For me, this was a toss up between two and three stars. It isnt junk but it definitely isnt great either. The 4 1/2 star ratings are a little confusing to me but I suppose if someone else is used to $25 plastic box fans this fan is built like a tank and blows air like a tornado. Like some others providing reviews on this, Ive been using two old 20 Lakewood fans for many, many years but theyre out of business now. Id have been happier paying twice as much as the Lasko price for a replacement like the Lakewood but just couldnt find one even at triple the Lasko cost. I still have one functional 20 Lakewood so comparisons to the Lasko arent based on memory alone. The Lakewood definitely has a far greater air movement. This new Lasko has essentially the same CFM ratings as the Lakewood but its not even close to the same output; not CLOSE. Id estimate the Lasko is at least 30% weaker than the 20 Lakewood but its definitely not as strong with a much smaller motor and less aggressive fan blade design. Im very skeptical of the CFM rating on the Lasko. The Lasko fan is relatively quiet on high and medium but sometimes has an annoying howl or whine on low. This is a significant noise, not a minor, gotta listen for it kind of noise. It comes and goes but is mostly there on low. The complaint about the howling noise is in some other reviews as well. Blade balance and grille design are very good. No vibration at all in mine. I had to remove the blade guard to repair the swivel tensioner and the grille was easy to remove and replace. The rubber swivel tension brackets are junk. My fan just wouldnt tilt and stay in place. Trying to tighten the lock nuts to fix that caused the thin sheet metal bracket holding the square shank bolt to break....the bracket is REALLY thin and completely inadequate. So, I took the factory, square shank 8mm bolt out and used a regular 5/16 bolt, two washers and a 5/16 nylon insert lock nut (aka nylok) to fix that connection. The remaining factory tension bolt bracket is also cracked out but one decent bolt in the other bracket is enough to make the tilt function okay. Those factory, square shank bolts are also poor quality. The metal is very, very soft. All of this is typical; cheap Chinese fasteners in thin, soft metal brackets. Thats a bad combination. The fix is simple but shouldnt be necessary. The included wall mount bracket for this fan is very good. Its also fairly light weight metal but completely adequate for the job. Its easy to install and very convenient for hanging or removing the fan from the wall. The switch for the fan is well placed and is especially convenient when the fan is wall mounted. With a larger electric motor, more aggressive blades and better swivel mount brackets it would be a five star product. Lasko should make the fan in that configuration and charge twice as much, it would be a better value.

Very powerful. I use it in my room and absolutely love it now let’s see if it lasts longer than my last fan that I got from Walmart.

Needed a fan for small space. Didnt want a small high speed noisy one with lots of wind blast. Decided to buy large fan & slow it down so it would move air quietly without wind blast. Slowest setting is still too fast. Purchased a fan speed controller in hopes of slowing even more. See photo. Worked perfectly. Plugged fan into this controller. Set both to slowest speed. Fan very quiet yet still moves sufficient amount of air with much less blast.

Our house AC is usually off during the day upstairs, we have a split ac downstairs. Sometimes it doesnt feel worth it to turn on the AC even when were at home at night. So this fan comes in handy! Noise is loud, but it really doesnt matter. Its a nice fan with lots of power. thats all we needed. Originally this was bought so that our dogs could be outside when we need them to be. Or if they are having digestive issues we could leave them in their crate outside without mosquitoes or bugs messing with them. Buy it! Other than the nose level its a great fan so far. Will update if it breaks down.

I just received the Lasko. This fan is not as powerful as my Powermax High Velocity fan I got for about $20 cheaper at Walmart a year ago. That doesnt mean that the Lasko is not a good fan. But Ive been running my Powermax for 10 hrs. in the daytime and for about 8 hours thru the night and wanted a second fan so Id be less likely to burn out either fan motor from running that long by itself. The Lasko is a little louder than the Powermax but the noise doesnt bother me, especially at night. Ill probably run the Lasko at night since its the loudest, and the Powermax in the daytime so I can hear the TV. :) The 3 Lasko fan speeds are not much different from each other. You will notice only a slight fan speed jump from the first speed to the 2nd, and the 2nd to the 3rd. However, the lowest Powermax speed is more powerful than the highest Lasko speed. Im afraid to use the 3rd speed on the Powermax for fear it might just take off. Its super loud. But the wind it blows just doesnt go very far beyond the fan, maybe 10 feet? Sounds a lot more powerful than it is. Maybe they just need to tweek the blades? The test as to whether or not I keep the Lasko will be tonight when I touch the motor to see if it has gotten hot after running for at least 8 hours. Ill let you know. The Powermax motor does get hot but Ive not run it continually more than 10 hours at a time. My only complaints with the Powermax are that the motor does get hot after hours of use, and there is NO brand name anywhere on the model. I didnt know what it was until I found it in the description online at Walmart. The Lasko should meet the needs of almost anyone needing a powerful fan. It gets good reviews and it seems to be reliable, lasting for a long time. So of course I would recommend it. Oh...my new Lasko is the black one and its a good looking fan. And it couldnt be simpler to set up. Itll take you about 30 seconds. You only need to snap on the legs and screw in the Dial that sits on the leg. (I wish these guys would put the Dial on the top of the fan.) Im just using it as a floor fan. So....after Ive tested the Lasko motor to see if it gets hot after many hours of use, Ill come back and let you know. Edit: It looks like you could run this Lasko fan 24/7 and it wont ever get hot. Ive very pleased about that but... Be WARNED....there is a metal part that sticks out on the left side as youre facing the fan and Ive got a nice bloody gash on my calf as a result of walking past it in the night. The metal piece is about as high as eye level for a medium sized dog so just be aware of that and do what you can to cover that part with something so it cant do damage to animals and humans. :)

It’s rare that you buy high quality stuff that lasts anymore. I’ve had this fan for about 4 years and it works as well as the day I got it. I literally never shut this fan off other than to clean it every few months. It has a good amount of white noise which I like- definitely not a silent fan so keep that in mind. It completely comes apart so that you can really clean it. I don’t write a lot of reviews but I was cleaning this today and thought wow this fan is as good as the day I got it. Hope it lasts another 4 years

After inquiring about how loud it was, I decided to buy this fan about a year ago. I wanted loud. I need loud. I am a light sleeper, and if I get woken up, it takes me forever to get back to sleep...been that way my whole life, so I need something to block out random noises, and have one, steady white noise. This fan does the trick for almost every noise that goes on in the outside world. I say almost because while this fan is fantastic, nothing on earth will block out noise by inconsiderate neighbors who have decided that the entire block wants to hear their garbage music blasted out of their truck stereo, with all doors and windows of the truck wide open as it sits in front of their house, at top volume every single day. It blocks some of the racket, but if you have those types of neighbors, this will not block out all of it, even on the highest setting. I dont think that theres a fan loud enough to block out the horrendous thundering bass that slams in to the otherwise calm of the neighborhood, so that is not the fault of this fan. Also, I put it in front of the screen door at night in the summer time to draw cool air in to the place to cut down on a/c bills. During the day, I put it in front of the a/c so that the fan will blow the cool air farther in to the room, and it also helps to cut down the cost of the electric bill as running this fan doesnt cost as much as turning the a/c down to a colder temperature to keep from sweating it out during the day. The only issue I have with this fan is that it is a pain to clean. I have looked several times over, and I do not see any way to simply unclick a connection to take the face grill off of the fan to get inside and clean the blades. I have to use tools, small tools, to unscrew the screws to get in there and clean it up...or I have to get fancy with a chopstick or two and pull hair (pet hair) that has been whipped around and stuck to the blades. It would be nice if the front grill was easier to remove in order to clean it more often to keep it functioning for a long time. I have had this fan on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for almost an entire year. The only time I turn it off is when Im cleaning the fan. This fan is still going strong with that kind of use. If you are looking for a quiet fan, this isnt it. If you are looking for a fan to drown out sounds from the outside, need a nice white noise to fall asleep, draw hot air out of your home in the evening, and draw cool air in to the home at night, this is the fan.

As I write this review Im being cooled and blown away by this powerful fan. Even on the lowest of the 3 speeds this fan moves a lot of air. Solidly built and well designed, Ive purchased 2 of these fans and will probably purchase more.
