> 24 hourI just received the Lasko. This fan is not as powerful as my Powermax High Velocity fan I got for about $20 cheaper at Walmart a year ago. That doesnt mean that the Lasko is not a good fan. But Ive been running my Powermax for 10 hrs. in the daytime and for about 8 hours thru the night and wanted a second fan so Id be less likely to burn out either fan motor from running that long by itself. The Lasko is a little louder than the Powermax but the noise doesnt bother me, especially at night. Ill probably run the Lasko at night since its the loudest, and the Powermax in the daytime so I can hear the TV. :) The 3 Lasko fan speeds are not much different from each other. You will notice only a slight fan speed jump from the first speed to the 2nd, and the 2nd to the 3rd. However, the lowest Powermax speed is more powerful than the highest Lasko speed. Im afraid to use the 3rd speed on the Powermax for fear it might just take off. Its super loud. But the wind it blows just doesnt go very far beyond the fan, maybe 10 feet? Sounds a lot more powerful than it is. Maybe they just need to tweek the blades? The test as to whether or not I keep the Lasko will be tonight when I touch the motor to see if it has gotten hot after running for at least 8 hours. Ill let you know. The Powermax motor does get hot but Ive not run it continually more than 10 hours at a time. My only complaints with the Powermax are that the motor does get hot after hours of use, and there is NO brand name anywhere on the model. I didnt know what it was until I found it in the description online at Walmart. The Lasko should meet the needs of almost anyone needing a powerful fan. It gets good reviews and it seems to be reliable, lasting for a long time. So of course I would recommend it. Oh...my new Lasko is the black one and its a good looking fan. And it couldnt be simpler to set up. Itll take you about 30 seconds. You only need to snap on the legs and screw in the Dial that sits on the leg. (I wish these guys would put the Dial on the top of the fan.) Im just using it as a floor fan. So....after Ive tested the Lasko motor to see if it gets hot after many hours of use, Ill come back and let you know. Edit: It looks like you could run this Lasko fan 24/7 and it wont ever get hot. Ive very pleased about that but... Be WARNED....there is a metal part that sticks out on the left side as youre facing the fan and Ive got a nice bloody gash on my calf as a result of walking past it in the night. The metal piece is about as high as eye level for a medium sized dog so just be aware of that and do what you can to cover that part with something so it cant do damage to animals and humans. :)

> 24 hourBought to replace old floor fan same size. Thought would be very powerful for cooling the house. The motor just not as powerful as older models. High on this model is like a cross between low and medium compared to old model. Other than that good fan.

> 24 hourThis fan is durable, versatile, has three settings, great/high air flow on those sticky hot summer days and nights. I live in a 2nd floor apt wit no shade, or cooling units and the only other fan we have is non existent. This is the only thing that got us through last summer’s heat waves. As well as this summer as well. I just need this fan, an ice cold drink… and I end up having to turn it Trojan bee cause i get too chilled if I add anything else “cooling” (drink, wet bandanna, or even a water bottle for spritzing). I love the rotation angles for various air flow scenarios. I love the pedestal/metal mount design of its base. It has fallen, been knocked over, had a power surge hit it without it being protected and it’s still kicking! I even had my grandson drop a remote control into it as it was on huh (no one was hurt). But the fan and the blades were not effected in the least. I didnt need tools that I don’t own to open it. It has secure metal clamps all the way around a the perimeter to open the fan to clean (or fetch remote controls) or do a quick dusting of. This is amazing.

> 24 hourSetting 1 will blow you away! If youre looking for a bedroom fan, or white noise fan this one might be a little too industrial. Im wishing Id gone with the plastic Lasko floor fan instead of the metal. Its a beast!! LOL

> 24 hourI have had this fan for around 2 years and I use it in my bedroom. All the settings are really strong and loud but it works perfectly as white noise to help me sleep and my puppy also likes the fan. It is a little heavier and annoying to move around, but it has not had any more complications for me. Im sure it will last for many more years.

> 24 hourYes, its just a tad bit loud but its nothing at all unbearable. Its producing more air flow and because of that, it works absolutely amazing! Our AC went out and I was suffering. I had a plastic fan and the window open and I was still drenched in sweat, mind you Im in Texas. This fan works wonderful and is perfect for a hot day!

> 24 hourI purchased this fan because of Lasko name even though it was a little more expensive. When it arrived the box appeared to have been opened prior to arriving so I was a little suspicious that it had been returned and then reshipped. However when I plugged it in, it worked great. It was very quiet for a high velocity fan. After using it for a couple of days it began making a loud whining noise. The noise is not constant, it comes and goes. If I turn off the fan for while it will run fine for a couple of hours before making the noise. The longer I use the fan the louder the noise gets. I have tried repositioning the fan without sucess. The noise is coming from the motor so I figure it will go out soon. I have a cheap no name high velocity fan that is a little louder (air noise) but works much better. I am very disappointed with the sub par quality of this Lasko one. I would recommend not wasting your money. It might be a one off but I am not going to spend more money to test that.
