It works really good for the canvas boards I use. It’s a very forgiving base coat for people just starting out painting, as well as seasoned artists.

I used this product to prime a 3 feet by 3 feet wooden table on which I was going to paint a complicated sunflower design. I used carbon paper to trace the outline of my design onto the table after I had covered the table with the white gesso and was going to paint inside the outlines using colored acrylic paint. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete my project because I had to vacate my apartment at a moments notice. My roommate would have loved the finished product!

As a beginner painter, Ive used gesso to prep my canvas, and to correct some mistakes to paint over.

Not the cheapest, for sure, but, easy to apply, thick but easily spreadable, with a smooth texture (no clumps or pieces of anything). I am doing a lot of experimenting, and needed some gesso to be able to reuse canvases. So far I cannot complain. Dries to a nice good consistency of an acrylic prepped canvas, paint goes onto it quite well. If you have managed to peel off some old paint and the canvas threads are showing, this will cover it up in 3 layers and make it look brand new, be prepared to let them dry between applying. I cannot speak as to archival quality as of yet, have not used it for long, but so far, Im happy!

I use this to prep my canvases for pour painting. It is excellent quality. Very easy to use and spread. Great for beginners - if you are new to art spread this on your canvas with a brush before using your acrylics.

The products are very good you can buy more expensive paint but no real reason to Heavy body paint works great with this base.

Did some testing on paper and put the gesso on a few pieces of watercolor and printmaking paper and tested it out. worked wonderfully and the paper now lets me paint on it with oil.
