> 24 hourThis was a fun build that took a few hours. I noticed quite a few comments complaining that the smoke stacks would get stuck. I had that issue mid build when one particular step pressed 2 lego pieces too close to the moving gears or something as i was testing the movement with every new step. I found that pulling on the stacks upwards helped jiggle them into proper place so they could move again. This is one of those builds thats not easy to pull back apart if you miss a step because many of the pieces are snapped flat against each other. I ended up realizing I forgot a piece 10 pages later. Sure it was on the inside of the ship and didnt affect functionality, but still a silly mistake.

> 24 hourMy son loved it. Took him about two hours to get it fully built. It functions properly and it’s definitely worth the money.

> 24 hourMy two boys and I are huge LEGO fans and they also happen to be fans of Mickey Mouse having watched Mickey Mouse Club House when they were younger. Unsurprisingly, the Disney Steamboat Willie kit has been a hit in our home. This set features LEGOs renowned quality and attention to detail, a cool monochrome (exterior) color scheme, and plenty of fun extras to keep kids attention! ► Thoughts on Build Process & Difficulty: My kids, ages 4 and 6, are quite a bit younger than the recommended age of 10+ but weve tackled more difficult builds. We take the building process slowly in our home and its not unusual for more complicated builds to take us a few weeks to build. This build was completed in about a week of working. There arent any super tricky parts to this build, just some small bits and gears that might be difficult for children. There are four small wheels at the base of the steamboat that connect to the two smokestacks through gears and levers in the hull. As the steamboat is pushed forward the smokestacks move up and down just like in the cartoon! I should mention that there are a few small components too - the paddlewheels in particular feature a lot of small pieces that all fit together but can be a bit delicate. With some patience and the help of an adult, this build isnt too bad at all. ► Fun Features: I like to point out some fun features that might not be apparent to the shopper through pictures and the product page alone. The biggest surprise I already mentioned - the smokestacks that move up and down as the boat chugs (pushed) along. Its a neat throwback to the cartoon, at least if my memory serves correctly. The steamboat also features a working pulley system for loading crates of potatoes (a crate marked potatoes is included) or whatever. The pulley uses string and a real pulley wheel and lever to move cargo up, down, and around in 360°! I also think the monochromatic finish is really neat, particularly since Steamboat Willie is a black and white cartoon. Interestingly, though not surprising for longtime LEGO fans, the interior of the boat features plenty of colorful bricks. Theyre just all tucked down in the bowels of the steamboat and hidden from view. Lastly, the instruction booklet is one large booklet format and the first few pages contain some neat history of the Steamboat Willie cartoon and also the folks who helped design the building kit... neat! ► Minifigures: You get two minifigures with this kit - Mickey and Minnie. Theres plenty of extras for each minifigure too including hats, a guitar and a skirt for Minnie. A small bird is also included! Sadly theres no sign of Pete, which I think is an odd omission. ► Closing: This is a fantastic set for kids or adults. Any LEGO, Disney, or Mickey Mouse fan is sure to love this kit. The attention to detail and build quality is superb, in typical LEGO fashion! Recommended!

> 24 hourThis is a great lego build. Our kids lego room is mostly whites, blues, grays, and teals so this fit in perfectly to be a neat understated piece that gets immediate attention every time.

> 24 hourIf youre a Disney fan, then youre gonna love this little set. Its super cute and fairly easy to put together. However the $90 price tag is absolutely ridiculous. Yes, the paddles spin and the smokestacks go up and down, but I believe a $50-$60 price-point is much more realistic. Youre pretty much paying for the Disney name and the nostalgic aspect.
