If this is your first Lutron Smart Component, there might be a learning curve, especially if you wish to connect it to the Apple HomeKit. But if this is an addition to an existing system, the set up takes less than a minute and synchronizes with the HomeKit within seconds on all Apple applications. We bought three for three exterior zones, they work incredible. The Outdoor Smart Plug is not available in Canada yet, apparently.

Set up in less than 3 minutes. Replaced an outdated mechanical timer. Never need to adjust times again. Great product.

Everything all the other posters said is right, it’s well made and easy to use and reliable. Just putting this note here for anyone else who is buying too fast and skimming instead of reading (like I was) - the price does NOT mean you have every feature possible. It doesn’t dim. Had it plugged in and running my patio decor when I realized it can’t dim the lights - ugh. Already threw away box and everything. Only outdoor smart plug with dimmable features that connects to Apple HomeKit I could find is WAY cheaper, so I guess that’s my silver lining. This well-made, expensive item is going into a drawer for storage until I have another use (that doesn’t need dimming). Side note - have been transitioning to the Caseta product line and am really liking the reliability and functionality.

I bought this to control my pond pump. The smart switch is about 50 away from my access point that hangs in the garage. The switch sits next to other smart devices. My access point is a Luxul enterprise model so I know the signal is strong and my other devices nearby all work without issues. The unit appears to be a very well-built device with a great wet location switch but I can never control it through the app - even though the app tells me that the device is switching on and off. Maybe I have a bad unit : (

I had put off installing string lights on my deck hoping that Lutron would add an outdoor switch to the Caseta line. I installed the lights when I heard that their switch was coming soon, but I grew impatient and decided to try a much less expensive Homekit-ready wi-fi switch from another manufacturer. After 4 hours I was unable to get it working (despite meeting and following all recommendations and requirements). Fortunately, the Lutron Smart Plug became available for pre-order, and finally arrived last week. The complete setup, including Homekit and Alexa integration, took a grand total of 5 painless minutes. I cant speak to how installation will go with other hubs and systems, but this product is a no-brainer for existing Caseta users. The setup couldnt have been easier, and the switch has (so far) proved as dependable as the other Caseta products in my home. It is expensive and lacks certain features found in similar devices, but Ill gladly pay more for a fast, stress-free installation, seamless integration with my existing Caseta system, and complete reliability. And the build quality of this plug is extremely robust; it is clearly designed to withstand changing weather conditions with heavy-duty cabling and a solid enclosure.

Easy to install. Worked the first time. Replaces timers which require changing often. Recommend

I tried a similar product from another company and had no luck with them connecting. Sent them back and ordered these and Im really impressed with them. No issues with connection to Lutron bridge and plenty of flexibility with programming a schedule for operation. Only complaint would be the cost.

The Lutron Caseta line of smart home products is worth every penny. They use a proprietary communications protocol, but integrate with Alexa and HomeKit with an additonal hub. That said, even if your network goes down, the switches and remotes still work just as you would expect, its just your automations and integrations that will temporarily be unavailable. Its the only brand of smart outlet that Ive never had just spontaneously stop connecting to the network (unless the whole network is down).
