Infant Optics Wide Angle Lens For DXR-8

I am what most call a perfectionist...but we all know that I AM THE NORMAL ONE and it is the rest of the world that is mediocre at best. :-) I have a huge amount of faith in most amazon prime products, usually looking for those that are amazons choice and having > 200 reviews of 4 stars or more is usually a good starting point as well. I have had such great experiences, time and time again, and encourage others to use that system. I am a first time father and dont have much knowledge with the world of baby products...until now! This camera unit and monitor is very well designed from all the important factors detailed in their product information. The most amazing thing about this unit for me, is its INCREDIABLE RANGE! Our home is on 3 acres, my parents own the 3 acres next to us, we have a total of 5 buildings and the entire area is heavily wooded with trees.......I was able to find at least one spot in each room of each building where I could place the monitor and get 3 (out of 4) signals bars! I am extremely hard to impress, but this product has impressed me, across the board!

As you can see the night vision is not the same quality as the standard license that the DXR 8 came with.

For the record, I was looking for a lens specifically for a small bedroom. The room is 8 x 8, and this lens allows me to see from side to side. Then the camera itself can be moved up and down as needed if little one decides to roam around. The night vision on this is pretty poor compared to the DXR-5 I was using, but again the wide angle lens was a more important feature for me.

I wish I would have listened to the reviews! I have no idea how this lens gets 5 stars. We just purchased the Infant Optics - DXR-8 PRO & needed a wide angle lens. Upon receiving the lens, we hooked it up with ease & the clarity was like looking through a Motorola Razr Flip Phone from 2005. It’s beyond me how a company that makes a wonderful baby monitor, with up to date technology, is still stuck in the early 2000’s in picture clarity with a simple wide angle lens. And to top it off, the night vision was horrendous- you could see absolutely nothing but a bright white glare. It was like watching TV static. It’s a good thing this lens is only $11, because it’s completely unimpressive & a major let down. I would be embarrassed if I were Infant Optics, producing & putting my name on such a lackluster lens. We just ended up buying a $16 camera mount with a flexible arm that holds the camera above the crib & it solved all of our “wide angle” needs. Please listen to these 1 star reviews…they’re absolutely true!! This product isn’t worth any time or money spent!!

Incredibly easy to install, just twist it into the threads of The camera after you take the old lens out. My only complaint is the picture quality is not perfect. It may have more to do with the camera and less with this lens, but it could have been better. I can still see everything at a nice wide angle (ie my kids entire bed), but it’s a tiny bit fuzzy.

The lenses that come with the camera were too zoomed in. The wide angle worked better.

I got this lens since my daughter is now a toddler and we needed view of her entire room. The night vision wasn’t working so I contacted customer service. I had read older versions had bad night vision but they had fixed the issue. Thankfully their customer service is top notch and they resolved the issue. Night vision works now. It isn’t the greatest clarity but it does the job well enough. I’m happy with their system as a whole.

I bought it because I needed a wider view of my child’s bedroom and it was cheap. I had hoped some of the negative reviews about the poor night vision wouldn’t apply to the lens I received. Welp, hello poor night vision. While I can technically see everything I need to see, it’s blurry and shifty.

I tried different cameras and apps and many of them had some issues of their own. From not enough signal strength to issues with the WI FI. This system has NONE of those issues or concerns. It has worked marvelously and this lens has been extremely helpful. Very easy to install in the camera. Your pleased with the system works as designed. You are thrilled when it makes a very difficult task easier for those who we care about. This lens is ideal for widening the view of a room and you can zoom in. Simple, but effective.
