Liquitex BASICS Gesso Surface Prep Medium, 473ml (16-oz) Bottle, White

Never disappointment with this brand

Did some testing on paper and put the gesso on a few pieces of watercolor and printmaking paper and tested it out. worked wonderfully and the paper now lets me paint on it with oil.

The last gesso (a different brand) I had ended up rotting in the heat while I was moving so I bought this as a replacement and havent had any problems with it so far

Good product. Can be used directly or thinned with some water for multiple coats on carvings with intricate details without filling in.

Gesso gives a finish to paint on a beautiful effect. Without it the canvas shows through and takes away the desired look. I am a beginner, but want to have something worth my effort to be proud of the accomplishment.

Coverage is not great. More see-through than expected. A lot is needed for minimum coverage. My advice: Don’t use Liquitex. There are better brands out there.

This is all around just a good budget friendly gesso for those just getting into painting! I recommend adding a dot of your favorite starting color while priming your canvas to break up the white. Goes and smoothly and should last me a good while!

I use it to prime my canvas for acrylic painting. Helps the paint grab the canvas better.

It works really good for the canvas boards I use. It’s a very forgiving base coat for people just starting out painting, as well as seasoned artists.
