If more games had been made like this for the PSP, it might not have been such a flop for Sony. The gameplay is fluid, like any other kingdom hearts game, the voice acting is impressive, with a few big names in the script, and the graphics highlight the capabilities of the system very well. The story is interesting, but nothing groundbreaking as far as the Kingdom Hearts universe is concerned. The same overall themes and foils are present in the narrative, ex) friendship, darkness and light. Theres also the whole Disney - Square crossover thing going on. Its a prequel, so it is fun to see some of the same worlds revisited before the first game, or certain worlds visited for the first time, showing characters that appeared in other games. The game follow 3 different characters, one at a time, to give a full picture of whats going on. Its nice, and certain skills are unique to each character, but the levels end up being all the same, with slight modification, between each story line. If you still have a psp, and havent played this yet, give it a try. It might even inspire you to buy a Vita. The hardware is extremely capable, but in the end useless, without good games like Birth by Sleep to showcase it.

Let me first note, i have been a longtime fan of this series. I have played Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, and i am about to beat it with Aqua, and yes i know you have to play with all 3 to get the main plot. In anycase let me say in general Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep could have EASILY been on the PS3, its graphics are really amazing and as is the storyline. At first glance i was kind of mad about the voice acting for Aqua and Terra, but after awhile it seems like the voice actors make a great transition and you get a feel like they belong in the universe. For combat, i thought it would be complex with these new Battle mechanics but essentially it was very easy to get into after awhile because the controls are similiar to the PS2 controller except with a new SHOTLOCK system which is like a homing device for your character to get multiple attacks on the enemies. As for the bad, and my only two gripes with this game, was that the worlds were a little bit smaller, but i give this a pass because it is a PSP and the game designers can only do so much in one little disc. Also the boss fights can be REALLY difficult or the enemies, but that was most likely because they run a pattern, but it can be complex if you are underleveled. Overall this game is worth a buy and the full price if you ask me, because it is exactly a Kingdom Hearts style game, it has 3 different stories with 3 characters, some collectibles, new worlds which is definitely a huge upgrade over past Kingdom Hearts games and especially a hidden part of the game once you get all of Xehanorts diarys.

One of the best Kingdom Hearts games period. It helps connect all the worlds and will hopefully be expanded upon in Kingdom Hearts 3. Highly recommenced as it has one of the best battle systems in any RPG ever.

I hate using the PSP because the screen is so small and playing a game is hard so I bought a component wire and hooked it up to my 32 TV and it is just as good as any other system now. This game I real good and interesting. I love the story and the characters. The picture is so clear and the music is awesome. I highly recommend this game.

A great prequel to the series. At first I thought the series was kind of lame in terms of story, although the game play was fun. After extensively playing birth by sleep, I felt like the story is very in depth and the characters and their relationships (including KH 1 and 2) are fun to watch unfold. I always thought the idea of their hearts were lame and childish but now I can see a deeper meaning and how it relates more to the overall story. Maybe its my own meaning I put onto the game but nevertheless I enjoy and cant wait until the next release to fill in the pieces.

A great installment to the Kingdom Hearts series. Good Storyline, Voice-Acting, and Music The battle system is similar yet revamped for the title. No need to have played the others to enjoy, but definitely would add to the experience. Good replay value having 3 different story modes. All the good parts of what you would expect from a Kingdom Hearts game. A good play.

The kingdom hearts series have not dissapoint after playing this I got kh 1 and 2 for ps2 and I have a new rpg favorite of all time. Your missing out if you dnt play this. I heard kingdom hearts 3D dream drop distance coming out soon too for the nintendo 3ds. I dnt own one but after playing birth by sleep, I will buy one just to play that. Conclusion this game tops my list and yours too most likely!

The game is well made & love the store-line but its sad that terra lost his body to the bad guy and i prey he gets it back in KH3 for PS3/PSV soon. Ven looking like roaxs was bit confusing but i peace the whole store-line and know why now and i hope him and his friends come back in KH3 to stop the evil mastermind again but with fail. And save hot and cute aqua who is tap in the darkness realm. I find it funny that she and sora never met in the realm of darkness on the same beach when sora got trap too. Very weird on that part their.

So if youre like me you love Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, but the filler games have been a mixed bag. Well, that was precisely why I waited so long in giving Birth by Sleep a try, but with no Kingdom Hearts 3 in view, I figured what the heck, and wish Id done so right when it came out. The game play is what you expect (and want) from a Kingdom Hearts game. Hack and Slash with a little magic/special attacks thrown in. The PSP controls work very well and feel natural while jumping around and fighting enemies. The worlds are new, as are the enemies, which is a welcome change from previous games which retread old territory. If youre waiting for KH3 and own a PSP, this game is a no brainer. If you dont own a PSP, see if you can borrow one from a friend, its worth it to play this game.
