This was the first Astro headset I tried. It looks great and sounds good. The app is great and the mic monitoring is the absolute best I’ve found in a PS5 headset. However, that’s where the positives end. It’s too small for my head, and the flexible mic is weird and gets in the way far too often. If you’re trying to eat something or take a drink, the mic sits super close to your mouth and there is no adjustment other than taking off the headset. I’ve experienced the same issue with the sound and mic randomly going quiet and then back to loud again. It typically happens after I mute and unmute my mic. The buttons (especially the volume joystick) feel cheap and are not easy to use. If I kept this headset, I feel like that would be the first to break and it’s kind of important. There’s lots to like, and lots to not like. If sound quality and mic monitoring are important to you, it’s at least worth a try. I’ll be returning it, but the mic monitoring alone was almost worth it.

My impression after using this on xbox/pc: Pros -Feels basically the same as the gen 1. -It has clearer and louder sounds both input and output. -Movies, tv, music, party chat, basically all casual. uses for audio are fantastic. -Easy to connect. -Easy to switch between pc/console. -Less bulk in the way around the xbox (compared to gen1). -USB-C charging. -Party chat and game chat are great. -longer range without breaking up (about 20 feet more) Cons- -No audio queue for muting. -Audio base settings are very nuetralized, focused. on mid range with lower highs and higher lows. Needs a few hours of adjustments in an equaliser to sound good for gaming. -Need a third party equaliser like Dolby Atoms because Astro center doesnt register this headset. -Low end battery life ~13-18 hours. -Takes a while to charge ~4-5 hours. -Voice messaging is very bad, it crackles and peaks. -Have to resync/reconnect twice when switching between console and pc -Slightly uncomfortable when first worn, takes a little while for the stiffness to leave Overall its a mid-tiered headset out the box great for casual uses, easy to setup and not bad for gaming. Youll need a separate equaliser app to adjust the audio for better gaming.

Im going to start off with the two redeeming qualities of this headset before I get to the many reasons I will be returning it. The sound quality despite it not having surround sound capabilities is very nice and it is very comfortable to wear for long periods of time (10+hrs). Now, the microphone is extremely quiet and even with software to add gain and the device volume on my PC turned all the way up people still have trouble hearing me and sometimes the bug that makes you louder after you mute and unmute is enough for me to be able to communicate and sometimes it isnt. The boom microphones position doesnt stay in one place when set and requires constantly being moved so it doesnt sit on your face or at least directly under your nose. Youd think that having an app on your phone for fine tuning wouldnt be bad but not having the option for PC also just adds extra problems when the headset just decides to disconnect from your phone (which no other blue-tooth device that I own does) OR your microphone just randomly mutes itself with no reliable way to unmute it. Muting itself is rare but still unacceptable and not only does it mute but also randomly stops making sound while still being turned on and sending a microphone signal AND if you think turning it on and back off again will solve it as it does with a lot of things SOMETIMES IT WONT TURN OFF OR BACK ON and sometimes when you unplug the USB and plug it back in the microphone still wont work and I dont mean not work for specific programs I mean in windows devices where it only shows up because it is connected there will be no sound level for the microphone and Ive yelled directly into it just to be sure it wasnt just so low it wasnt picking it up. Those are the reasons I am returning this headset but they arent even the only problems, just the ones that make it unusable and unreliable on a constant basis and when reaching out to Amazon I was told to contact Astro and Astro has not sent a single email about it other than the automated email confirming that the support ticket had been made and I have waited twice the amount of time that they claim to respond in and there has been no mention of higher than usual requests to let anyone know that their response time may take longer. The other problems are that it isnt surround sound which Id expect from a headset this expensive, while using the microphone on my phone it wont be usable on my PC, a bug that decreases the headsets volume a large amount when changing the volume on my phone up or down but increases the volume by the same large amount when changing the volume directly on the headset so you need to play with changing them both for your desired volume which is really annoying to do when answering calls, and the loud sounds it makes when it turns on, off, connects, or disconnects from anything that you cant control the volume of but when the battery levels are low (rare as that may be) the sound indicating that isnt as loud, and the range for both blue-tooth and USB connection could stand to be a bit longer but that is probably the least of complaints to have with the plethora of problems above.

    Greater than one week

This thing is amazing, love the sound quality and from what my friends and wife say it sounds great when I chat with them on Xbox. Super stylish and easy to use. Cups for great around my ears and don’t add pressure when I wear my glasses. Would recommend.

Why Microsoft doesn’t support native Bluetooth is beyond me. I own a bunch of BT headsets so it’s really annoying to have another for my Xbox. But that’s a Microsoft issue not an Astro one. I didn’t want to drop too much money on a headset, but since it’s strictly for gaming I didn’t care about good audio quality for music. The A20 hits the mark on that. This would easily be a 3 star review but it’s priced so well I went with 4. Sound quality for gaming is good enough, comfort is good enough, and battery life is good enough. But the value is high. My biggest complaint is the headset has a USB-C charging port but will NOT charge off of a USB-C port. It will only charge in a USB-A port. That makes no sense. Like most other Xbox headsets it has its own USB dongle which I’ve found I can move to some interesting random devices and have it work. Again that’s not Astros fault. The volume could stand to go louder as well but it’s good enough for gaming. Overall it’s a great Xbox headset at the price point it’s at. The quality is what I’ve always expected from Astro.

Great sound quality. I think the 2 preset eqs are perfect. One for FPS and the other for everything else. I use them with Dolby as well and I love everything about them. They could be a tad louder but its loud enough to hear footsteps really well. Probably the best headset Ive used since my x11s way back in the day and maybe the mic based on other reviews but dont let that not make you buy it. The mic is good enough. The only question is longevity at this point
