Greater than one weekBeen using these MX518/G400 series for over 15 years now. This new model is my 4th one. It’s so perfect I can’t use any other gaming mouse. The only downside of the new model is the top surface is too glossy. When my hands sweat it gets a little dirty. But it’s lighter and faster than the previous model so can’t complain as much.

Greater than one weekI can’t come close to guessing how many mice I’ve used in 30+ years of computing. Up until 2007, I used whatever mouse came with the PC’s we had at home and work. By 2007, we needed (I wanted) a second PC. My wife and daughter were happy with their Dell desktop and HP laptop, so I built a desktop for me, choosing an Eclipse II lighted keyboard and MX 518 mouse. I loved that keyboard and mouse. I did some upgrades over the years, but in 2013 a surge fried the MB, and I did a complete rebuild. I continued to use the Eclipse keyboard, but the 518 was getting a bit hit & miss by then. I replaced the original 518 with a G400s, but that was a piece of junk and didn’t last long. I got my 518 out of storage, took it apart, cleaned it as best I could, and got a couple more years out of it. After a rebuild in late 2019, I retired my original 518. After being disappointed with an inexpensive Redragon mouse and a $60+ Corsair M65 mouse, whose left button didn’t last a year, I ordered a new MX 518. I wish Logitech had brought back the silver, dented look of the old one, but the shape has always been perfect mouse for my hand. As to the Eclipse II keyboard, I finally retired it after 11 years in favor of a Redragon K556 brown switch. No regrets. I love the K556 even more than the Eclipse.

> 3 dayThere was a slight tear on the cable of the unit I got and it basically stopped working within an hour of use. The RMA process went smooth so far, but when the whole point was to get a dropin replacement for an original MX518 thats been going strong for 15 years, this was a disappointment.

Greater than one weekI used one when they originally came out for gaming many years ago. Recently started gaming again and it’s the same mouse that I originally loved. Just as comfortable and accurate as it was 15 years ago when I bought my first one

> 3 dayThis isnt 100% a copy of the old MX-518, though if it was I probably still would have rated it 4 stars or higher. Instead this one is updated a bit so its probably cheaper to produce and more reliable. Previously I had to resort to the G400s to come close to the greatness of this mouse, and it worked OK, though I found the sensor on that mouse to be extremely flawed. With some sensors (and maybe even with the OLD 518) if the mouse pad or surface you used it on had a repeating pattern, the mouse could get confused about where it was moving and would become jittery, sometimes even when the mouse was perfectly still. I have yet to see that happen yet on this mouse which is great since my default mouse surface has a very regular pattern to it. The G400s also had a bright red light shining from the sensor but the MX-518 uses infrared instead so it doesnt shine a dot on the wall if you hold it up or turn it upside-down. Everything else about this mouse is pretty much the same as far as I can tell without opening it up to look. The shape, color, texture, position of the buttons, type of buttons/mouse wheel... all of it feels very familiar and comfortable to me. If you like the G400s or liked the old MX-518 you may want to look at this mouse next time you need a new one. One flaw of the old MX-518 that hasnt shown up was that the sensor used prediction when the mouse was moving very quickly. This meant that during a game session if you needed to 360º noscope someone, and you turned the mouse really fast, it would take the last direction it moved and lock it into a flat/straight line until you stopped or slowed down. You could see this in action by opening a drawing program and trying to draw a curved line really fast. At some point the curve would stop and it would lock into a perfectly straight line as the prediction kicked in. As I said though, from my preliminary tests with this mouse, it doesnt seem to be present, or maybe it is but just needs ungodly amounts of speed to show up (like moving the mouse so fast it would fly off the table and hit a wall). In any case, for how inexpensive it is, this is a good mouse, now even better for gaming than before.

> 3 dayLogitech G MX518 >>> pro: fits hand comfortably - (right hand only); buttons easy to reach, dpi increase/decrease easy to use and reach; glides well. cons: the center roller is terrible! feels very cheap and clunky. if rotating upwards or downwards in constant movement, its usable. stop for a few seconds and the moment you start to rotate again it feels stuck then jumps forward. becomes very annoying after only a few tries. I bought this mouse back in april 2022 and left it in box on a shelf for future use. today was future use after corsair katar pro began to show left clicky issues but in all honesty, id prefer to continue to use the corsair until new replacement arrives instead of new Logitech G MX518.
