** update 8/1/20. I’ve updated from 3 to 5 stars. After about a month of using the fan almost daily, the rattling and whirring seems to have worked itself out. Now, just the normal sounds of a high powered fan. I really do love this fan and am happy that I was too lazy to box it up and send back. Ugh. Was really hoping that the reviews I read about strange, very annoying noises were just flukes however... yay lucky me, I got one of the malfunctioning fans! I’ve had this fan for 2 days, and while I love the amount of air it moves, I just cannot deal with the awful noises. On speed 1, it makes a very loud rattling noise. I’m thinking it’s possibly the motor housing/cover? Not sure, as it’s intermittent but way too loud to ignore. This is by far the worst speed in terms of loud, atypical noise. On speed 2, I get the very loud, high pitched whirring/screaming (best way I can think to describe it). I’ve tried for 2 days, but it cannot be ignored. Well that knocks speed 2 out of the usability equation. Speed 3 is the only speed that doesnt make abnormal sounds. This speed is awesome, unfortunately too much air movement for sleeping. The fan is loud in terms of normal fan noises, but I fully expected that with a fan labeled as ‘high velocity’. The awful rattling & whirring/screaming noises on speeds 1 & 2 are certainly not supposed to be happening. Disappointing for a brand new $65 fan that does not oscillate or have a remote control. Returning & undecided if i will try a replacement or go with another brand.

My bedroom gets too hot and doesn’t circulate cold air, this is very powerful and very loud but still doesn’t circulate hot air. I usually put it in my garage for cookouts, which I would recommend getting for that purpose!

For me, this was a toss up between two and three stars. It isnt junk but it definitely isnt great either. The 4 1/2 star ratings are a little confusing to me but I suppose if someone else is used to $25 plastic box fans this fan is built like a tank and blows air like a tornado. Like some others providing reviews on this, Ive been using two old 20 Lakewood fans for many, many years but theyre out of business now. Id have been happier paying twice as much as the Lasko price for a replacement like the Lakewood but just couldnt find one even at triple the Lasko cost. I still have one functional 20 Lakewood so comparisons to the Lasko arent based on memory alone. The Lakewood definitely has a far greater air movement. This new Lasko has essentially the same CFM ratings as the Lakewood but its not even close to the same output; not CLOSE. Id estimate the Lasko is at least 30% weaker than the 20 Lakewood but its definitely not as strong with a much smaller motor and less aggressive fan blade design. Im very skeptical of the CFM rating on the Lasko. The Lasko fan is relatively quiet on high and medium but sometimes has an annoying howl or whine on low. This is a significant noise, not a minor, gotta listen for it kind of noise. It comes and goes but is mostly there on low. The complaint about the howling noise is in some other reviews as well. Blade balance and grille design are very good. No vibration at all in mine. I had to remove the blade guard to repair the swivel tensioner and the grille was easy to remove and replace. The rubber swivel tension brackets are junk. My fan just wouldnt tilt and stay in place. Trying to tighten the lock nuts to fix that caused the thin sheet metal bracket holding the square shank bolt to break....the bracket is REALLY thin and completely inadequate. So, I took the factory, square shank 8mm bolt out and used a regular 5/16 bolt, two washers and a 5/16 nylon insert lock nut (aka nylok) to fix that connection. The remaining factory tension bolt bracket is also cracked out but one decent bolt in the other bracket is enough to make the tilt function okay. Those factory, square shank bolts are also poor quality. The metal is very, very soft. All of this is typical; cheap Chinese fasteners in thin, soft metal brackets. Thats a bad combination. The fix is simple but shouldnt be necessary. The included wall mount bracket for this fan is very good. Its also fairly light weight metal but completely adequate for the job. Its easy to install and very convenient for hanging or removing the fan from the wall. The switch for the fan is well placed and is especially convenient when the fan is wall mounted. With a larger electric motor, more aggressive blades and better swivel mount brackets it would be a five star product. Lasko should make the fan in that configuration and charge twice as much, it would be a better value.

Nice speed settings. Not too loud and plenty of air movement. Very well constructed!

Great velocity. I like the sound level because it blocks noise out at night. This is my second one.

Just received this fan today. I was super excited b/c my upstairs get so hot. I thought this fan would be great to move the hot air around. The fan itself is very durable. Blades are metal. The fan has 3 settings. Blows great air. It would be better for outside, basement or factory use. 1. Assembly was easy, no tools required. 2. Blade and cage came already put together. 3. Plugged in and started using it under 5 minutes. All that being said, THIS FAN IS SO LOUD! IT ALSO MAKES LITTLE SIREN NOISES INTERMITTENTLY. Unfortunately, I will be returning this fan because the noise is loud.

Using to direct air into the Shop attic to help dry out musty, damp odors following a wet winter. I let it run about 6 hours a day 7-days a week on Low. Not overly noisy but not whisper quiet either.
