I bought this specifically for sound. I wanted a very loud fan and it’s just slightly loud. Works great though. I like that the dial is on the front instead of behind the fan.

Setting 1 will blow you away! If youre looking for a bedroom fan, or white noise fan this one might be a little too industrial. Im wishing Id gone with the plastic Lasko floor fan instead of the metal. Its a beast!! LOL

This fan is awesome! Definitely keeps the air flowing and keeps you cool!

This is the second time I have bought this fan. The first time was ~10yrs ago. Thing just wouldnt quit even though I seldom had it turned off. It finally had quit (bad bearings, go figure!) last year, so time to buy the same model!

The fan is not nearly powerful enough for my garage.

I wasnt too concerned with the other reviews about the whining noise when I bought this fan. I needed it move air and it does just that very well. The whining noise does exist however but Ive noticed it seems to be intermittent at first and then will go away completely after about 15 minutes of running. If you change the speed youll probably hear it again as the fan is spinning up or down. It also seems to be worse after the fan has been left off for a long period of time. I dont really consider this a negative thing or a flaw with the design. I can imagine it being something related to the type of bearing they used in this or blade harmonics. I use this fan, with other strategically placed fans, to move air through my house to cool it off. Open a window on the hot end of the house and one or more on the cooler end. Set this fan up on the floor on the cool end pointing toward the rest of the house. OR have this fan blowing air directly out of the open window on the hot end of the house. Its not perfect, and central air would be nicer, but it works like a charm. The only real complaint I have is that the cord is too short for my liking. Throughout the day I sometimes need to move this thing to a different spot and it cant always reach the outlet. An extension cord fixes that problem but for this price I would have appreciated a much longer cord.

When I went to take apart our 20 year old Lasko fan to clean it I Googled how to disassemble the specific model and unfortunately discovered it had been recalled due to a fire issue. I called Lasko and asked about a replacement, but the recall was so old, they were only able to provide me with the part that attaches to the cord to repair the fan. I am paranoid about fires, so I cut the cord, recycled the bulk of the plastic and tossed the remainder of the motor and started to search for a new fan. I assumed (sigh) that a commercial grade metal fan would be my best option for a replacement as we used our fan for noise elimination more than airflow. Here is the deal on this fan: It is not loud. Compared to a plastic Lasko Wind Machine we purchased a couple months ago, this metal Lasko fan is quiet. It has a weird high pitch whirring noise that my husband says sounds like a small airplane. The difference between the 1-2-3 settings is almost not there. We had a hard time telling when the fan was turned up or down. The wind or air movement is impressive when compared to the Lasko Wind Machine (plastic). Our Aussie loves to lay in front of the fan and she sat in front of the metal Lasko and with her fur blowing around her face. The plastic Lasko, is loud, but it does not move the air nearly as well. This fan is really easy to put together. It snaps in two parts and the controls attach on the side. There is a clamp for the window that we have not used, so I do not know how difficult it is. The fan itself is not heavy, so its easy to move around. Honestly, if you can handle the whir, and dont need the fan for noise reduction, this is the fan for you. If you want a noisy fan that blows air, go with the Lasko Wind Machine (plastic).

Very strong, but makes a noise that varies in db/frequency on 2 out of the settings, so it becomes and extreme nuisance. I ordered two times to see if it was the unit or model, and both had the same problem
