Good product but the cream gets used to quickly. Other oils are cheaper and I believe just as effective

I had a large Boos Block for 20 years and conditioned it with mineral oil. Over time it still sustained water damage and mold. I tried everything, even sanding it, to revive it, to no avail. My son just bought me a new one for Christmas and I immediately jumped online and forked out for the oil and cream. The moment the oil hit the board I could see it was far superior to mineral oil. I watched a few chefs videos that recommended this product and Im glad I did. I wont use mineral oil again, and hope to have this board for the rest of my life.

I have a new favorite hobby. It’s re-moisturizing dried out wooden things in our house! This Boos block works amazing and everything is returning to beautiful glossy wood! All my wooden spoons and cutting boards and butcher block counter top and even some chairs! This product works very well!

Is Mystery Oil really that much better than standard food grade mineral oil thats 80% cheaper? Almost certainly not. In fact I dont know that the composition is any different (its not listed of course). Boos blocks dont come from some magical forest and require unicorn blood for proper maintenance. Naturally theyll recommend their own product, which pads the bottom line. See also: printers and ink cartridges ... Knowing that, I bought it anyway, along with the board cream. I reasoned that as much as I spent on my Boos block, and in consideration of reported issues with splitting and/or warping, I might as well try it as insurance if nothing else, to show that I explicitly followed maintenance instructions in case something does go awry. FWIW, a little goes a long way and this bottle looks like itll last a long time. After that, Ill likely switch to generic food grade oil, but I think its worth it once at least.

A sample if the Mystery Oil came with my cutting board, so I knew what I was getting there. The wax product was good, I even used it on a butcher block kitchen cart I have. The issue is the packaging. The tube split open at the seal on the end when I squeezed it out the first time. I just adapted and squeeze it the big hole in the wrong end. Like I said, the product us great. The packaging needs improvement.

I have a 10 kitchen island, it wouldnt let the picture post & I used the oil & wax, I purchased a cherry unfinished. I did not spend a fortune on it, but it came out gorgeous! I just ordered more oil & wax to keep it up. It really holds up beautifully & i even usd it on a family heirloom rocker that is over 100 years old & it looks beautiful too. It does everything it says it does.

The only reason for the four stars is the price: this is overpriced as a package. The oil and cream work amazing and they are amazing products. The applicator is twice as expensive as other good brands. The reason I bought it is because it comes with a cap for the sponge. I wanted something to set it in that would be mess free. The cap isn’t worth $10, but I didn’t see anything else that came with one. As far as effectiveness, I actually like the applicator a lot. Rags are a pain to clean after and so I usually used my hands to rub the oil and cream into the board. I find that the applicator works well and that I actually can use less product for the same results. Again, probably not worth it as a package, but certainly convenient.

Like many of previous purchasers of this item I too received the mystery oil with the label vs printed on the bottle and the board cream with antimicrobial crossed out with Sharpie marker. However before returning the item claiming it to be a fake I called John Boos company at their toll free number and they confirmed that both items are authentic, just that they had ran out of their traditional packaging for the oil and still waiting for I believe they said licensing to be able to label the board cream with antimicrobial. But I made sure to verify that the product is in fact still antimicrobial and they confirmed it. I have full confidence I received an authentic product now and will not be returning the items.

This Mystery Oil is and Board cream is perfect with the Boos cutting board. Keeps the board looking fab. No smell and a must to condition the board. When you own a great BOOS cutting board this will help you maintain the beauty of the board.
