> 3 dayIve thought for some time Id like the 7 blade version of this Ka-Bar classic but remained undecided about which version to buy. After reading as much as I could find about the various versions and enhanced features, I purchased this model1211 which includes the usual basic GI attributes but also a partially serrated blade, the Kraton (rubber-like) handle and the hard sheath. To me the 1.75 long partial serration offers a tool for cutting that the straight edge doesnt. The Kraton handle is functional, carefree, durable and offers a solid, comfortable grip. I chose the hard sheath because it offers many features the leather sheath doesnt. The hard sheath is a highly molded polymer which is well made and fits the Ka-Bar perfectly. There is molded positive retention built in that will allow the blade to be solidly held with a click in either the right had or left hand position. A handle strap with snap closure is provided but is really redundant. The sheath can be mounted upside down with no fear the knife will fall out. The sheath has 8 eyelets along the edges which hold the top and bottom halves together and four 1.15 long slots cut into the edges between eyelets. The eyelets and slots allow the sheath to be strapped or lashed to packs or other gear for a variety of carry options. The webbed nylon belt loop is 2 wide, just over 3 long and riveted to the sheath. While I would really like to hold the original, 1942 version of this knife in my hand, I ultimately decided the added functionality of the model 1211 and the hard sheath makes it a more useful, practical tool. The fit and finish of this knife and the sheath are excellent. Im definitely impressed with the quality and would recommend it to anyone who appreciates the real deal plus 73 years of enhancements.

> 3 dayThis is a good knife. Big knife. The other reviews are right it looks sharp but the blade is dull. The reason I bought this knife is self defense. So I dont think Ill need to sharpen it. The finger guard is plastic and so is the butt. The sheath is hard plastic too. I think its a good knife worth the money. :)

> 3 dayI ran the blade across my arm and it shaved the hair off. It cuts like no knife Ive handled before. There is no effort needed. Its like cutting with a lazer. I love it.
