LEGOs Harry Potter Hogwarts Great Hall is an amazing LEGO set. It is large, very detailed, and fun. The set is straightforward to put together but there are a lot of steps and pieces. The instruction book is huge. It took two adults about 3 hours to complete everything. LEGOs instructions are image based only, there is no text. They are easy to follow, however, and LEGO makes sure to give you a few extra of the smaller pieces in case you should misplace one during a build. This is not a set for small children. There are many intricate steps and lots of tiny pieces. The set feels substantial and sturdy when completed. Once everything is completed youll be greeted with a large castle that is truly beautiful and detailed. One side of the castle is the exterior shell, while the other side is open allowing you to see the interior and play with it. It is like a LEGO doll house. Included with the set are many mini figures, and one not so mini figure... thats Hagrid! His character is larger than the rest, which is a fun touch. Each of the mini figures have two faces that you change by rotating the heads. There are lots of accessories, such as wands, mugs, food, and pets, to scatter about the set and play with. There are also many moving parts, such as the doors, the swing out spiral staircase up the tower to Dumbledores office, the house flags, and the magic mirror. If you are a Harry Potter fan you will notice lots of thoughtful details from the series. All in all... an amazing LEGO set for the Harry Potter fan.

My son, 9 yo, is a Lego and harry potter fanatic. It took him about 3 hours or so to complete. Absolutely stunning once completed.

Lego nerd, college student, and die-hard Harry Potter fan here. I cannot recommend this set enough. When my 9 year old cousin and I first found out that Lego was releasing a Hogwarts Great Hall, neither of us could contain our excitement. The build took about 1.5 hours. Now that we’ve built the set, played with it, and he’s destroyed it, here are our pros and cons. Pros: This set’s sheer level of detailing is simply fantastic and the set looks great on display. In person, the minarets, rooftops and triangle shapes of the exterior really stand out. The pieces in the set themselves are very versatile, and half of the fun for my cousin was making his own creations after we finished building (he particularly enjoyed the yellow frog piece). The figures are another highlight. My cousin really like swooshing around the exclusive Nearly Headless Nick (whose head stays firmly on his neck in Lego form unlike in the films and who features both a happy and sad face.) Hagrid has a newly molded body as well. His ams stay firmly in their sockets and never pop out. Susan Bones, Nearly Headless Nick, Professor Quirell, Ron and Draco (in their respective Hogwarts robes) are exclusive to this set, as are McGonagall and this version of Dumbledore for now (this will change later this year). They feature double-sided head printing other than Hagrid as seen in my photos. Quirell also features Voldemort’s face on his back which is intimidating and very well done. This set is currently the only way to get Slytherin and Hufflepuff robes. The new Sorting Hat piece is also exceptionally detailed and is probably my favorite new part of the year. The boat is a nice inclusion as well. Cons: There aren’t many cons of this set. Notably, the brick built Basilisk and Fawks do look clunky in person, and I’m honestly not a fan. Also, the set connects poorly with the Whomping Willow set (75953) in that it becomes impossible to fully extend the stairs. Though the great hall is very well detailed Lego could have done a better job hiding the massive and very visible technic piece going down the center of the hall’s ceiling. At 11.4 cents per piece, this set is slightly more expensive than I’d like, but considering the sheer amount detailing and figures, this can be forgiven. Though the figures are amazing, Professor McGonagalls second face peeks out from under her hat (as seen in my photo). Finally, there are a maddening amount of stickers used in this set, and once applied incorrectly, they become almost impossible to remove. I wish Lego would just print the designs onto the parts as in the old days. These gripe aside, this is a fantastic set and I could not recommend it more.

The LEGO manuals have always been superior to all other building block systems which are a huge draw to me especially since I am trying to get out 4-year-old involved in building these sets. I have never seen any of the Harry Potter movies and know very little about them, but that is not needed to enjoy this set. The detail is amazing so get ready for a prolonged build.

This kit is phenomenal.. The detail is amazing, and with the light kit its really pretty. Lots of mini figs, wands, and misc other accessories are included. Price is a little high, but I dont regret it.
