> 24 hourI own 20 of these. Of those, 4 have been sidelined for reduced wifi range (not initially, but over time), and 2 for not being able to handle 1500 watt heaters (1800 watts is claimed by the manufacturer). other keywords: burn, melt, fire hazard, amperage, amps, overload.

> 24 hourThis smart plug was working perfectly for 5 months and then just stopped today. I had no luck submitting a request for a replacement through their app - I put in all my info and then the submit button doesnt do anything. I wont buy from this company again unless I figure out how to get a replacement. UPDATE 6/11/23 - Changed from 1 to 4 stars. I finally found the little set of directions that came with it and realized theres a little on/off button on the side. It now works fine. Its behind my couch and Ive never even looked at it after the initial set-up. It must spontaneously turn itself off for whatever reason. If yours has stopped working, try pressing the little button on the side.

> 24 hourHad these over 6 months now. Ive primarily been using the Belkin Wemo Mini plugs for my home automation, and Ive been dabbling in various other brands as they would pop up with a great deal. The problem with the Wemo plugs is the 10A limit. In most cases, thats going to be fine, except that theyre generally going to be powered via a 15A circuit, meaning the circuit breaker isnt going to protect them from over amperage. I also tried the Amazon Plug, but I found it a bit too chunky, and Amazon has made a design decision that it will never provide the ability to return to its last power state after a power failure. This means that if I have something plugged into it that should usually be powered on, and I have a power blip, the plug will switch off and stay off. Not good. So, when I spotted this 4-pack at a great price on a lightning deal, I noticed they are rated at 16A, instead of the 10A most of their competitors are limited to. And, Ive been using several Meross products lately, and Im really happy with them. In the spirit of full disclosure, I will say that Meross has added me to their list of product reviewers and will occasionally reach out to me with products to evaluate for them, but I do not give good reviews unless I feel the product has earned it. However, it has provided me some decent exposure to their product line, and their customer service. So, I quickly jumped on the deal and bought these. I found their shape is very similar to the Amazon plug, except that their just small enough to allow two of them to be plugged into the same duplex outlet (unlike the Amazon plug). A bit larger than the Wemo Mini plugs, but with the higher current rating, thats not surprising. I found these are extremely easy to set up in the Meross app on my iPhone, and firmware updates are very quick and easy. Out of all the various brands of WiFi smart plugs Ive tried (Ive only tested WiFi plugs that dont require a dedicated hub), these are now my favorite. Its just a great product.

> 24 hourMy wireless router is the newer style that selects 2.4 or 5 GHz automatically. This can be a problem when you have a 2.4 GHz device but no way of choosing that bandwidth exclusively. Your phone must be using the 2.4 at the time that you try to set up the plug via Bluetooth. When your 5 GHz signal becomes weak your phone will automatically switch over to the 2.4 GHz bandwidth. I tried to weaken the signal by covering the router with a foil lined box and going as far away but still within Bluetooth distance of the plug that I was trying to set up but I didn’t have any luck trying this with my iPhone. I did have an old Moto E5 cruise that easily connected to the 2.4 bandwidth so that made set up really easy. I connected the plug to my wireless via Bluetooth and then moved the plug to where I was going to use it. After plugging back in it automatically reconnected so I don’t know what is up with other reviews that mention after power outages you have to reconfigure. I have not had to do this.

> 24 hourIve installed and used many different brands of Wi-Fi devices over the years. The Meross brand has done the best job designing and programming their Wi-Fi line of products. They are well made and most importantly, installation instructions are clear, they install easily, and stay connected reliably. Dont waste your money on plugs that make you struggle to get them connected. These are 15A plugs so they work with just about everything and set up is easy with the Meross App or the ubiquitous SmartThings app. I look for the Meross brand whenever I buy electronics that would benefit from being Wi-Fi enabled. And no, I dont work for Meross. Im usually looking for the best prices, but with Wi-Fi products, Im willing to pay a little more for easy reliable connectivity!
