Liquitex BASICS Gesso Surface Prep Medium, 473ml (16-oz) Bottle, White

Great product! This gesso was fully opaque after one coat, and was perfect for creating a base on fabric. After the product dries (about 4 hours) , it creates a slightly hard surface that you are able to sketch and erase on. The fabric I used this on was thin denim. I would assume that this product would not be ideal for super thin or stretchy fabrics because the product would crack with the fabrics flexibility. Very satisfied!

Great base helps bring out my colors also drys pretty quick so you can get to creating .

This is Total Garbage, a$5.00 can of Spray Paint works MUCH better. NOTHING is WORSE then this It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a smooth finish. It is so thick that it leaves ridges that must be sanded, A LOT. It might be worth the effort IF it covered in one or two coats. I am covering a red and white box so I can paint it a different color and want the new color to be even. This will not cover. After two coats waiting 24 hours and not sanding between coats, I can still read the fine print (red on white) on the box and the red pictures are still very visible. A bottle of 10 cent childrens water color paint would cover better in ONE coat. NEVER USE this if you want to end up with a smooth high gloss finish. After and hour of sanding trying to get this smooth and removing most it, it looked smooth and felt smooth...... BUT after priming with a Rust-Oleum gloss white paint & primer I can still see the ridges. Good thing this was a test piece. Now I know - NEVER use this on anything that you want to have a quality finish

Coverage is more like for paint. I expected 100% full coverage for gesso. I would get a higher quality brand next time.

I usually by the professional gesso. This “basic” smells slightly so I’m more comfortable with extra ventilation. Good coverage. Perfect for beginners and art journaling.

This was my first time trying out this product (a Youtuber mentioned gesso does wonders). This stuff dried insanely fast! By the time I was halfway through one swipe on an 8 page, it was completely dry, which then created a lot of clumps/bumps on the page. Will probably never buy again.

You would think Gesso is Gesso is Gesso, but each brand has their own quality and consistency. This Basics brand by Liquitex is more than good and costs several dollars less that most brands. Highly recommend.
