this enough!

Its a great view of our toddlers room. I love it, but my wife doesnt. She only wants the zoom lens where she can watch him breathing while he sleeps, but I like being able to see him play in his room if were in another part of the house. If you want to see the whole room without sacrificing picture quality, get this lense. If you want a happy wife, buy a second camera in secret and put this lens on it, and let her see the zoom view while you use this...

I wish I would have listened to the reviews! I have no idea how this lens gets 5 stars. We just purchased the Infant Optics - DXR-8 PRO & needed a wide angle lens. Upon receiving the lens, we hooked it up with ease & the clarity was like looking through a Motorola Razr Flip Phone from 2005. It’s beyond me how a company that makes a wonderful baby monitor, with up to date technology, is still stuck in the early 2000’s in picture clarity with a simple wide angle lens. And to top it off, the night vision was horrendous- you could see absolutely nothing but a bright white glare. It was like watching TV static. It’s a good thing this lens is only $11, because it’s completely unimpressive & a major let down. I would be embarrassed if I were Infant Optics, producing & putting my name on such a lackluster lens. We just ended up buying a $16 camera mount with a flexible arm that holds the camera above the crib & it solved all of our “wide angle” needs. Please listen to these 1 star reviews…they’re absolutely true!! This product isn’t worth any time or money spent!!

Got this wide angle lense because I was tired of constantly moving the camera when my daughter was falling asleep. I agree with most reviewers that the quality is not as sharp as other cameras on the market BUT at her age 16 months I just really need to see if she is laying down, or sitting or standing in the crib. PLUS this camera is not in WiFi therefor you sacrifice the image quality but I know that no one will hack it online. So it can use improvement but it does what it’s supposed to do.

Incredibly easy to install, just twist it into the threads of The camera after you take the old lens out. My only complaint is the picture quality is not perfect. It may have more to do with the camera and less with this lens, but it could have been better. I can still see everything at a nice wide angle (ie my kids entire bed), but it’s a tiny bit fuzzy.

Great Add on lens for the Optics baby cam. The only down fall I have with it is, the picture quality is not as clear now ( especially when you zoom in). Otherwise love that I can my little ones entire room so well.

Works perfectly. I didnt have any issues with the nighttime quality. Its one of the best images I have seen in a baby monitor. It zooms in and still has a clear image. I can see my daughter face so clearly to the point where I feel comfortable not being near her which is huge for me since she has had medical issues in the past. I need to be able to see her face clearly especially well she sleeps. This lens gives me that peace of mind. Im so tthankful for how much more zoomed in I get and how clear it is. Well worth every penny plus more.

We use this camera system to keep an eye on dog in his various beds when we are upstairs in bed so we know if he needs to go out. The normal view from these cameras is so zoomed in that you cannot see much area. I guess it is meant to really be zoomed in on a baby in a crib. But these wide angle lenses make it so you can see much more of the room and work perfectly for us.
